Thank you Pilgrimdude and Chrissy1988 for your fast reply. I do eat a very high protein breakfast every morning, either egg whites and canadian bacon or milk smoothie with extra protein powder or both. I don't usually start the day off with water but I have some after eating and I always have a cup next to me throuout the day. I do weigh myself every morning whether I like it or not. I do wait for awhile before eating, though, because I get up at 5:30 to get my kids off to school and I don't feel like eating yet. I then go back to bed after they leave at 6:30 and sleep until 8:00. Then I get up and weigh myself and start my day off with a healthy breakfast. I also eat small meals or snacks all day long. I still count and weigh everything except my vitamins. I do feel like some of my weight is muscle, but that much? I don't know if it's better to start eating at 5:30 and then go back to bed, or continue to wait until later like I have been doing. I just don't want to go back to square one. |

| The Lounge | Cat advice needed... | Aug 30 2009 17:30 (UTC) |

I hope you and your cats are doing okay. Just wanted to let you know that I have two cats that basically went through the same thing. When the younger cat turned about 2-3 years old, she wanted to be boss, I guess. My older cat is very shy and only wanted to hide from her but she wouldn't let him and ,need I say, there was a lot of fur flying! After a vet visit, which showed they were both healthy and fine, I just let them figure it out on their own. I love both my cats very much and didn't want to give up on them, so I just dealt with the cat fights for about a year! Now they are fine, not best friends or anything but they tolerate each other without fighting. They eat and sleep in the same room and sometimes sit next to each other and that's all I can ask for. Just give your cats lots of time and love and I'm sure they will be fine. |

| Foods | Refrigerating bread? | Aug 16 2009 14:49 (UTC) |

I put my bread in the fridge all the time. Have done this for many years. I live in hot, humid Florida. Even with AC my pantry gets too hot to keep it out for very long without the bread getting moldy. I don't think it makes it get stale, it just gets a little firmer from being cold. I just take out what I need and let it sit at room temperature for a little bit or put it in the microwave with a paper towel around it for a few seconds to bring it back to it fresh softness. |

| Maintaining | I gained muscle, I hope? | Mar 03 2009 17:46 (UTC) |

Thanks for the feedback. Will I first gain more weight with this increase of calories, and if I do , how long before I start seeing a difference on the scale? I'm all for eating more if that's what my body needs, I'm just afraid of overdoing it and not knowing if that's what I'm doing. Other than the exercise I mentioned above, I'm really not a very active person. I like to read, do puzzles, sew, work or play on the computer and such, and shop, but that's about it. Just a ballpark figure of how long to not worry about the scale would be good. I will keep an eye on my tape measure though!

I love my wine. Just type in "wine" in the search box and you should find all different kinds of wine. You might just have to go generic in this case. |

Congrats to you too, bobev, and to everyone that has changed their life by eating healthier and exercising. It not only helps you, but sends out a positive message to those around you. Young people, especially, will see that it's never too late to change for the better. And I have made this a permanent lifestyle change. My cholesterol went down and I'm more toned, and have more energy than before. Even my doctor told me not to change a thing, she couldn't believe I was turning 50! I just want everyone to know it's possible at any age. Don't give up or you will never find out how healthy you can be. |

I'm a fellow 5 footer. I've found that protein keeps me feeling full the longest. Try an egg, they always worked well. Or try sugar free Instant Breakfast that always keeps the hunger pangs away for a long while. I also like to eat beans, low fat and good fiber and protein. Also fruit is a food from heaven. Low in calories and lots of fiber.Good luck and don't give up. |

Since you only got 2 hugs so far, I thought I'd give you another one. I know how you feel. Don't feel guilty when you have a bad day. Just remember this is not a time limit thing, this is the rest of your life! You want to be healthy and happy forever not just one day or one week or even one month. You just look at the one day as "that's life, you only live once" and you get back to your healthy eating and exercising. Look at how far you've come and be proud of yourself. Everybody has a "what the heck" kind of day every now and then. I just had one this past weekend. I ate a lot more than usual, drank a lot more than usual and even had fattening desserts, boy was it fun! But I'm fine and I'm back to my usual routine. If I eat too much one day, I eat a little less the next day, just like zig zagging my calories. It usually all works out just fine. Good luck and be happy with your self.

Thank you so much for the replies. Just knowing someone out there is listening to my venting made me feel so much better. I have just been stuck so long at the same weight. Months at 109-110, no matter how much I eat or exercise. I actually saw 107-108 in April for a couple of days, but then it was gone. I guess it's better than gaining. Maybe it's muscle! My dh says I look good and I feel great, it's just that I still see a little "jiggly stuff". I suppose that just takes a while to get rid of. I may take a little break from the low calories next week, it's my wedding anniversay. Then I'll get back on the wagon and see what happens. I am happy, just frustrated. This is the least I've ever weighed in my entire adult life! Thanks again. |

| Foods | Movie theater munchies??? | Jun 02 2008 01:48 (UTC) |

I popped it just before I left the house and it was just fine. I was afraid it would be soggy but it wasn't. I did put it in an extra large bag instead of a small one so there was plenty of room for the steam and so it didn't get squished. Also, my drive to the movie theater wasn't that far. I really enjoyed it, because last time I went with my family I didn't bring anything and just had a bottle of water, (I can't have caffeine), and the smell of the buttered popcorn was driving me crazy. |

We went to the movies the other weekend and I brought an apple, cut up into small bite size pieces, a bag of fat free pretzels, a bag of fat free fruit snacks, a bag of fat free popcorn ,that I popped at home and then put in a ziploc bag, and a bag of peanuts. Needless to say that I didn't eat it all and I shared it with my kids, but I had "stuff" and I didn't feel guilty. I also had a big purse! |
