Chickpeas are amazing, and very good in Indian Cuisine. I'd suggest trying them in something.

I am the same where I was last week due to July 4th activities. Grillouts, cookouts, vacationing at a friends. It's hard to keep track. At least I didn't gain! I'm back on track, only eating oatmeal so far today for 160 calories. Let's hope this next week is more productive.

While I agree that PETA videos are pretty harsh to watch, their showing real footage, so I can't say that its' ridiculously biased. I mean, I agree that they have a specific point of view, but their showing what really happens in factory farming, so you can take the video seriously.

I'm not a peta member, but I am a vegetarian. I find peta to be too obsessed with their image and not with actually trying to help animal causes, but I don't mind their videos because its all real footage.

When I was in high school (about 3 years ago) i played that game SO MUCH. I was pretty amazing at it, and thinking back, it kept me in shape! It's such a good workout. Too bad I don't live near an arcade now. I have all the at-home equipment and games, but it isn't the same.

I used to have a lot of friends near me who were vegetarian, but they are all meat-eaters now. Only one friend of mine in a different state is a vegetarian like myself. :( We are few and far between it seems.

What kind of work do you do in the office? Also, it depends on what type of activity level you put yourself at. I would consider just a normal cubical office a  Sedentary activity, and would not add it.

I recently just started, but I've lost 4 pounds so far. I'm 5'5'' and 141 lbs right now. I would love to get to 135 by the end of July. I'm a student, and i've gained 10 pounds since summer started. I recently took the LSAT and I seemed to eat a bunch just to avoid studying! I'm trying to lose the "studying" weight as well as a few more pounds.

Good luck to everyone!

Weight Loss Slim Fast Jun 29 2008
19:27 (UTC)

I was tempted to try the Slim Fast routine, but I think just eating healthier and limiting your calories and actually eating FOOD instead of shakes is a better method. I also have tried their shakes and didn't enjoy the taste (or price!) much. I have been purchasing some of the lean cuisine and smart ones, etc meals to help me get one or two meals a day within a good calorie range, and that seems to help. They are relatively inexpensive too, with being about $3 a meal. Also, they taste excellent for being so low cal, which was something I was worried about.

Anyways, I say ditch the Slim Fast shakes and eat real food with low cals.

Vegetarian Question to all vegetarians Nov 05 2007

I have wanted to become a vegan for a while now - but I really can't sustain the lifestyle. I tried to make it a month before - and I only lasted 2 weeks before I lost too much weight quickly and became weak and sick. Anemia runs in my family - and I already run the risk of becoming anemic being a vegetarian, so being a vegan would make it worse. I have done reseach -  reading different books like Fast Food Nation, Animal Liberation, The Jungle, etc., so I'm fully aware how bad we are to animals and how I am contributing to the industries that treat animals badly.

However, eggs are NOT unborn chickens. A lot of the time they are not fertilized so its just like a chicken's "period" because they're just passing an egg. Not to excuse the industry that treats chickens horribly, but that's just clarification.

Whereas the milk industry - that's where I run into problems. I am aware that the milk industry supports the veal industry which I am very against. However, I need the iron and calcium that milk gives me. I have been slowly going towards soy milk, but I cannot stand that taste.

Anyways, I think there are very valid reasons why people stay vegetarian and don't continue on to become full fledged vegans. Mostly, I cannot sustain the lifestyle because

1) I can't afford all the special foods that I would have to buy.

2) I run a higher risk of becoming anemic.

3) Sadly, I don't have the willpower to. In my mind - if it doesn't kill the animal, its not as bad. I don't eat geletin and I'm a pretty strict vegetarian, but I do eat eggs, milk, etc. However, I buy from free-range farms. So, yeah.

4) I have and will never support the leather industry. I will not wear it, buy it as gifts, etc. It is dead carcass skin to me. Why would I want to wear it? However, I cannot eliminate all animal bi-products out of my current life. (college student, poor, etc).

I wish I could move on to veganism, but I won't.

Yeah I buy the '45 calorie a slice' bread and its much thinner and airier than other bread. However, I use it because I've always used bread more to hold in the fillings - rather than the actual bread.

Welcome Katie! I'm glad to hear that you're wanting a healthy life. That's basically why I joined. The weight loss is great, but I've realized I need to eat healthier.

I'm a junior in college too. I completely understand the weight gain that is associated with college life. Fried foods, cheap and easy treats everywhere on campus! It's horrible and so tempting!

Anyways, I hope we can talk sometime on here. If you ever want to get a weight loss buddy for just someone to chat to, feel free to message me.

I'm 5'5, around 140 pounds and I have a size D cup. I've been blessed.. although I'm really hoping to go down to a C cup.

In my experience, however little it is, you will lose weight in your boobs because its fat that your body will feed off of. However, I don't think you'll go down to an A, although that's pretty thin for your height (your goal - 130). I'm hoping to go down to 130 as well, and i think i'll still have a c cup cause that's what i had earlier. I'm guessing you may get to a B cup.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Sweets are delicious, darnet! I wish they weren't. We crave them cause they're so good! Everyone does.

Yesterday, I treated myself to a caramello which is my favorite candy bar to have. It takes a long time to eat (for me, anyways) and its 210 calories. Lots of yumminess. Yesterday after I ate it, however, I felt really sick and nauseous, so I don't think I'll be having one for a while.

Anyways, my point is, don't be so hard on yourself. We all crave sweet things. I usually just have a diet soda to curb my craving.

Weight Loss Fruits and Veggies dont count? Oct 27 2007
18:58 (UTC)
14
Well, as you have probably heard, 1000 calories is not enough for your body on a daily intake. "starvation mode" and such will occur. However, since you aren't counting in the fruits and veggies, you may be going around 1200, so i guess I would count them in your calorie intake, but don't do that and remain at only 1k a day. Keep it around 1200-1500 and you'll remain healthy. If not counting them has worked for you and you are losing weight at a healthy rate, then I don't see why you should include them.

I understand that we are all so obsessed with weighing as little as can a lot of the time, but I think toning your body is just as important as losing a pound.

If you really don't want to tone and just lose weight, then do cardio to raise metabolism. Although, toning is going to occur, but its good for you!
