The Lounge The Biggest Loser.... Sep 17 2008

Ah man, I didn't finish watching it and then I read these posts and found out who was voted off.  UGH.  That's what I get for reading before watching!  LOL.

The father and daughter team is really sweet.  The dad is so respectful to Jillian.  All he kept saying was "yes ma'am."  He's a sweet man and I hope he drops a lot of weight.  He's going to be even more handsome when he does.

Here's what I don't get.  I realize they are monitored by doctors and stuff but isn't it unhealthy for people with that much weight to lose to start exercising so fast like that?  I always thought it would be a big strain on the heart and dangerous for them to overexert themselves.  Can't they have a heart attack for pushing it too quickly rather than gradually moving into an exercise routine?

I just hope with all the yelling Jillian does that atleast she brushes her teeth and uses mints here and there because she sure gets right up to their faces.  LOL.....Smile

My sister got her Pug fixed a couple of years ago and he still acts like a typical male dog....he's always looking for one of her female dogs to mount.  I know he probably doesn't produce any liquid, but I always thought that if you get a dog fixed it takes away that urge.  He's even been stuck in the female dogs a couple of times too.  Weird and gross!!!! Sorry, I know this is a bit off the subject.....

I recently bought Adams 100% natural.  It has peanuts and salt in it.  I add a tad of Splenda to it to give it a little sweet flavor.  I know when I do that I defeat the purpose of it being natural but it sure tastes yummy!!

Sounds like you got your answer.  Wink  I use the same contacts and do the same thing; I wear them sometimes for over a month and have never had a problem.  I don't sleep in them and when I'm home I wear my glasses as much as possible to give my eyes a break.

I think you'll be fine!

Leileah,

The castor oil is going to make all the difference in the world.  Also, to help get rid of your blackheads, while you have to hot towel on your face, squeeze the areas where you have blackheads very gently with the towel....not hard though, just gently and that'll help them ease out a bit.

Keep us posted on how it works for you when you combine the two oils.

Nenewa,

I don't mean to sound negative or anything but don't you think that you are mixing an awful lot of oils considering you seem to have kind of sensitive skin (little tiny red bumps & being prone to cystic acne)?  Maybe you should try to simplify it a bit and just use castor oil and evoo.  I know you already have the stuff made and you're right, it is expensive....maybe just make a tiny, little batch of the one I mentioned and see how it works for a while.  Also, I think you only doing it once or twice a week is a good idea.  As for the dark bottle, I saw that on the video someone posted but I don't think the site said you had to do it.  I keep mine in a clear glass jar in my medicine cabinet, so it's pretty much out of the light all the time.

Congrats on your pregnancy.  I would definitely try the concoction on my tummy if I were you, can't hurt (you can always use the batch you already have made on your tummy and make a different one for your face).  Also, drink lots of water, I heard that helps with elasticity and stretch marks.

Last night my two teenage boys (one is 18 and the other is 13) asked me to do the oil cleanse on them (I did 20% castor oil and 80% evoo and used my facial steamer on them too).  After I was finished with their "facials" their skin looked so nice!  My 13 year old has major problems with blackheads on his nose and can never get them out, it was as if they were permanent.  My niece who is an estetician gave him a few months ago and even SHE couldn't get them out.  She told him that the only way he'd be able to get them out is by drinking massive (not deadly, just massive) amounts of water for a long time to soften his skin up (he never did try the water trick).  Well, last night while I was giving him his facial you wouldn't believe how many blackheads came out.  One was so big and fat it looked like a worm was coming up through his pores.  Sorry this is so graphic, but all three of us were amazed at how fast it worked and at how much gunk came out of their skin (both boys!).  Today when I saw them I noticed that both of their faces look so clean, clear and HANDSOME!  Smile  I'm glad that they didn't think they were too macho for getting a facial.  Ha, ha, ha......

I've never kept track but I'm addicted to the stuff.  I add it to my food all the time, even if I've cooked with it already, I add it to the food on my plate.  I often wonder what the scale would look like if I toned it down a bit.

Dove2424,

I live in Southern California so I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, and I have been using my regular moisturizer after I do the oil cleanse for about 2 days now.  So far it has been working ok.  Give it a try and I'm sure it should be fine.

