Weight Loss n Apr 16 2009

Hi caseykathryn--please don't get depressed. Yes summer is coming but it isn't here yet. Losing weight is very difficult but once get the hang of it, it is pretty easy. I had to learn not to want, to eat the taste of fat, and sugar. You can eat plenty of veggies sauteed in Olive Oil instead of butter that will cut down by about 5-8 lbs within 2-3 weeks. Also look for the inches instead of the scale weight. I hate the scale I can wear a pair of size 14 pants (I use to wear a size 20) but the scale says I am obese.....also do you like nuts of any kind??? Eat them it is incredible how many calories they have but you never gain the weight. Yesterday I ate 1400 calories in nuts and dates, got on the scale this morning and wala....I had lost weight. I eat plan lettuce (my favorites are arugula, bibb, and romaine), with a little olive oil and red wine vinegar. But honey you can add, chicken, some low fat cheese, other veggies you like, and a low fat dressing....eat the things you like to eat that are healthy, that is how I started.  If it takes a while to loose the weight don't give up you must keep trying so this year you won't make that bikini but who knows what next year will bring. I didn't loose a significant amount of weight until August of last year. My gastronologist made me strip naked and wholey cow, I had lost 20 lbs. So I say all this to say this.....don't give up, don't get depressed, keep trying, and of course try walking around for about 30 minutes 3-4 days a week and see what happens, I bet you drop some weight....oh yes and don't forget water, water, water, and more water.

I have been counting calories for over a year, and I must say it doesn't bother me, but it does bother others. There are days I blow it, but so what I just get back up on the counter and start again.....you can't let it get you down when you choose to eat, plus I just kick up my exercise routine on those days I  have binges......

Weight Loss Help needed...I"m beyond frustration with my weightloss. Mar 23 2009

Hi, I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but first thing is you have not eaten enough calories. Also, kick your exercise up to 90 minutes per work out day, and I promise you--there will be a difference. Also, muscle is heavier than fat. I walked for 2hrs yesterday before exercising I weighed in at 155, now I weigh in today at 160, but my pants are bigger, belt loop has gone down a notch. I realize the muscle is weighing more. When I first joined CC, I was told to stay of the scale, and use a tape measure, at first I lost inches then my inches turned into pounds.I say all this to say this......don't let the scale discourage you and learn to eat nuts, they will give you the extra calories you need. Do not make your deficit more than 500 calories more than 3 days a week, you will wake up one morning and the fat will have burned off during your sleep, that is usually the case with me. Do not, I repeat do not give up yet.....it takes a good 4-6 months to get a really big notciable weight loss.

If you want fast weight loss, I would suggest drinking lots and lots of water. But 40lbs is going to take a while, it took me a year to drop a simple 20lbs and that is with eating healthy and exercise 3-4 days a week for 90 minutes and 2hr work outs one day on the weekend.

Also if you would increase your workout time to 90 minutes 2 days a week and 90 minutes on the other 2 days you will see a weight loss. Only exercising 30-60 minutes will maintain and not loose. You must work out 90 minutes then you will see a difference. During the warm weather I work out for 90 minutes 4 days a week, then 2 hrs on Sunday. I lost 20 lbs when I did that. Even now during the winter if I work out for 90 minutes I burn off calories. Good Luck with your weight loss. Also gi-jane is right you are eating too few calories, you need to up your calorie intake. It is weird but if you would eat more you will loose the weight. I took my calorie intake up to 2100 and the fat burned off. I would wake up in the morning and feel less fat around my midrift. I believe my waist went down to 29 at one point.  It is hard to loose weight eating 1200 calories.  I had to learn to cook everything and stop eating out, and eating whole foods worked for me.

Fitness Logging the elliptical as running... is this okay? Feb 23 2009

When I used the ellyptical I didn't log it as running as it is a bit slower I would think less harsh on the knees but if that is what you would like to do I guess it is o.k. I would not because I would be afraid I would not loose what I thought I would. Running really burns a lot of calories in a shorter distance. What is your distance and what level are you at. I have seen people on the ellyptical that went so fast they should have been running.

