Hi ladies,

First I want to apologize for not writing in such a long time.  I know your all friends who care about me and I just want you to know how much I appreciate that.  I do not know when I might write again as I'm struggling right now.

My dad passed away last month.  I wont go into full details but suffice it to say it was all due 100% to medical neglect.  And I hope and pray no other family has to endure what he and us have had to endure because of a hospital and it's staff is so uncaring.

My mind can't function right now.  I am so depressed and I miss my dad so much.  I just want him back and that isn't possible.  I don't want to be a person who whines or complains.  I am strong and I will over come.  But I do not want to come here and try to put on a smiley face and pretend things are okay with me when they aren't.  I'm not sure when or if I will come back to the forum again.  Maybe sometime in the future.  But I just can't do it right now.

Popping to check in. .

Karen: thank you for your concern.  I've just been attempting to re group and find my starting point again.  My body is in such flux right now with peri menopause, hot flashes, unexpected water retention, drop dead exhaustion.  Plus super busy at work and building a shed on my spare time.  Has me mind in a whirlwind at times.  Did you get much rain from Danny? The weather here has been terrible as well.  Cold enough outside to require thermal underwear and a coat.  My poor garden is sure suffering for it too.  BTW Congrats on your weight loss!  And might I say, Girrlll You look Fantastic!!!

Congrats to everyone! Your all doing awesome.  Really inspires me to try harder.

Karen: how are things today?  Are you prepared for the storm?  Looks like it's headed straight your way.  I'll be thinking of you and anxiously waiting to know our okay after this storm passes.

Thanks for the breakfast ideas.  I normally have a 2 egg omelette but here lately they are really hurting my stomach.  Frown

I need breakfast ideas ladies-I'm not very imaginative and eggs are beginning to cause quite a bit of stomach upset.

Karen:  I too am going back to phase 1 too get things moving again. 

Any breakfast ideas for phase 1?

My weight is up this week-was on holidays for the past week and very relaxed eating. Oh well. Back on track today. So next week will be a better number.

Good Morning! Good Morning!

Day after daughter's 16th birthday with burgers, chips, cake and ice cream! Yikes.. . LOL But I was good.  Only 1/2 whole wheat bun with my burger and 1 very tiny sliver of cake with a teaspoon of ice cream. But it was Good! And I didn't feel like eating anything else the rest of the day.

Weigh in: 198.6  Yesterday on the doctor scale mid morning: 197.6 hmm think I like the doctor scale more and more LOL

chonphansa: it will take a little adjusting with your body-learning what it can handle after all our bodies react differently to different types of carbs.  I cannot eat mozza cheese without alot of water retention yet I can eat cheddar just fine. Go figure.

Denna: yum chinese buffet.  You'll be just fine.  One day does not a lifetime  make.

jsh: I think I can honestly say everyone of us here can so relate to your frustrations.  I have felt it for some time now.  And I forget how much I've already lost and how far I've come.  I want to be THERE today! And one day Today will be here.

Jayne: thinking of you as always.

Karen: how's the weather in lovely St. John's?  We've actually had a full week of sun and warm temps.  Nights tend to be a tad chilly but nothing a jacket wont fend off.

Today is my baby girls 16th birthday. Yike she wants a Big chocolate chip cookie instead of cake and she wants burgers on the grill. 

Doctor visit today to evaulate the breathing tests completed and to re-evaulate my medication.

Breakfast today: 1/2 cup frozen unsweetened fruit with a small cup of vanilla yogurt and 1 strip of turkey bacon.  Sure was yummy.

Lunch will be a salad with pork tender loin (left over from last night)

Supper: Burgers with 1/2 whole wheat bun

See what happens tomorrow.  After all life is about the journey not the stuggles.

But honestly Karen I'm not expecting too much **edit** tomorrow I meant to say Thursday...  If anything I'm expecting a gain; again.  I'm staying swollen and the scale is not being very kind. But Not giving up.  Some day's I really want to say the heck with it and eat what I wanna.  Why bother your not losing anything anyway.  But I know that is the wrong mind set and I have to rethink and strategize my battle all over again. 

chonophansa: Your a real sweetie I appreciate your kind words and lifting of our spirits.

So how are things with everyone?  We've not heard from some members in quite a while.  Must all be on holidays.

Jeri: our bodies are on the same wave length.  Mine hates to give an inch. LOL pun intended.

My daily menu:

Breakfast: 2 egg omlette with peppers (1 oz) mushrooms 1 and sprinkling of cheese. Coffee, 1 strip turkey bacon

Midmorning snack: NONE

Lunch: Salad (lettuce from our garden) tomatoes, sprinkling of cheese and olive based salad oil. Coffee

Midday snack: NONE

Dinner: Lean meat and 1/2 sweet potatoe (nuked) with margarine

Evening snack: NONE

So why am I not losing more?

Hey Julie,

Good to hear from you.  Where do you go camping too?  I love camping but we haven't gone since moving to Newfoundland.  Miss it lots.