Have fun with it and let us know how it goes.  I'm excited about it too.  I took a before picture and will post it with my after picture in a month or so.  I hope we'll be able to see a difference. Laughing

But what's the best course of action for dry skin? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, you have no idea. Thanks ladies!

When you tried the OCM method did you use a higher percentage of EVOO with a real small percentage of the castor oil?  How about Ponds moisturizer, have you tried that?  It really works for dry skin and has never broken me out.  My sister puts vaseline over her face before bed and doesn't have any pimples and always has really nice skin......I guess it's just a matter of experimenting, although it sounds like you've done a lot of that.

Isnt it sexual harassment if I was a guy? A girl cant do that harassment thing on other women? I have never heard of such thing.

I honestly think they THINK they're being nice.  But in reality, they are just really annoying and embarrasing.  Lately, since I have posted this, I just ignore them and Ive been trying to not go to that area of the company when I can.  I think they think I'm their friend and all that.  but since the weightloss the stares its just so gross.. if i wanted to be looked at like that, i'd wear a skimpy outfit and go to a club.

I know that to you it doesn't feel like sexual harassment because they are your friends and are doing it to be funny or nice, but my point is that in order for you to get their attention you need to say something that will shock them, and stop them from making the comments.  Continue to try to ignore them but if they keep it up I recommend you say something like what I recommended to give them a wakeup call.

I get really excited when people ask me if I've lost weight and have never taken offense to it.  I lost quite a bit of weight about 6 years ago and my sister-in-law saw me for the first time in a long time and couldn't belive "how good I looked."  I was so happy that all of my hard work paid off and that she noticed.

Hmmm, I feel kind of bad now.  When I see people who have lost weight I do ask the above questions (how much and how did you do it?).  To me, it's purely out of excitement for them and it's encouraging to me to know that it can be done, which is why I ask "how," that way maybe I can imlement any specific little trick that they might be doing that I haven't heard of.  And believe it or not, I have heard some new tricks from different people, besides eating right and exercising....things I've never heard of and would be willing to try.......

I guess from now on I'll be more sensitive to people's feelings.  So if I see people who look really nice should I not comment at all?  Just wondering......

I'm sure some of the other suggestions sound way more appealing right about now, huh?

Pahpi,

If the ladies at your work are bothering you that much with their "wowows" then you need to say something.  Even if it's going to cause a little awkwardness between you and them for a while, you still need to say something.  The next time you're walking by them and after they make their comments you can say something like "hey, didn't you ladies get the sexual harassment memo, you better be careful with those cat calls..." You need to say it seriously and don't laugh or giggle or smile while you say it.  Just walk away and do your thing.  They'll think about it for a while, talk amongst themselves and they'll either stop doing it or ask you if you were serious.  When they ask you if you were serious say "yes" and that them making those noises makes you uncomfortable.  Remember, even if things get a bit uncomfortable or awkward, and even if they think you're too sensitive, SO WHAT?  You have to do what you have to do if you want them to stop bothering you.

As for your friends, as long as you are losing weight in a healthy way and as long as your BMI is in check, there isn't much you can do about it.  It probably is jealousy.  I'm sure you do have SOME friends or family members who are encouraging you; those are the people you need to stick close to, the positive ones.

I just got done trying the castor oil/extra virgin olive oil cleanse (1/2 tspn co & 2 tspns evoo) and my skin looks so clean and smooth, I love it!  I used my facial steam machine along with it.  I know I'll be tempted to wash my face in the morning with my face soap but I will do what the link suggested and just wash it with water.

Jewelsmcblah--the site says not to do the cleanse every day.  You might have said this already but how often do you do it?  Also, on the days you don't do it, do you cleanse your face with anything else besides water?

Thanks!!

Isn't it funny that us women get so excited over new skin care discoveries??  When I first read this post I got soooo excited and am still excited!  Jewels, thank you so much for posting this and for including the links.  I wish I had time to read all the posts but I'm getting tired.  I'm going to definitely try this SOON.  I have spent so much money on skin-care products and I know that natural stuff has to be WAY better than all the other crap I've been putting on my face.

Has anyone posted anything here about how to help bags or wrinkles around the eyes?  Maybe I should read the rest of the posts before I ask....

