INJECTION (1grandish) LESS THAN BRACES (2-4grand)

Your teeth fall out thats it. You cant fix that.
Insurance covers some "real" nose jobs if you have breathing issues.

Yes I've already stated that injections run about 500-1000 dollars. But regular nose jobs are about 10,000 which are more than braces. And it didn't seem like the top starter wanted a nose job for breathing issues but for cosmetic reasons. And if you really want to get down to it, people can always have fake teeth implanted if their real ones fall out from braces. My mother has some fake teeth (but she has never had braces before just trouble with her old teeth.) Although this is extemely rare and almost everyone I've ever known has had braces and have not experienced their teeth falling out. I'm NOT saying it's impossible but it is unlikely.

I think Britney's body looks perfectly fine. People seem to forget that she has had two children and she's not the first woman to gain weight during pregnancy. And many (I said many, not ALL) Hollywood female stars are very slim and often a size 2.

Of course braces are expensive... but they're not 10,000 dollars. Plus they are a longer process so there is time to fix any screw ups involved. And they can sometimes be covered by insurance.

Well you dont know what you are talking about a convetional nose job and an injection nose job are two different things. The injection is NOT perm. And is NOT as $$$$$$$$

Do you research. Braces carry risks too. Guess yoru ortho glazed over that part or you dont remember it.

I DO know that I'm talking about. Nose injections that don't involve any cutting run about 500-1000 dollars. But actual Rhinoplasty is on average 10,000 dollars. And the topic starter was not talking about nose injections. I know others were here but I wasn't referring to them. I would know the costs because my best friend had one this past summer. She also had plastic surgery to change her eyes, so she knows a lot about this kinda stuff. Braces may have risks but not as many and they can be fixed. I know you can fix rhinoplasty problems but it's not always guaranteed and it is more expensive.

chop_chop, braces are a little different from invasive surgery, wouldn't you say?  especially considering that the whole science of orthodonture is based on early intervention into problems that are usually not just cosmetic.  they put braces on kids at nine or ten now.

the problem with plastic surgery at 15 is that at 15 you don't even know what you look like.  teenagers' views of self are typically very distorted.  i would have told you that my nose and chin were too big, my eyes were too far apart, my boobs were too small, my feet were too big, i was fat (i probably weighed 110 at 5'8"), and i had a mustache.  i was wrong, on all counts (well, some people would say my boobs are still too small, but i like 'em).

shorelover, if you still hate your nose in five or ten years, that will be a different story.  you'll actually be seeing your nose.  but given your age and your history with eating disorders, you just can't see yourself accurately yet.  chances are, if you did get the surgery, you either wouldn't like the result or you'd find something else to be dissatisfied with.

That's a very good point. At fifteen I thought I had a flat chest, big nose, bushy eye brows, big butt, etc. Now I feel like my nose fits well with the rest of my face and people actually give me compliments on it. My breasts grew in over time, my butt is actually a good thing now, etc. Of course I don't think I'm perfect but overall I'm generally happy with my appearance. ANd I think that's something a lot of teenagers go through. Puberty messes with your emotions making you feel awkward. It sucks but it's also just a phase for most people.

Why does everyone think they know whats best for someone else?

People were shooting this kinda thing to me when I wanted braces. I paid for my own at 18...BEST thing I ever did for myself.
I spent about 4000

The injection nose job 1000. You could easily save that from a summer job. It only lasts a year but thats good considering your age/growth possibility. Traditional is at least 10-15 grand and has heavy complications.

Braces are a different story. I've had braces too and am very thankful for that. But you also have to remember that braces are also safe too. Rhinoplasty is safe if you get one of the best doctors in the nation (10,000 bucks on average) but there are still risks involve. NO ONE's gonna get a nose job for a 1000 dollars. Even getting one for 3000-5000 will not be close to the best you can do. And cosmetic surgery is not a time for compromising considering you are permanently altering your looks.

I should also add that I'm a 20 (about to be 21) year old female and I most definitely look completely different than I did at 15. Aside from getting my braces removed and growing out my hair, I haven't done much to enhance my looks. (Never dyed my hair, don't wear much make up, etc.) Yet everyone who's known me for years (and those who haven't seen me in years) agree that I have changed the most physically.

The way you mature on the outside really is different for everyone. Just because one girl stops growing at 16, doesn't mean every other girl will too.

I think I'll go with the Luna bar idea (I had thought of that before.) Although I have never tried the Fiber One bars before. I also like Nature Valley fruit and nut bars. And although I do love Special K original cereal, I've tried their bars before and they were a little hard and disappointing. But I do love Luna bars.

