My son realized immediately that if you put Anything at all into the potty seat it would sing, so no poop or pee ever made it in. We got a seat for the toilet and taught him to sit and push it down, very effectively. It worked well because even though he can stand at home now, sometimes out in public they are too tall in the women's rooms and he has to sit. He does it with no problem! Plus, I liked using the regular potty because then when we went out he wasn't scared of it! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | maternity leave - How long did you take? | Jul 22 2008 04:09 (UTC) |
1 |
Every district will be different, but maternity leave isn't offered with most schools. I teach and just used up all my sick days, which was only 27 (that included my personal days). yes, not even 6 school weeks! :( So I had a LOT of money lost (175/day to be exact). IF you have Aflac or something similar they will pay you 60% of your income, BUT there are guidelines about how soon you can have a baby. I signed up in Aug of 2005 and couldn't have the baby till after Aug 1 2006 (She was born on Aug 14).
Also, ask around as to what you will need to do. I had to write a letter to the school board formally requesting my sick days cover being out for maternity reasons. It was just a formality, but needed done.

| The Lounge | Bra Fitting? | Jul 22 2008 03:53 (UTC) |

Victoria's Secret, and most department stores will do fittings for you. I find the actual bra shops the best though. I go to a store in our area called The Bra Lady, and she measures the best. You need fittings every once in a while, in case of changes, and bras should be changed fairly frequently because they lose elasticity (which sucks because they are so expensive!)
My fittings are always fine, and I feel so much better after finding the bra that fits. I have the opposite problem-not many people carry a 34 F! :( |

Do you have comcast or any other cable with on demand programming? My cable company has a channel that is just on demand fitness videos (mostly workouts, but some informational) done in your living room with minimal stuff, or you can tape/dvr a workout from the fitness channel (for when walking gets too boring). There are strength training sessions, cardio, walking indoors, stretching, etc. Good luck! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | finally pregnant again | Jul 17 2008 14:52 (UTC) |

I gained 60 lbs with my first and had JUST lost it all when I got preg with my second. I was concerned about gaining too much, because I knew I had done it before! I did NOT diet, I just portioned out what I ate for the first month or two, until I could really see what sizes I should be eating (wish it worked well now to get more off...anyways...) and did light cardio. Plus running around after a 2 year old helped-I couldn't just sit on the couch and eat large bowls of ice cream anymore!! I gained 17 lbs up until the last 3 weeks, when I gained 6 more-probably because I felt so large and it was so hot in August I could barely move!! (total 22). Doc was ok with that because I started out overweight to begin. Of course two years later I am still battling the last few pounds, plus some since I've been overweight anyway. 6lbs overweight is not that much, I wouldn't worry about losing it because you are just going to gain it back anyway! Just keep up the exercising and don't gorge yourself and you will do just fine! Congrats! |

| Fitness | What is this popping/tingling sensation in legs after workout? | Jul 13 2008 01:25 (UTC) |

I get it a ton too. I have NO idea what it is, but I like to think it is fat pockets bursting open and falling away. (Since I continue to have trouble losing weight I have to say that is probably not right, but hey, a girl can wish can't she!) |

| Health & Support | I hate to admit that I am SICK AND TIRED of getting TTOM | Jul 12 2008 20:04 (UTC) |

Hope this question isn't too personal (my next visit isn't until oct, so I plan on talking to doc then). Does seasonale lessen PMS symptoms? I can barely function and feel like the worst person on the planet right before and during, and my husband has even suggested taking whatever I need to so that I don't get it as often (I don't need bc since hubby has had a vas, but am TIRED of losing control of myself!) But I am concerned it will be even Worse if the hormones build up or something! Thanks! |

| Foods | Half Portions?? | Jul 12 2008 19:58 (UTC) |

I always cut my meal in half immediately and wrap it up and eat it the next day for lunch (I NEVER throw leftovers away from restaurants, they are too expensive to toss!!!). I have also been known to order from the seniors or kids meals. Some offer a "light" menu, which is sometimes less cals, sometimes smaller portions. |

Yeah, I guess I should have been more clear. She did explain that the belly slicing thing *could* happen, but her aunt wasn't having that done! My niece then decided a few years ago that she wasn't having children because of the *possible* stomach pain, and has decided to put her savings towards adoption! I am pretty certain she has since decided against that and has spent her savings elsewhere, but man did the csect thing freak her out! |

I haven't yet, but will ONLY answer specifically what is asked. My best friends 10 year old daughter still thinks I went to the hospital two years ago and the doc handed me the baby. She never asked how it came out. My niece who is the same age asked when she was 6 (when I had my first) and my sis in law told her how they come out. She was actually relieved that they come out of somewhere, because the thought of a doc sliciing open her belly was horrendous to her! Also, she asked what sex was one day, and my sis in law paused and asked her what she meant. It was on a paper or form for school, and it was asking male/female! Be sure you only answer what they are really asking. They will need to know eventually, but there is no reason to push it earlier than than they are interested! |

| Health & Support | help on finishing the food when no longer hungry | Jan 08 2008 23:00 (UTC) |
|
| I too use small plates, and then think it is ok for seconds!! I have started making just enough for our family of 4 (and two of those are small children who don't eat much anyway) so there isn't extra left. If I make extras I try really really hard to package it up for tomorrow's lunch right away instead of wanting to eat it. It is VERY hard for me too!! | |||
| Foods | Bad to have Ice cream days in a row??! | Oct 08 2007 23:34 (UTC) |

Is it ok to consider chocolate a vegetable, since it comes from the cocoa bean? (I know it really doesn't but some days I wish and pray it was a veggie). By the way, the time I lost the most weight I had ice cream EVERY DAY. Just portion it out and don't go overboard. I looked forward to it everyday, and would freak out every time I saw other chocolate stuff because I knew I was getting my little bit at the end of the day! |