Anyway, I'm excited and can't wait to try it!!!!  THANKS AGAIN, JEWELS!!!  Laughing

Bbfxvtub:  Try a sea salt cleanse.  Mix 1 tablespoon of sea salt with 1 quart of water and drink it as fast as you can.  If you can't stand the taste add some lemon.  Be sure you are home for at least 5 to 6 hours after you do this because you'll be using the restroom a lot.  For the rest of the day drink lots of water and eat healthy, light, fiber-filled foods.  You'll feel absolutely WONDERFUL afterwards.  If you look up the sea salt cleanse on the internet it will tell you to double the salt and water I mentioned above.  Since you don't weigh a whole lot, that is why I only gave you half of the "recipe."  It's what I used (I'm about 118 lbs) and it worked great for me.

I enjoyed reading your bio.  How did you lose the 20 lbs in 4 months and what are you doing now to tone your legs and butt?  If I take up running do you think I'll be able to tone my legs and butt or do you think I'll need more than that?

Have fun with your cleanse.  Laughing

Weight Loss Man I love those oreos! Jan 05 2008

I too am so glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has a problem with oreos.  Once I start I can't stop.  And what I don't get is that they never fill me up.  I can eat a whole row of them and keep going, even if I'm drinking something with them.  They never seem to expand in my stomach and fill it up.  LOL......  One thing that has helped me lately with stuff like that is I keep it in a baby-proof cabinet that locks automatically when you close it, so you need a magnet to re-open it.  So it kind of makes it inconvenient to get go the mangnet to open the cabinet (maybe I should try hiding the magnet or having a family member hide it....lol).

One thing I like when I crave chocolate that doesn't make me feel so guilty is fat-free/sugar-free hot chocolate.  It's only around 50 calories a cup.  I add a dash of Splenda and drink it while eating my 100 calorie popcorn pack and I have a 150 calorie snack that is VERY filling, and takes care of my salty & sweet craving at the same time.  I wish I had some now in this cold weather (it's stormy here in So. Cal).

I didn't see the show but I just looked at the pictures from the links posted in one of the above posts and I didn't really see a big difference in the before and after pictures in either of the girls.  I mean, there's a little difference in both of them (maybe a few lbs difference on each) but nothing that's SUPER, SUPER noticable.

Hi Rainforestgirl,

I have a big problem with water too.  I too drink plenty of liquids (coffee and diet soda) but not enough water.  I am going to try to get back to that starting today.  I love lemons so maybe I'll try that too.  Thank you so much for the support.

Well, I got on the scale this morning and was totally shocked.  I gained 1.5 lbs which is not bad at all.  I hope that will help me get back on track.

Thank you everyone, for your support.  It really has helped me.

I only gained about 1.5-2 lbs too! I can't believe it. I ate tons of food over Christmas. Maybe it's just not as much as I was eating before?? I see now that it could have been a lot worse.

Problem is, I'm having a very hard time getting back to eating right. From October to December 19th I was doing very well. I lost 10 lbs (since August, 17lbs). But now I can feel I don't have the drive to keep going like I did! NOW WHAT!?!?! I was so proud of myself for sticking to it. How do I get that spark back!?!?

Anyone else with this problem?

Yes, I'm having this same problem.  I've been off my healthy lifestyle for the past couple of weeks and I KNOW I've gained weight, although I haven't weighed myself in 2 weeks (I will in the morning and am not lookng forward to it).  Anyway, someone posted something earlier that helped me.  She said she's in the same situation and when she weighs herself on Tuesday she's going to consider whatever her weight is as a "new starting point."  I think that's a good way to look at it and that's how I'm going to look at it too.  As for getting that spark back, I'm really not sure how to do that either.  Maybe if I take a good look at myself naked in the mirror it'll help.  ??

Yeah diet sodas are pretty bad for you. They're filled with artificial sweeteners which are terrible for you. Aspartame is filled with neurotoxins and sucralose has methanol and arsenic. Regular soda provides absolutely no nutritional value, neither does diet. Diet soda may have 0 calories- but that doesn't make it good for you.

I noticed in your post after this one you recommended Crystal Light.  Does Crystal Light contain an artificial sweetener?  If it doesn't and is better for you than diet sodas (the yucky stuff you mentioned in the above post sounds pretty scary!), I think I'll try it.
