flagirl  - BIU is the "Burn it Up" workout of SI6.  It follows SIU (Start it Up) and RIU (Ramp it Up).  You may see these shortcuts throughout the thread.  Hope you're enjoying your workouts!

Wk3 D3 - Hi everyone -

I finally started BIU yesterday - wow!  It's a bit more intense than I'd expected - I was tired just 15 minutes into the workout!  I had to take quite a few breaks, but made it through almost the whole hour.   The double-arm shoulder press is a bit awkward with the band, so I'm picking up the weights tomorrow.  Today was my much-deserved day off, but since a day without exercise feels strange now, I did the SI6Pk and slim & limber this morning.

I took my measurements again this weekend, and lost almost an inch in each thigh (that is, if I'm measuring correctly!).  I didn't think I would actually lose inches this quickly - it's great motivation to do the whole BIU tomorrow.

It's great to see all the new names.  My best advice is to do the Slim & Limber, or any stretching, after each workout - it really helped prevent muscle soreness.

WK2, D5 -

I had to shorten my workout today - I overslept.  I did the band workout and the SI6 Pack workout, and hope to get in an extra 20minutes of the workout tonight.

Idgy - Fantastic job!  You're almost in the home stretch, and will be fitting into those skinny jeans in no time! Is BIU much more difficult than RIU?  I'm thinking of starting it over the weekend, when I have no excuse to shorten my workout.  I'm going to try the weights tomorrow, and see if they are easier to handle than the bands.

Lgutu - I got my SI6 from Ebay as well, and spent about $20 less than it cost on the infomercial.   I was a bit concerned about spending the cash on something that I wasn't sure would work for me, but  I figured it cost less in time and money than a month or two at a health club.

Thanks for the input everyone!

WK2, D3 -

Hello all - I'm back on track again, and actually welcome the return to sore muscles.  I'm hoping to start BIU by the end of the week.  Is it much more difficult than RIU?

pcygb - the nutrition plan is very restrictive - I wouldn't be able to handle it for more than a day!  Also, they do not recommend exercising while on the 6-day diet.

Also, I think the booklet said not to exercise within 3 hours after eating, but be sure to eat a small meal within 1 hour after exercising.  I'm pretty sure this is from the SI6 info - I've been reading quite a bit about nutrition and exercise lately, so i might have gotten mixed up with the source.

Idgy - are the weights really easier than the bands?  The bands tend to rub/scratch sometimes, but I thought this was due to doing the movements wrong.

Thanks for the motivational words everyone!

Hello all -

Yes, I disappeared from the radar for a while.  Had a small family crisis this past week, which took me away from home for a bit, so I had to take a few days off from  SI6.  I still managed to get in a few very short workouts, but I'm not counting the past few days as real workouts.  I'm starting again at week 2, day 1 (SIU just doesn't seem enough anymore - starting with RIU).  Idgy, I'll take your advice and mix up the workouts between SI6 and cardio - I was starting to feel a bit more muscle definition in the abs, but still couldn't see the difference - the fat was still on top of it!  Also, I might take it down to 5 days a week - I'm not getting enough sleep during the week, and the workout energy is suffering.

Congrats to you Danielle - you've given me the incentive to continue on to the end of this, even if I slack off a while.

It's nice to see all the new names in the discussion - more people to keep up the motivation.

Thanks all -

Wow, is it week 2 already?  It actually went by pretty fast, though I was a bit low on the energy today.  I made it through the whole workout, but I think these mornings of waking up an hour early are starting to get to me.  But, every morning I tell myself to do just 20 or 30 minutes of RIU, and by the time 30 minutes are up, it's just as easy to finish it off.

I've started to notice that there isn't as much burning in the arm muscles during the band workout.  Is it better to increase the band tension, or try to do all the reps?  I still haven't been able to make it through those last 8 shoulder presses.

Everyone sounds like they're keeping on track that's fantastic!-  Thanks for the support!

WK1, D6 - Hello all - I didn't get a chance to post all weekend, but I did manage to do RIU every day, though I haven't always had time to work on the abs.  Like all of you, I gave into some really good (but oh soooo bad for you) foods this weekend.  I guess when Friday rolled around, it seemed like a good time to reward myself for all the hard work during the week.   I had to cut today's RIU short - was running out of time this morning - so I'm counting this as my day off, and continuing with RIU tomorrow.  It's great being able to keep up to pace now - though I still have to take breaks on the leg lifts!

Idgy - I know what you mean by wanting a bit of the soreness to stay - mine's starting to fade away, so I know it's time to pick up the energy in my workouts.

Lisa - Nice to hear you're joining the club!  As you can probably tell from reading the posts, the first few days of the workout are the hardest (though Dan might have better input on this, as he's farther along in the program), so try to work through the first few days, even if you are sore.

Thanks for the continued motivation everyone!

Wk1,D3  I sucked it up and did RIU this morning.  It wasn't too difficult until she started using the bands - my arms were on fire!

Idgy - I was also thinking of putting off RIU - I was worried that it would be too hard, and that would make me skip a few days of working out.  But, I tried to ease myself into the workout, and took breaks whenever I needed it.  I didn't quite get all the way through the workout - my youngest child woke up early and decided to sit on my belly during the ab workout at the end.  Though I might be able to handle that in a few weeks, couldn't take the extra weight today!  But, I will be doing the SI6pack tonight.  Maybe you should try to ease into the RIU, and not try to do all the rep.  It'll take me a few more days to follow along at pace, but I'm looking forward to it.

Take care all - keep up the great work!

Wk1, D2 - The second day has gone pretty well - I did SIU & stretching this morning, and did a few minutes of SI6pack.  I felt really energized through most of the day.  Then I pushed it over the limit by going to my taekwondo class this evening - might pay for it tomorrow.

Idgy - thanks for the answer to my question.  I do feel a little sore today - get this - mostly in my glutes.  I must be working them out right!

Dan120 - Thanks for the info on the milk cure for the soreness.  I will definitely try it.

Any cure for cramping in the abs while doing the ab workout?  Thanks for the info everyone - keeps me motivated to hear that there are others out there who are also struggling a bit, but pushing through it.  Maybe I'll try RIU tomorrow...

Wk1, D1  Hi everyone - I did SIU for the first time this morning, followed by the stretch/limber workout.  I'm not feeling too sore yet, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow's wkout.  Pretty sure things will get difficult in the days to come - any advice on when to start the RIU set?

Also, I'm new to this whole forum/messageboard thing - can anyone tell me the difference between a "Quote" and a "Reply"?

Thanks, in advance, for all the good advice and motivation.
