Edit: Ok, so I saw a picture on Google and I hope it tastes better than it looks.

I Googled it too. Um...interesting! So that's Canadian fast food, huh? We don't have anything like that in the states. I think the idea of cheese curds would scare many Americans.

Whether or not there is any 'wisdom' to 'eat when you're hungry' is debatable,

I don't think it's wisdom. It's never worked for me but people say it. Maybe one day I will eat only healthy foods and we'll see if "Eat when you're hungry" works then.

What did those 4,000 calories come from? If it's fruits, veggies, lean protein and fiber, it's not that bad. If you ate a few Big Macs and a gallon of ice cream then you may reevaluate your eating habits.

About the big macs...

I ate a cheeseburger, fries and shake yesterday, and a row of Oreos the day before (do you see where this is going? It's a daily thing) so yes, I'd say you can safely say I need to eat healthier.

That said, I am really hungry all the time. I do eat beans and whole grains etc. also...I know what I should be eating but yes, I have a cravings issue. I will talk to my doc next time I see him and let him know what's going on though. At 4000 cals a day I'm surprised I'm only slightly overweight.

Then again my baby is quite big for his age, very hungry and I suspect I make a bit too much milk on top of that since I can't ever seem to stop my boobs from being engorged.

After all is said and done I think eating less Oreos and milkshakes won't hurtTongue out

Thanks, ladies.

I am breastfeeding exclusively. I didn't expect to be so hungry either...I am way more hungry than when I was preg. It's crazy.

beckster3000,

Well I guess that's my point, I'm not happy with myself right now.

Good to see you made so much progress after the baby weight Smile That is encouraging to me. I know I just had a baby but I am frustrated.

I added approx. 300 calories/day to my intake after both pregnancies and still did not/have not lost weight while breastfeeding (granted, I haven't weighed myself in 3 weeks at this point). I just don't think my body is programmed to lose weight while breastfeeding which is okay by me.

Yeah, I might be the same...the scale hasn't moved in 3 weeks now, maybe 4. My body seems to be refusing to let go of these 25 pounds while I am nursing. We'll see what happens when I wean, this is my first time doing this.

Bier, yes. I went to Target with my babe today and got harassed by probably a good 12 people!

People are obsessed with his hair. Also, I think people (and by people I mean women, mostly) go crazy for newborns 'cause they're so little.

I know I am probably getting stressed to early, but I just want to feel good again and wondering how long it will take for me to fit into non-maternity pants. Frown

Thanks for the replies, ladies.

Bier, I have heard from more than one woman that breastfeeding seems to actually prevent weight loss. I guess it helps some women but maybe it really does cause some to store the fat. It's frustrating when you hear how easy it is for some but...it's good to hear about people with different experiences.

My body composition is totally different too! Never have I had a squishy mid-section like this..it's all soft and squishy with normal arms and legs.

Hmmm, well I guess that's better if you don't need to wait! I find it annoying to wait after meals when I'm thirsty. I have been doing that for a while because I've heard it a few times.

The Lounge Question for anyone who knows about cats Jul 08 2008

Yes, my husband and I are heartbroken wondering if he's still alive or what kind of difficulties he might be going through. We can only have 2 cats in our apartment and we have one so we're not adopting any other cats in hopes that he will come back some day. Our cat at home misses his roommate. One lady called us with a cat that was clearly not Herman and asked if we wanted that cat anyway, but we can't in our apartment. I feel bad for all the unwanted cats out there.

These stories are encouraging though : )

Thanks for the support, ladies. I got some prescription Phenegran from my doctor. It actually works pretty decent. Yes, I'll admit I am concerned about adverse effects on the baby but I have looked at several forums online and most women who took meds for nausea say their kids turned out healthy. Yes, it probably is better to take some medication to be able to eat than to have to sit in the hospital on an IV. Of course a first pregnancy probably brings out all a woman's worst fears.

I wish there was a way to delete posts like the "I kick them in the face" one. Thanks for taking this thread to kindergarten.