Weight Loss why am i not losing weight? Feb 20 2009

I am going to say what everyone else has said you need to eat. You will not loose weight starving your body will feed on itself, then you go into starvation mode. Very, very, dangerous....you need to eat the prescribed # of calories, you will loose weight, try grains, vegetables, and water. Lot' of water it will fill you up. I eat a lot of nuts, seeds, and raw veggies to get up to my Eat Meter.

The Lounge Has anyone tried any of the weight loss advert links on the CC pages? Feb 20 2009
17:27 (UTC)

I have been here for over a year and I don't click on the ads. I do however go into links that are given by members. At first I never tried looking at the links then I had lost about 20 lbs and wanted to kick up my weight loss with an exercise program so I found other sites. But no advertisements. I would suggest you stick with eating healthy. Then try other things because this is a way of life not a diet.  There are wonderful benefits to eating healthy, more energy, good health, lots of stuff.  Good luck with your weight loss.

Weight Loss Upping Cals to Lose? Feb 13 2009

I lost 20lbs eating 2000 calories a day, in the beginning I would do 500-800 calorie deficit. It works-- I know, it sounds strange, but if you would at least put forth a little effort of exercise you will loose. I think in CC, it is more about a life style and less of just eating to loose weight. They give you suggestions and if you decide to take them they do help. i.e. I switched to eating brussels sprouts, and dried apricots....and I lost even more weight. I have tried the Atkins diet which worked, but guess what the minute I put a carb in my mouth I would gain. This way you learn to eat a bunch of healthy things with minimal exercise, you could log in your house work or walking to school/work. Isn't walking the most natural thing we do???? I would suggest you would at least give it all a try. Good Luck with your weight loss.

Weight Loss eat meter vs. burn meter question Feb 13 2009
17:48 (UTC)
1

I would not go over a 500-800 calorie deficit. When I first started CC, I would have a huge 1000 calorie deficit but then my body would go into stravation mode and I would eat and eat until I defeted my loss. So I learned to only have a deficit of 500 - 800 calories, about 2-3 days a week definitely not on the weekend as I exercised more. If you stick to your eat meter and exercise reasonably you will continue to loose weight. For me the exercise and eating right made all the difference. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so  I can hit the pavement. I don't like the gym atmosphere it is too crowded for me. Good luck I am sure you will be successful with your weight loss, and if you blow it, just drink lots of water, and continue to eat healthy.

Weight Loss eating 1600 cals and gaining??? Feb 04 2009

It is muscle. I went to the doctor and had lost 6 lbs but I have dropped down from a size 20 to a size 16 during the summer I get down to a 12/14. Don't weight yourself just measure your body and see what happens. I hate the scale it lies.....

Weight Loss When did you start to see results? Feb 04 2009
17:43 (UTC)

I saw a difference within the first week which gave me incentive to exercise...then I really saw a difference, at first it was just inches, then I started mearsuring my waist--back--hips--chest. I was shrinking, but don't get it twisted, I would mess up and eat. Then I got sick one weekend and that did it for me for about 5 months. But if you really work at it and do what is suggested I promise you there will be results, if you mess up just get back up and start all over again, and drink water, like you have never before. That helps a lot.

Since I don't consume a lot of sugar I will be giving up meat this year. After Easter you go back to eating the way you did before Lent, or you can continue on your Fast. In 2008 I continued on my fast until September 2008. Lost a huge amount of weight thru not eating meat, and exercise. So I am surely for that effact again.

Health & Support Calorie Count vs. Hungry/Not Hungry? Sep 24 2008
18:12 (UTC)
1

I use to eat 500 calories per day, in the beginning, I did loose but I was always hungry. I then ate 800 calories 2 days a week and ate 1800 calories the other days. When I started exercising, I found that I needed the whole 2100 calories to keep from getting hungry. I also noticed if I ate 2000 calories I would loose more weight. I really don't understand it but it worked for me....so eat as much as you can. Perhaps if you exercised a little you would become a little more hungry. Your body goes into starvation mode when you don't eat enough. Eventually it does catch up with you.

Girlfriend don't hate the player, hate the game. I would do something with a part of my body that she doesn't have, if she is skinny I can presume she is flat chested??? Well you have boobs, pump those bad boys up!!!!
