Very effecient. Laughing
The human body is amazing. Do you eat mainly carbohydrates? When something becomes more available to the body, it tends to create more enzymes to break down the substance. Think of alcoholics - they require more and more booze to become drunk. This is because the body is producing more enzymes to break it down faster.

I get that feeling when I become dehydrated/eat too much salt. When I stretch in the morning my calf muscles with spasm and HOLY MAN. It is PAINFUL.

Perhaps try drinking even more water or cutting back your salt intake for a while to see if it gets any better? :)

Weight Gain so bloated... Jul 30 2009

I've experienced this a few times.. and if it's anything like what I went through, I feel for you! It was one of the most painful things in my life! The only thing that helped was to eat a hot bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon and nut butter. The oats help calm your stomach and the heat alleviates the gas. You may also try Gas-X. Unfortunately mine was too severe for it to make much difference, but it's worth a shot. But really, at least try the oats. =) Don't expect it to work immediately, but you should start to feel better shortly.

One thing... Don't eat more fruit or veggies!!!! =P

I bet you don't even look a speck different. :) Maybe some bloating, but man, I think every female on Earth deals with bloating once in awhile! Remember that those numbers are just numbers. Any extra energy that you consumed during your binge will naturally slip off, probably without you - or the scale - even really noticing. From personal experience, I can vary around 5 pounds a day. I can take my measurements, and I'm still the same size.
I encourage you not to worry about your single day of overeating, your body will compensate for it if you just listen to it, and not an over-anxious brain! :P

If you'd like a personal story...

My weight had dropped significantly without me really noticing or caring last month. I weighed myself and it scared the CRAP outta me. So I binged. I ate 2 boxes of high calorie cereal a day for a week (think Kashi Go Lean, granola, etc.) to bring it back up. Of course this was a stupid idea - I needed to take it slowly. :P I gained a decent amount of weight. After awhile I snapped out of it, and just listened to my body. I naturally dropped a couple of pounds, and my body settled out - AND! I'm quite content with how it looks right now. =) I'm unsure if this is reassuring or not - I hope so. Take care!

What's this post for? You don't need our help - you did it all on your own! :) "So I simply ate my breakfast, lunch, fruit, and special snack I usually eat everyday and feel great". Good for you!! That was the best choice you could have made. Laughing You broke the cycle already! Now you know "wow. That made me feel like crap." and can continue on with your sensible, healthy eating.

Maintaining 10 Day Vacation in Colorado! Jul 13 2009

I wouldn't bring a tape measure... you said that you'd be walking a lot. I know that when I exercise my legs the measurements temporarily become larger. This retention could easily cause you to freak out and ruin your trip! :P I'd say don't bother; make healthy choices, engage in active entertainment, enjoy yourself, and come home satisfied and ready to continue your healthy lifestyle. :)

Most of the mothers I know have gained quite a bit of weight after pregnancy and can not, no matter how hard they try, drop the pregnancy weight. Perhaps it's natural?

Either way, it sounds like you need a 'vacation'! You should take a spa day, volunteer somewhere, call up some old friends... anything that will make you feel good about yourself. I think.. before you can change anything, you have to learn to love yourself as you are... and strive to improve yourself so that you'll love yourself even more. :)

Young Calorie Counters Teens, how many calories do you eat? Jul 12 2009

Original Post by lizzel:

Heyy

This is probably gonna sound weird but i eat between 700 to 900 calories per day, most of the time 800 calories. Im trying to lose weight even though im at a healthy weight. I weigh 56 kg (i think thats about 125 pounds...) im 1.68m tall and i just turned 15. I run a few times a week and each time I run about half an hour, i do it because its fun and when im tired i stop. I think i don't eat so many calories because i eat only 3 times a day, 4 at most. I just do so much in a day that i forget and see that its time for lunch or dinner. My breakfast is about 200 calories, lunch also and dinner changes every day. Its not like i eat like this EVERY day, its just now because its summer. During school it can be different, I sometimes eat 600 calories and the next day im at 1000 or more. I don't do it on purpose. I gain reaaally fast, maybe because i used to be overweight... . I don't eat like this on purpose, i just lose my appitite whenever I see the amount of calories in something and wait for lunch or dinner. In my family its really annoying... my oldest sister is always busy with foods and everytime i eat something she just HAS to say; You really gonna eat that?? You'll get fat again y'know?? It just makes me so mad! She keeps telling me that im huuuge because she weighs like 4 kg less than me. IF i snack, which i rarely do, i like to have an apple or something i really don't know the name of in english.. in Dutch its a 'rijstwafel'.. something with rice and its delicious and low in calories. I think its just something i deal with because of my annoying family...

xx

Don't worry about it. Calories are never exact. That 200 calorie recipe? It's not 200 calories no matter HOW exact you measure. Absolutely everything is just a ballpark figure. =)

The calories aren't going to magically disappear. There's the basic thermic effect, etc. but that goes with everything you eat.

Can you figure out why you keep binging? Bored? Tired?

Health & Support Weightloss several years after ED? Jun 18 2009
14:30 (UTC)

I think you should just consider yourself an every day dieter. Don't think about the past ED. Just as your metabolism slows down a little when you're starved, it also speeds back up. You cannot destroy your metabolism unless you've damaged hormonal tissue - and I'm sure you've had blood work done, right?

If not, why not go to the doctor and ask for a routine check? Typically they will test TSH.

I read physical attraction and got weirded out.

I know it's SUPER embarrassing, but the best thing you can do is just straight up tell your mom that you can't control yourself, it's making you sick, and you can't have it in the house anymore. OR!! Ask her to place it in an area that where you can't find it.

For me, if it's in the house, I'll eat it. I no longer buy any of the foods I overeat.

Believe it or not, a lot of those psychiatrists know EXACTLY what you're going through - quite a few people with past EDs aspire to become nutritionists and psychiatrists. As long as you find one specializing in EDs, it is very likely to be a beneficial experience. :)

A good question may be... do you want to recover? Do you want these thoughts to stop?

Based off of your past posts and photo, I think you need to talk to your parents and seek psychological help before you harm yourself. It sounds like your headed towards an eating disorder - if you don't already have one.
