Fake some confidence for now people will respond to it. Try putting yourself in situations where you have to practice overcoming your shy nature. As for reacting to attention, accepted the complements graciously. Congratulations on your loss!

Well radical statements about race, religion, gender, and politics are good starting points. Historically posts about assets necessary to wear a thong or boy shorts, spelling, and calories in lip-gloss have created much drama.

One of the art teachers I had did grade very heavily on skills. Effort only got you a C-. She kind of saw it as her duty to put all the first year art kids to the test. She graded very hard only 4 A’s in the class I was in, but she was an excellent teacher and everyone who paid attention to her saw dramatic improvements in their work.

Weight Loss Depression... Jan 20 2009

Focusing on things that make you happy sometimes helps. If you can get outside do it take a walk.  Keep occupied as much as you can so you don’t focus on the depression. Depression is no fun weather or not you gain weight or lose it. Personally I combat my own tendencies by working outdoors in the cold or in a greenhouse. I’ve never had any problems during the winter if I get to spend time in a greenhouse. If it gets too bad seek good professional help.

I feel that way too sometimes, could be why I’m lurking in the lounge reading about smelly dogs instead of deadlifts and broccoli for a change.

Original Post by purespark:

I've read that the plug-in type of air fresheners are responsible for a fair number of housefires.  So if someone in your household insists on using a disgusting one, that can be your excuse to throw it away.  :)

Haha justification to destroy the tropical decay air freshener.  Maybe some high-grade essential oils would satisfy his need to make the house smell flunkey without choking me.

Fitness Exercise Addiction? Oct 11 2008

I have a hard time convincing myself I need a day off too. Like right now tomorrow is supposed to be a slack off day but I find myself trying to validate more exercise. The rational side of me keeps telling the exercise fiend “this is how overuse injuries happen, and I don’t want any more of those.”

That exercise high and extra energy feels so good and it is awesome to look in the mirror and see muscles and not jelly rolls.

When i have problems like this I turn to peanut butter. It goes down easy and boosts my calories fast, with very little effect on the knotting stomach. From past experience not eating only made the anxiety worse, but distracting myself helps. Movies books activities.

Motivation anyone else with similar stats stuck :( Jul 03 2008

My stats are different but I'm also struggling with the last bit of weight. The motivation keep up the discipline that got me this far (180 to 139lbs)  is hard to find some days. One of the few things i can find motivation in is weight training. I can see and feel results with weights that I rarely see on the scale.

A pair of teens once showed up at my grandmothers house where my father was loading fire wood into a trailer. They started to talk and he politely declined, telling them he was an Orthodox Satan Worshiper. He then proceeded to invite them to his cults bonfire because they really needed a pair of virgins for the nights ceremony.

Grandma has not had any Jehovah's witnesses at her door in almost 40 years.

The knees are improvingCool. I been doing the calf raises, strait leg dead lifts, and the laying on the floor leg lift thing. I reduced the number in the sets and used moderate weight.  Lots of icing the joints and more days with lower intensity cardio.

You can always log it and not eat back all the calories if you have doubts. But if it was a tough hike you could have burned that many.

I was doing squats, dead lifts and calf raises before I hurt my knees. The squats were aggravating the injury. Would lifting a lower weight still be beneficial?

I was helping a coworker do research to set up a fitness trail at the park we worked at last summer. When I realized the tools were available suddenly weight loss became possible. At that time I had no idea how many calories my body burned and that gave me a starting point. This year I'm down to 140lbs from  180 lbs and will be able to lead hikes on the spiffy new fitness trail.

Have you tried a sling for a gas powered weed eater? It puts a lot of the weight on your torso instead of your arms. When I weed eat trails I always use one and can cover several miles with much less effort.
