| The most motivational books I love are the three written by Dr. Oz, and Dr. Roizen called You the Owners Manual, You on a Diet, and You Staying Young. They are a guide to make our bodies healthier and younger. Excellent!! Try them! | |||
| Fitness | cellulite...anything I can do? | Nov 06 2007 20:22 (UTC) |

Libertina is right on the money! I am much older than most of you (48) and though I have a relatively healthy lifestyle, cellulite clung to the back of my legs like old tape on paper. I couldn't get it off. I ran, biked, swam......nothing. I wondered if the myth was true that I could really get rid of my cellulite through exercise. Or if this was a rumor spread by fit people who never even had any cellulite in the first place! Lucky for us.....not so fit..... it is true!! Even at 48!! But It comes with a vigorous weight training routine and a low fat (ldl-bad fat) diet. BUT IT IS TRUE.....YOU CAN DO IT!! I DID IT! And it was GOOD! MY LEGS WERE KILLER! Sadly, for me I am an all or nothing type of exerciser/healthy eater. Last year I fell off the wagon, stopped exercising and gained 30 pounds........guess what. Dangermousse is right. Those @*# little fat cells were lieing in wait and have now filled up again. Hello Cellulite. Time for me to get back in the gym. But just knowing that we can get rid of cellulite if we're willing to make the sacrifice, motivates me.

Thanks for the data. And I like your idea. I think I'll start paying more attention to how my weekend 2-3 glasses of wine are affecting me! One thought, I am amazed that you stayed within your calorie range on the days you drank. I can barely stay under my stupid 1300 recommended allotment. I have to be sure to work out on the weekend, because I want one or two glasses of wine and it adds calories so fast. 7oz of wine is 158 calories! Two of those and I'm barely eating any food if I stay under my suggested limit and don't work out. You know how our bodies metabolisum slows down when they don't get enough food. Do you think this is also a factor to your body stabilizing and not losing weight..... because you are eating less to accommodate the alcohol? &nb sp; What are your thoughts? Cat |

cbburks, Me again, just noticed that you said you RELY on frozen entrees.......I know you know the answer to that, sad as we all are about the inconvenience. Fresh is best. Try a cooking light cook book. They list all the nutritional values for you so you don't have to guess. And the food is good too! Good luck! Cat |

Hi, When they say "watch sodium" they mean don't consume more than 2400 mg a day of sodium. That adds up fast even if you don't add salt to your food. For example, I also use lean cuisine once in a while (love them even if I shouldn't). Just looked in the freezer.......one little lemon chicken box equals 570mg, one sesame chicken is 650mg of sodium. Sure they're low in calories and have no trans fat, but the salt is relatively high. Look at the side of the box that lists ingredients. They list them in order of quantity. So if it has salt, sugar, hydrogenated oil... in the first five ingredients, it should be thrown out. As far as the tea goes (I love tea too), I don't know of any that help salt intake particularly. However, I do know that parsley is a natural diuretic. This is an interesting tid bit. I read that people who frequently reach for salty foods tend to be more stressed. Maybe you should try (me too for that matter) a stress reducing activity. ...Meditation? Might be worth a try....I'm going to give it a go anyway. Finally, check out this link about the scale and stop beating yourself up! Good luck with your goals!! | Ever watch/read Dr. Oz? He says that the key to a healthy diet and lifestyle is being able to bounce back, and get back in the saddle after we blow it. In other words.............your going to blow it once in a while............just pick yourself up and keep going! Ours lives are managed. No one has it together all of the time. So get out there and kick some more butt!! NOW!!! | |||

"Major hair ball or respitory problem", I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. It can be very stressful when our "babies" get sick. And I know your hoping for something small, and it may be, but it's gone on for days now so you really should take your cat in to be checked. I know how it is, when my beloved dog was dieing from cancer I just didn't know where I was going to get the money to help him. Call around, some vets will work with you for payments and you won't have to come up with the entire balance at the appointment. Also, if you have an aspca, or humane society near by, they may have information about a clinic with reduced fees. Another alternative is to take out a small pet care loan through carecredit (I did this for my dog). They are strictly for animal care. They charge no interest and have extended payment plans. Ask your vet about it, they should be signed up with an organization that does this. Of course you love your Cat, I can tell your worried about him, but remember he is compeletly dependent on you to take care of him. Sometimes you just got to bite the bullet and do whatever it takes. You'll feel much better knowing what your dealing with. Below is a link to coughing cats. http://www.yourpethealthmatters.com/YourPetsH ealthTranscripts/YourPetsHealth074.htm |

