there are definitely better choices out there if you're trying to lose weight. but if you are craving them, there is no need to cut them out of your diet. maybe because this is a weight loss forum and she wants to assess how well they fit into her diet plan? |

ricen - sorry you seem upset. this thread was about sparking debate, not for sharing maintenance stories. i hope you can grasp the difference. thanks for your input thus far. |

great post trustwomen. the thread is not about a specific size or weight. it's asking why is it that our bodies seem to gain rather than maintain. to that end trustwomen has offered it's because you lose track of calories when you're not 'counting' closely. |

pandajenn, i cut it down because it was wordy, not because i'm trying to argue some point. like i said at the beginning, i want the post to be torn apart. to reply to your post, that's right i'm asking, if you're able to get down to say a size zero as you've offered, why is it our bodies tend to gain even when sticking to a moderate calorie intake. |

it won't kill you to cut it out. but it's kind of a life half lived without it! for me anyway. i wanted to try stevia. until the fda recently refused to approve it. |

i can understand why you'd feel disappointed. but two and half weeks isn't very long for a 'diet'. give it as little as 4 to 6 weeks and you will def. see some sort of change if you're working out and eating right. at your height, it should take too much weight loss before you see a change. what is your waist in inches? |

if what they say is true, i.e. a calorie is a calorie AND it doesn't matter when you eat, just how many calories you eat in a day then it shouldn't matter that your calories are concentrated at night. sure if you eat more calories earlier in the day, you have the chance to 'burn them off', but if you're in deficit for the first half of the day, and simply pack it on during the second half, it'd be much the same thing. at least that's how i understand it. hope that makes sense. |

just make sure the snacks fit into your daily calories. if need be, make the snacks your 'meals'. don't have big meals and the snacks in between. have snacks throughout the day. try to make them healthy snacks. good luck. good nurses make the world go round. |

unless you have a medical reason, i don't really see why you should cut it out completely. then again, i don't discriminate much between sugars. if you eat fruit, that's plenty of sugar. you might notice cutting out chocolate, candy, etc, works for you. especially if you previously ate large amounts.

i hate reading posts that start, 'everyone is different, blah, blah', but i have to do it here. bodies sometimes react differently to certain exercises. cycling may trim down legs and behind for some, but bulk others a bit. with the blah blah said, here's my suggestion. a lot of cardio and some squats and lunges. if you're a fan of weight machines, go easy. running is ideal. |

try not to be obsessive. if you are paranoid with your calorie counting and want to play it safe, estimate up. call it 100 calories and put it behind you. |

starving yourself, you will lose weight. thing is that your metabolism will be messed up, and you'll put some of the weight lost back on once you start 'eating' again.
