I hate it when the yummy, cheap summer fruit gets expensive and kind of sad looking this time of year! My saving grace is my apple addiction! Fall apples are crisp and delish. Just figure out which variety is grown closest to you and they will be the most economical for the longest. I crunch down a couple a day- in fact the girls I work with know if it is 3pm and I am not chowing down an apple then I will be Dr. Crabby by 4pm! HA! Also, they are sweet so I find it is helping me climb back on the wagon after slipping with the snack sized halloween candy. Also, the frozen berries make a great addition to oatmeal in the morning and just defrost them and let them get a little warm in the microwave after dinner- them plop on a sprinkle of kashi cereal and a blob of coolwhip light for a GREAT dessert! Best of luck! |

| Mmmmmm... I so hope the gingerbread rumor is true! My fave is the sugarfree cinnamon dolce (sp?) FF, no-whip, sprinkle some cinnamon on top... a cup o'heaven! | |||

Hey babypayne- I can offer 2 sides to this... I am a family doctor and also a former Yaz user (not looking for birthcontrol anymore or I would still be on it.) I do remember feeling bloated at first, and some women I have given scripts for it complain (!?!) that their boobs feel a bit bigger at first. Having said that, the weight gain is usually low and TEMPORARY, it is actually a great pill for keeping your weight more steady throughout the month. You won't get all bloaty before or during your period (once you have been on it for a cycle or two) and if you have any other PMS symptoms you can kiss them goodbye! :-) It is really my favorite pill to prescribe! For contraception, acne, PMS, or the extreme version of PMS known as PMDD. If you have problems, or feel like you stay bloated for some reason- the loestrin24 mentioned in the above reply is a great alternative. Here's to your soon to be clear skin! |

Yay for you! I have always been a "race to finish" kind of runner. That's why we are distance runners, not sprinters right? :-) Anyway, I think upping your mileage a bit over the next few weeks is a great idea! Remember, you can go a half mile up next week (3.5) and then up from there the next week, and you could just run your "long run" on one day out of the week, then run your 3 miles on your other days. This is like your own tiny version of how marathoners train. They don't go out and run long every day! Another tip to take from marathoner training is the fabulous thing known as the TAPER! Glorious in its simplicity- the week before your race don't go up in miles, go down. maybe just go for a comfy jog 3-4 days that week, and make sure to take the day before off to rest your legs and hydrate up! Can't wait to hear how it goes! |

| Hey Val, thanks for checking out the counts! I thought I was loosing my mind and mozzarella slices were a hideous-poison like substance! Instead they are what I thought they were... real cheese without all the real guilt! :) Yay cheese!! | |||

| A slice of mozzarella is pretty much the best I've found for "regular cheese" as it is pretty much always part skim anyway. The Laughing Cow wedges mentioned in the other cheese thread on this forum are pretty tasy for spreading. Or you could go with really sharp cheese (like chedder) because you could get away with less and have lots of flavor... what ever you prefer, ENJOY! | |||

| Hate to be the big dork here... but your BMI is a bit low even at 122. Not sure if 118 is a great idea, even if you plan to maintain it. | |||

| From one mouth breather to another... you are not missing anything! I agree with Runner's World, take your oxygen where you can get it! The only thing "better" about air through your nose is that it gets some extra hydration on the way in. BTW: a random fact is that you are either breathing through your nose or your mouth, never both (this fact is taking up space in my head that could probably be occupied by something useful!) But I too feel like I get tons more oxygen with my mouth open to breath. So go for it. | |||

I agree, "no clean like an angry clean" is hilarious! and so true! I feel the pain of holiday travel, my family is very far and I miss them like crazy... but to be honest, I hate trying to travel all over at the busiest time of the year! I say you visit those who live within easy access to you, ask some others to visit you, and promise to make the trip to see others in the new year (and then actually do it.) My family and I always have a more relaxing time when we travel before or after the rush!!! PS- don't forget to let me know what your doc says :) Hope today is MUCH better! |

| Mmmm... I love the sugar-free hot chocolate already mentioned... it is my after dinner treat if I need one. Also, I just got the almond breeze (to make the pumkin smoothies I read about here) and it is good hot with just a splenda packet. I love, love, love the french vanilla coffee mate... and while I think the fat free is OK, I use more of it to make up for the lack of creaminess! So, I treat myself to the full fat but sugar free kind. It is 15 calories per tablespoon instead of 25 like the others. Still a calorie investment (since I need a couple tablespoons!) but well worth it on a cold day. Keep warm! | |||

| I too suffer from the candy corn curse! I haven't brought it into my house this year... mostly because last year my husband told everyone I needed candy corn rehab after halloween season! He was right...I totally went through detox from its fabulous chewy yumminess!!! Maybe get the single serving packets, like people give out for halloween goodies, and give the rest to someone for safe keeping. Even as I am writing this I am drooling just thinking about how much I love it. Good luck my fellow corn lover! | |||

| Don't know about the whole system but I love the snack sized bags of carmel corn! 100cals and they have 8 grams of protein in each serving! DE-LISH! | |||

| Ahh... the evil shin splint! I too have suffered their wrath! If you want to keep even walking as part of your program (and since it is free and can be done anywhere, you probably do) then you should visit your friendly neighborhood running store and have the shoe guy help you out. Just by watching you walk or run a few steps he/she can show you which shoes will help prevent splints from walking and running. I also think the swimming is a great idea! Easy on your joints and GREAT for cardio... if I could just get my butt to the pool it would probably replace running as my workout of choice! From one adopted kid to another: don't let those genetics keep you down! | |||
