Good for you for losing so much weight and keeping it off! I know that often when I'm eating straight out of the package I feel like I'm not the one in control. I'll eat a little bit, and then a little more, and then go back and take another handful, until I have no idea how much I've eaten. It helps me to admit to myself that I'm going to eat some, then take it down and measure out a serving and put the package back away. Then I drink some water while I'm eating it and make sure I log it in here. |

Sounds good - I like almost everything I've gotten from there. My current favorite is the dried blueberries, which I love to have on oatmeal in the morning - it makes oatmeal a treat. |

You could shovel some snow! That would earn you a few extra calories... Fiber one cereal can be filling. 1/2 cup for 60 calories. Butternut squash. Hard to suggest something when I don't know what's in your house. Vegetables tend to be really low in calories and you can eat a lot of those, and they're high in fiber, which can help you feel more full. However, I'd say maybe you should go a little over your allowance with something really high in fiber and satisfy that hunger so you don't end up eating a lot of stuff that's bad for you. Drink a lot, too. Herbal tea helps me feel like I'm actually drinking something other than water. Good luck!

Last year I made green beans for thanksgiving that everyone raved over -probably healthier than the green bean casserole. I tossed them with a little olive oil and kosher salt, roasted them in the oven on a pizza stone. I think I put in carmelized onions, and then drizzled over a little reduced balsamic vinegar and sprinkled it with toasted sliced almonds. You can control how much salt and oil and the rest of it is good for you! We used to make divinity when I was a kid, but I was never crazy about it. Nice texture, but too sweet and not much flavor. You whip egg whites with a sugar syrup, if I remember right. Add a little food coloring to make it pink, and maybe some chopped walnuts. eh. not my thing. For me, it's the cinnamon rolls and cookies and super buttery crescent rolls. And my sister wants me to try going gluten free..... |

someone recommended the low sodium tomato soup to me, and it was easily the best tomato soup I've ever had from a can - maybe even better than my homemade version. And only 100 calories a cup. Wish I could afford to eat it more often.

I've found that potatoes don't freeze well unless they're pureed, so a smooth soup with potato is great, but if it has chunks, the texture is off. And soups with milk/cream tend to curdle a bit. Often I'll add that after it's thawed rather than before it's frozen. Also sometimes I'll freeze a soup base and add the extra broth later, to save space in the freezer. I freeze soup all the time, too. Have fun! |

I've had that, too. Mostly when I haven't been exercising much and then I exercise, I get super itchy thighs - sometimes so bad that they turn all bright red like I'm having an allergic reaction. It lasts up to an hour, but usually goes away in 15 minutes. I've never talked to a doctor about it, but I've noticed that it only tends to happen when I haven't been working out (like for weeks). I think of it as my blood pumping through all my cells that haven't been getting much action and cleansing them of all the allergens/toxins that have been accumulating there. It's a little wake-up call that I need to get my butt moving. I'm curious if anyone knows what it really is. |

| Thanks everyone for your input. I'll try a scale for a while until I get the hang of it, but you're right about it not being too many calories. | |||

| My absolute favorite way is to get the extra firm kind and cube it. Then I sprinkle on some soy sauce and a smidgeon of sesame oil. Broil until it starts to get golden brown and crispy around the edges of the top, then stir it and broil some more. Also works to bake it - takes longer, but you don't need to check it and stir as often. This is great hot, or I even like the leftovers cold on a salad. Serve with some broccoli & brown rice, a veggie stir-fry, whatever. Yummy. | |||

I think the reason I haven't told my friends is because most of them are a lot heavier than I am. I don't have very much to lose, and I'm afraid it would offend them, like I would be saying, the weight I'm at is unacceptable to me, even though I know they would be happy to be at that weight. I have told my husband, and he is very supportive. I've never counted calories or dieted before in my life (I'm 38), but the pounds have creeped up on me over the years, and last winter I found myself within 5 pounds of my top pregnant weight and decided it was time to make a change. I have since then gotten down about 8 pounds, and I have another 7 to go. I think one of the biggest benefits of logging all my foods is realizing how very good for me good foods are and how bad the bad ones are. I never really paid that much attention before, although I did make an effort to eat lots of veggies and legumes and whole grains. Like yesterday I logged 1/2 a bagel from Panera (I was smart enough to not eat the whole thing), and that half was 200 calories!!! I started looking at their other foods and realized that most of the times I have eaten there thinking I was getting a healthy meal, I came close to 1200 calories in one sitting! Now I have the information to make better decisions, like getting the salad dressing on the side, choosing the apple, etc. I hope that what I've learned will make it easier to maintain when I get to the weight I want. |

You've gotten so far! You're doing great. Keep it up! I'm amazed at how much self-control it takes to lose any weight, and really impressed that you've done so much already. |

I'd bet you're gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat. That's a good thing! Pay more attention to how your clothes fit than the scale. I've been doing this about the same amount of time as you, and although I know I've got a daily calorie deficit of 500-800 calories, I haven't lost any weight yet. It's got to be that I'm exercising more and increasing muscle (I can see more muscle tone - not much, but a bit). Good luck! |

Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