Hi, just realized I forgot to say that you must drain the shredded cucumber of as much juice as possible for the recipe above. I shred the cucumber in a bowl, than squeeze the cucumber to one side of the bowl (use a little muscle) with the bowl tilted....the juice collects on the opposite side...toss it. Try to get as much juice out as possible or you'll end up with watery tarter sauce. Cat |

Hi, One of my families favorite ways to eat salmon is to put a mixture of dijon mustard, lemon juice. and dill on it (put on about 20min before and leave in fridge) than broil /not bake it for 6 min on each side. Serve it with a home made "tartar sauce" very healthy and tastes fantastic. I just made this last night so I'll try to remember.....2 cups plain fat free yogurt, 4 T. fat free mayo, 1 cup shredded seedless cucumber, zest from one lemon, 3 tsp. dill, 2 T. apple cider vinegar. Mix well........can make ahead, it lasts for several days. Everyone I've made this for loves it, in fact it's requested. It's healthy and so easy I've served it at dinner parties. I got the recipe a long time ago from a cooking light mag/cookbook...can't remember. I LOVE cooking light! ENJOY! Cat |

Your right morgiana, there are endless start overs. I'm in the process of one right now....and I'm not just talking weight. I was sorry to read about the recent deaths for your friends or relatives. That is a lot the bear. Surprised you didn't yank the whole box of cinnamon buns out of bosses hands. I see that you shaved your head for a cancer walk. I hope you or a family member are not suffering from cancer. My Mother had breast cancer but has recovered now....Thank God. It was very supportive of you to shave your head. Thats usually a tough thing for women. You must be a very kind, caring person. Sorry, didn't mean to get this thread off track or go on a rant...your post just hit a cord. |

Kimberlypaige, missed you gloom and doom post but I can imagine. Don't worry, we have all been there and have come out of it, just as you will. Don't beat yourself up. I think one of the worst things we all seem to do to ourselves is to beat ourselves up over ...you name it! Remember, you are already a good person, you are ALREADY GOOD ENOUGH! It might sound funny because we are all trying to lose weight (or maintain it). But I believe acceptance of ourselves is so important. Meaning that weight (or age) does not define us. Who you are as a person is much more important! P.S. 40 is a snap. Don't worry about it! |

Spirochete, I also read Caesar Milans book. And because I'm a crazy animal person I bought and read the books he noted in the back. Right now I'm reading 2-3 different books. I usually read more than one at a time and choose which one based on my mood. Currently reading... Eat, Pray, Love; Happiness Now; and Coming Back Alive (love those harrowing true life stories). Has anyone read Snow Flower, or Blindness? They are next on my list.

Congratulations!!! Must feel great! I personally would be mortified to see anyone I knew in highschool right now. In fact, my highschool just had its reunion...........couldn't afford to go....yeah that's it.....couldn't AFFORD to go. Anyway, I bet your right. Clothes really do make a difference. I was in the same boat as you at one time....hand me downs, baggie clothes. People didn't always realize just how thin I was. In fact one time, I remember I had to buy a formal cocktail dress for a big party. I went to an upscale dress shop wearing a sweat shirt and baggie jeans, and asked the sales clerk for help. I told her what style I liked but she didn't think I could pull it off so instead, she brought over dresses way too big for me. When she discovered exactly what I could wear (I used to model so I knew I could wear the style I wanted) she just about died and brought all the other clerks in the store to come check me out! That was the day I realized I needed to pay a little more attention to what I wore. &nbs p; You sound like you are exactly where you should be! Enjoy it! And again CONGRATULATIONS! |