Actually I think I have a better idea on the sweets thing. Instead of eating one of their cookies and brownies (since I won't be 100% sure of how many calories are in them) I think I'll just bring along some diet desserts and eat one at dinner each night. Like weight watchers muffins or Mrs. Freshley's cookies. ANybody have any particular favorites?

Yeah I was thinking about bring some luna bars since they satisfy sweet cravings but don't pack as many calories as normal desserts. I was looking up desserts on here and most pies are 900 calories! So known of that. I may eat one cookie or one brownie at dinner each night and log them in as 250 calories. But then again, I may just avoid them altogether. I wanna fill myself up on veggies and fruit first and maybe make a fruit dessert. THat way when I'm full, the junky stuff won't be as appealing. And I wanna drink LOTs of water too. Maybe I should look up how an average slice of bread is and maybe make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich while I'm there too. I'll be there for 3 nights and  4 days.

I definitley want to take my time and eat SLOW. I figure if I do take more time, not only will it give my body a chance to be full, but I may run out of time for  getting seconds since we ARe on a tight schedule each day.

Just seems crazy to not wear one, like, why risk it?.  Mind you I'm an F, lol.

I'm gonna start wearing one when I work out too. But do I also need to wear one to bed at night? Geez I've been a girl my whole life, why did I not know this? lol

Probably the same reason I didn't try make up or styling my hair till I was 17. Just didn't have anyone around to ask about that kinda stuff...

And the paparazi calling her a bad mother is just crossing the line. How the heck do they know how she honestly feels about her children? People need to stop and asked themselves "How would I like it if I made a mistake or two as a new parent and then have the world tell me I'm a bad mother or that I don't love my own children?" She's the one who knows how she truly feels about her children, the real love- not the media or the public.

Oh my goodness I totally agree! Yes she may have made some mistakes but that doesn't mean she's not a human being. She has a right to her privacy just like any other person on the planet. We've all done stupid things too- whether we would like to admit it or not, her mistakes are just caught on camera. No one can judge her, only she knows how she is feeling every second of the day. Why does everyone forget the fact that it's the paparazi's job to exploid celebrities and create various rumours? Just leave her alone and let her have some time to herself so she can figure out how to make things better in her life.  She's not a doll, she's a woman, a human BEING.

When you know you need one, you really need one!  If I don't have a sports bra on, there's a ton of bouncing going on and it's pretty painful.  If you have to ask, you either don't need one or don't need it very badly.

Lol yeah when it comes to my "rack" I have never really been too blessed. But I have a big booty though! =D

Sorry but what is so good about having your period back?
Wouldn't it be alot better to not have it, so its not so gross and stuff. i'm just wondering.

Getting a regular period is an important part of having a healthy female body. I'm definitely not ready to have kids now but when I'm about 30 years old I will and I'll want to make sure that body can do so.

Btw- pregnancy is not a possibility here. I'm personally saving myself for marriage and the last intimate thing I did with a man was kiss my ex-boyfriend in the summer of 2006. So this is definitely not some pregnancy scare. =)

Well I'm going to Sports Authority today to buy some new dumbbells. (I like using dumbbells when powerwalking on the treadmill each day.) Maybe they'll have some inexpensive sports bras there.

I've heard that 30 minutes is good for maintenance. My guy friend does it for 30 minutes a day and he's in amazing shape! But 90 minutes/ 6 days a week definitley sounds too much. I personally do it for 30-40 minutes/6 days a week and it works perfectly for me!

Yeah I don't plan on going on birth control. A couple of years ago my doctor put me on it to clear up my skin  and my body felt crazy! I guess I was just assuming that my period would be back in a month lol. But I'll be patient, at least I have been able to maintain my weight which was a struggle I was going through for months.

Hmm... I've alwaus had a naturally "big booty" even though I'm otherwise a petite girl. So I work to keep it toned. But I've heard that squats work well. And I've noticed that most athletic women have big butts so there must be some work out to help.

It's definitely NOT a waste! I power walk on the treadmill 6 days a week for 40 minutes while using 5 lb dumbbells. (I used to power walk with no dumbbells for 1 hour/ 5 days a week but that was too much for my body.) Anyways now I have a good balance. My tummy is toned, I fit into all my clothes nicely, my metabolism is high and my arms, legs and butt are all getting toned too! It's also a nice way to relieve stress and cardio in general is great for your heart! You'll love the results and will want to do it forever!

Oh okay I think I started eating 1700-1800 calories a day in the middle of December. Before that I was always eating 1200-1400 BIG MISTAKE and working out 60 minutes/ 5 days a week. I now work out 30- 40 minutes 6 days a week and have successfully maintained my weight. So maybe I just need to be more patient. I also started taking a multi vitamin last month too.