Garden's are doing okay.  We've lost almost all our cabbage and brussel sprouts due to root maggots.  Irritating it is! But the green beans, potatoes, lettuce, corn, turnips and tomatoes are all doing awesome.

Haven't had much nice weather here either.  One day of sun followed by 4 days of cool temps and rain.

Good for you going to the gym and working with the weights that will off set the crisps and cake.

I'm changing up my diet a tad-getting tired of eggs every morning.  Yesterday and today we had a cup of fruit (no sugar) with yogurt and turkey bacon.  Pretty good too.  I didn't get hungry until close to supper time.  Which is a big plus.  Don't know how it will reflect on the scale-but all life is a gamble anyway.

Chonphansa: Way to go for you too! I don't know about the tv dinners as I avoid them due to the sodium content (I'm hyper sensitive to sodium).

Well Jayne: you've managed a loss again.  Your certainly in maintance. Don't want to go too low.

Hi everyone,

Popping in after a bad weekend.  Attended a shed party and ate chips and dip along with a couple of mixed drinks.  Nothing way over board; but noticing the carb bloat for the last two days. 

I've followed pretty much the same guidelines and Karen with adding carbs back into my daily food items.  I also keep a food journal and log everything so plus weigh daily.  I know everyone say's NOT to weigh every day.  But I find it beneficial. Helps me stay on track alot easier.  Plus if I notice my weight going up I can look at my log and see what I ate the day before.

Welcome Denna! Good to have another like minded individual on board.

Happy Friday Everyone! How is everyone? 

This thread has become soo quiet.  Is everyone hiding?

Betty: How the weather your way and how are your gardens? I know youv'e been in construction for a whie now.  Sounds like your house is really under going a make over.  It's  Been cold and wet here all week.  But the sun is out and looks like a good weekend.

Cheryl: Jayne: Good to hear from you.  Seems like you've been awfully busy these last few days.  I'm glad your enjoying the gym so much.  I know I would too if we had one in the area.  How's your grandson and daughter doing?  He must be getting awfully big now.  Is he walking already? 

My weight continues to go down.  I'm at an all time low of 196.  I can't believe I've finally gotten below 200!   I really enjoy the SB way living.

Well hope everyone makes the most out of their day and weekend.  We'll be outside working on our shed.  We also have Monday off work for the Civic Holiday.  So construction mode on that day as well.  We have the foundation level and floor joists in place.  Working on the floor this weekend then we'll start the trusses. LOL. Don't I sound professional.  Funny for someone who has NO idea how to make a box. LOL

Karen: Are the capelin landed?  They have been hauling here non stop since Saturday.  Wow, must be some capelin out there.  You should be seeing the whales and puff pigs around all the time now.  Wonder if the squid will be as plentiful.  Are you going out jigging for your cod? Do you like cod?  I love it! It's one tasty fish.

Yeah, I wont get overly concerned over the scale yet.  Not unless the numbers don't go down.   I'm in perimenopause and it has everything all fooled up with my hormones and such.

Wonder what Ms Jayne is doing these days?

Must be evil Monday.  Yesterday I weighed in at 197.3 today for no reason what so ever it was 200.4. Karen I double your  GRRRRRRRRRRRR

BTW the Capelin have landed.  They've been hauling their traps all weekend with the trucks running night and day.

We've been so busy at work and at home till I've had no chance to log in to update anything. 

Karen: No capelin this way that I'm aware of.  Our weather has NOT been nice.  We've not broken 12 all week.  Overcast, dreary and cold! The wind is cold enough you need a coat or heavy sweater just to work outside.  My poor gardens are showing the effects of the chilly wet weather.  Aside that.  What an awesome weigh in for you!  ***HIGH FIVES****

Hi: actually my partner and I are both building the shed.  It's going to be 18 x 24.  We are amatures.  We built a green house last year with surprising results.  (Alot easier than I imagined) so we want to try building a shed.  When it's finished I'll post some pictures.

I've heard of Almond Breeze but never seen it around here.   Going to look for in when I'm in Corner Brook.  But the problem with that is the distance in obtaining more.

Pam:  Yes, please share the recipe.  My family and I love meat loaf!

Sarah: I have not had red velvet cake since I was a child.  My mother use to make it for my brother's birthday-cause it's his favorite.  She used 7 minute frosting as well.  My darling mother passed away 3 years ago so thanks for bringing this lovely memory to mind today.  You've given me a bright spot and a happy thought.

I'm not much of a swimmer either.  And as cold as it's been here lately I wouldn't go for a dip even if it meant I'd lose 5 pounds instantly. . well now let me think on that one a bit more. . . .

Weekend was good-wet, cold but good.  We leveled the ground for our shed and got some of the lumber needed to begin our shed.  This week is construction mode in earnest.  This should be a great calorie burning project.  Healthy eating all weekend.  Bought chocolate chip cookies for the kids and wanted/want one soo badly.  But have not caved.  Looking forward to weigh in this week as I'm hoping for a really good number.
