I just get really excited about the Paleo diet.  The body is an amazing thing and it's interesting the role hormones play with regards to body composition.  Glad it's working out for you.

I'm curious about your Paleo progress.  I've been doing Paleo for 8 months now (super strict for the past 3 months) and I have never felt better.  I don't get sugar cravings anymore, my skin is a lot better and my energy lever has skyrocketed.

Weight Loss Question about lasting weight gain from binging Sep 25 2009

You'll be fine.  I overindulged on a weekend trip and I was up 15 pounds when I came back.  I drank lots of water, kept my calorie count the same, worked out as usual and I was fine 10 days later.  Don't stress too much about it.

I know it's easier said than done but you have to find out what triggers the binge and cut it out of your diet.  I cut out dairy, grains, and sugars from my "diet" and have never felt better and my sugar cravings have diminished significantly.  I've pretty much eliminated all processed food actually.  In my case, if I eat sugar, it will trigger a binge but only sugars in the form or processed or refined sugar.  My sugar intake only comes from natural sources like fruits.

Good luck.

I love crossfit! My favorite workout is Kelly.  Within 6 weeks I reduced a couple of my benchmark workouts by 2 minutes and that's with increased reps and weight.  When I first started (jan 5) I scaled down the workouts and now I'm trying to follow the reccomended reps.  Crossfit promotes a zone/paleo "diet" which I sort of follow and it's been great for my complexion and overall wellbeing.  Following the paleo/zone has helped me curb my carb cravings tremendously.

In addition to the calories, alcohol interferes with fat burning, something important for weight loss. Normally, the liver metabolizes fats, but when a person drinks, alcohol takes preference. The liver breaks down alcohol for energy first, causing a build-up of fatty acids. What this means is that the body uses the calories supplied from alcohol before it is able to expend the calories from fat. This characteristic is referred to as "fat sparing," meaning alcohol's presence spares the fat from being utilized for energy.

It's not all about your caloric intake, it's the type of foods too. Make sure each meal is well balanced, meaning you have protein, carbs and fat in every meal. Dont be afraid of adding fat to your diet. I add two teaspoons of oil to all my meals and I lose an avg of two pounds a week. I usually stick to a 25-30% fat, 30-40% protein and carb intake. Just try it for a week and see how it affects your body.

I drink TONS of water the day after a cheat day and I also go at it hard at the gym.  Also, in the early stages of my "diet" it took me a full week to recover from cheat days.  I've only allowed myself cheat days recently, when I started strenght training.  I'm also 100-200 calories below my maximum each day for 6 days so maybe my cheat day makes up for it?

I love my cheat days! I know the weight gain is only temporary so it's sooo worth it.  Plus at the end of the day you just want the day to end so you can go back to eating healthy again. As long I lose at least a pound a week, I'm sticking to cheat days as opposed to a cheat meal.

I always just overestimate. "different restaurants put in their curries and how the serving sizes vary" you can't control the ingredients but you can control the amount you consume.
