I'm leaving tomorrow for my trip, but I'll be back on June 26th, so I'll definitely be back in the game on the 27th. | Oh, man, sthmandies, that's really bad--her being rude to you on top of it! I hope you told her to shove it lol. I also carry my weight in my middle, and I, too, have been asked when I was due--at first I thought, due for what? Then I realized, and just kind of shook my head in shock and said, "No." And this was a GUY who said this to me--usually it's women who comment on that. Anyway, he looked as embarrassed as I did. | |||

| I'm sorry you had such a bad day--sometimes it just seems like nothing goes right! On those days I always feel like karma is catching up to me hehe. As far as the money issue goes, don't feel guilty about relying on your parents--you're still a kid and that's their job as parents. In a year, you can get a part time job to have extra spending money, but they'll always be there to support you (if it makes you feel any better, I'm 26 and my parents still help me out b/c I'm still in school--student loans just don't cover it anymore--so I feel REALLY guilty). But at your age, don't sweat it. And as for your mom staying up to wait on you, I know it can seem like a pain. My mom would wait on me all throughout high school. Even as a senior when I'd stay out late, she'd be asleep on the couch until I got home. I hated it (meant I couldn't do too much partying lol), but now that I look back on it, I realize she didn't do it to make my life hell, but because she was concerned. She wanted to allow me my freedom to be with my friends, but needed to know I was safe in the process. And I also now realize what a sacrifice that had to be to her--that every time I went out she made sure to be available to me. Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is, chalk it up to a bad day and don't sweat your parents--they love you. And in a few years, YOU'LL BE OUT!!! | |||

| The abbreviations don't bother me as much, because I know what they mean and they're meant to be spelled as such. I just can't stand incorrect spelling in general. How long does it take to reread a message before it's posted? And it's not just teenagers who can't spell--there are a great many adults on this site who make serious errors. In fact, I've seen a lot of very well thought out and correctly spelled posts by teenagers lately, regardless of content. But there are some common ones everyone should know: loose--These pants are no longer loose on me lose--I want to lose weight weight--how much you weigh wait--I hate having to wait to lose weight their--belonging to them they're--they are there--over there than--I am fatter than you then--I will lose weight, and then I'll be skinny Sorry to be a bit negative in this post--this is just something that really bothers me. But I still love reading the forums! P.S. If I misspelled anything in this post, I'm sorry--and feel free to call me an idiot! |

| If I were you, I wouldn't even drink the regular coffee. It apparently has an extraordinarily high amount of caffeine, so that not only do people become addicted to caffeinated products, but specifically to STARBUCKS products, which also cost an arm and a leg as far as coffee goes. | |||

Actually, 36% body fat is not that far off for adult women--21-35% is considered normal, depending on age. For adult men, up to about 22% is normal. Here's a link: http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/library/blbodyf atcharts.htm Some estimates are a bit lower than this, but not by too much. Hope that helps! |

| I personally hate for guys to pay for anything, and always have. Not that I feel "obligated" in any way if he pays, but I just feel like to keep the playing field level, each person should pay for themselves. Only after a few dates will I let him pay for me, and then only because I know I'd probably have a chance to pick up the next tab. I should probably lighten up on this, though, as I think I've inadvertantly offended some people who were just as stubborn as me! | |||

| Health & Support | Laparoscopy | Jun 04 2007 10:40 (UTC) |

| Hi, kitten. I've never had laparoscopic surgery, but I just had a friend who did the other day for what they thought was an ovarian tumor (luckily it turned out not to be), but they also found that she had severe endometriosis. From what I know from her (and other's) is that abdominal surgery is not fun. It hurts afterwards--I guess you don't realize how much you use your abdominals until they're cut. BUT, the good news is, the laparoscopic procedure is extremely minimally invasive as far as surgery goes, and you usually only end up with 3 or 4 small incisions, so pain and recovery time are greatly reduced. I'm sure your doctor told you all this, but sometimes it's good to hear a first hand account (or second hand in this case haha). And I don't mean to scare you about the pain thing--I just usually feel it's better to know what to be prepared for. As far as the possible endometriosis, that's no fun either, but there are treatments which can help, and it's better to find out earlier than later to avoid any possible complications. Anyway, I'm not sure if that helped at all, just wanted to say good luck, and I hope everything turns out well. And don't forget to give yourself plenty of time and patience to heal and start feeling better. | |||
| Health & Support | Body rejecting cereal | Jun 04 2007 10:25 (UTC) |
1 |
| Do you have this problem with any other foods, such as anything containing oat, barley, rye or wheat? It's just a thought, but you could possibly have a sensitivity to gluten that's found in a lot of those types of foods, especially cereals--it's called celiac disease, aka celiac sprue. It can be mild, but in others it can lead to severe diarrhea which can cause malabsorption. It's a possiblity if you had the same problems when you were younger which stopped with removing those types of products from your diet. Anyway, it's just a thought, and a doctor could run tests for it. If that IS the cause, it's good to go ahead and find out, as it is associated with other conditions, such as a slightly higher risk of certain cancers. Hope that helps--but the idea to eat the cereal on some days and the milk on others is a good one--it'll let you know for sure what the problem is. Hope everything works out! | |||

| I know what you mean, but my concern is over the estimated values for activities. I mean, a 20 min cardio workout for someone who's 130 lbs is going to be a lot different from someone who's 250 lbs. Anyone have any advice on this? | |||
| Fitness | 4 days of inactivity.. crap. | Jun 04 2007 10:06 (UTC) |
7 |
| No, it's good that you didn't work your body too hard during a time of sickness. Your body needs those extra calories to fight it off and recover. Just go back to your regular routine of working out--you don't want extra exercise to put even more stress on your body now that you've just gotten better. | |||