Anyway, I think it is okay to just not return their calls only if it was an aquaintance or very non-close friend. It's courteous and mature to give the person a reason if you had any kind of closeness. Also, some people simply do not get the hint and the only way to deal with it is to tell them how you feel and be clear. Otherwise they'll continue to call you and you'll continue to feel stressed until you change your phone number and email, then what if you run into them in public? I am not a fan of lying and saying "oh I had a stalker that's why I changed my info". Plus they'll still probably bug you to have lunch with them right then and ask you why you haven't called.

The Lounge Party Girls & Ex-Party Girls - post up: How imporant was the party time lifestyle to you? Mar 24 2008

If by party-girl you mean drug addict than that was me. For me, when I decided I was done with it, I had to move and change all my friends...I basically had to get a new identity (without the name change). Without those drastic measures, there's just no way I could have made it. There are consequences for behaving like that and there's no running away from them...you must face them and 'do your time' or pay your fines, or suffer through withdrawals, or get lonely and bored and depressed until things get better. Just ask yourself, if you had kids (maybe you do) how would you feel to have a parent just like you? That usually does it for me. People think life is about fun but that is simply not true.

A restraining order and learning karate do sound effective and respectful of her feelings...however I think I am going to opt for just telling her how I feel. I am doing it today in an email so I can rip off the band-aid and still be non-confrontational through email. She is not someone I can ignore...she'll simply never get the hint so I have to do this. Good suggestions cellulite d, I like the word "incompatible", it sounds mature.

Did I mention she is married and has kids? This is not someone who will get the hint we're talking about here. She's just a very persistant person. I can't just ignore her, that will probably make her persue me more. I feel bad but I have to find a way to say something in a mature, respectful yet FIRM way to let her know I am not interested in hanging out anymore. Any suggestions?

Foods Why doesn't my bread dough rise? Jan 25 2008

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Yes, I got the 'foam' on my yeast when I mixed it with water, I think the temperature and the whole-wheatiness of the bread (like medevitsa says) are the culprits. I will try heating up the oven and then turning it off, that sounds like a good idea...no my oven doesn't have the 'proof' setting on account of the fact that it was made in the 1960's. I can't set the dough by the heating vent either since my cats will eat it. I am going to check out the BRM whole wheat white too...the reason I am using the whole wheat is 'cause I like the high fiber content. Hmmm, interesting about the salt and yeast thing...yeah I added honey to the bread recipe. Here I go...let's hope this works.

I can't leave this thread without asking you to please not have the abortion. Honey, there are consequences to abortion, I know from personal experience. 9 years ago I had one when I was afraid and young and panicking. I was not prepared for the psychological and emotional trauma it caused. Feel free to message me if you want to talk about anything.

Weight Loss The cost of food... eat healthy cost a lot. It is really hard for me to purchase healthy food... any one else in this situation? Jan 23 2008
17:00 (UTC)

Regarding all this talk about farmer's markets I would like to say that here in Portland, Oregon where I live, the farmer's market is basically a place to buy more expensive produce and specialty items than what is available at the regular grocery store.

Also, I think there's no need for people to get all huffy when someone says healthy food is more expensive. Yes, we all know that buying a sack of beans from the bulk bin is cheap. But one organic apple is always more than a non organic apple. One loaf of Ezekiel bread is 4 times the cost of a loaf of generic white bread. Almond breeze costs more than cows milk. And let's just be realistic, not everyone has the time/ desire/ whatever to make their own homemade cereal, bread, or eat plain beans for every meal. Also there's the issue of satisfying hunger. It may be true that an apple costs less than a burger but just like many of the healthy alternatives that are suggested, they don't leave a person with that 'full' feeling.

I'm not trying to be contrary, these are just my thoughts. I would very much like for it to be cheaper to eat healthy but it doesn't seem all that realistic.

I almost believed what they were saying. I looked at the Colonix website and read the testimonials. At any rate I cannot believe how many people sent in pictures of the alien that came out of their asses after using the product and the website posted them proudly. Everyone that wrote into the website said they lost weight too because supposedly food was able to pass through the colon easier now that the alien was out of there.
