The Lounge Online versus ground college courses? Jan 14 2008

You have to take them through reputable universities, though - the University of Phoenix never did anybody any good. A good state university should be useful, though.

My mother goes to the University of Phoenix and is taking an online class and their online classes are actually a lot easier and more informative than the online class I witnessed my friend taking from CSU Bakersfield. It was a lot more organized and had a lot more activity.

The Lounge If your weight did not determine how attractive or unattractive others found you would you still be trying to lose weight? Jan 11 2008

I still would try and lose weight. I'm not losing it for vanity reasons, actually. I'm losing it because I want to be healthier and not run out of breath when walking up or down stairs.

I was actually thinking about posting a thread about this, but it's already done. I don't know why, but I can only go once a week. I'm trying to get my fiber up and work out regularly, but it still is only once a week. :(
The Lounge Job interviews and visible tattoos.. Jan 11 2008

Actually, I worked at Staples for quite a while and then I got my tattoos which are on my wrists. They're small stars on the inside of each wrist and are just the outlines so they aren't extremely colorful. However, they made me either wear bandaids (it looked like I tried killing myself) or thick wrist bands to cover them up. The same thing happened at PetSmart when I worked there for a few months. I got an interview for a computer technician job and they loved my tattoos. I just thought it was funny that the higher up in jobs and the pay scale I got, the less my tattoos were a problem.

Weight Loss What is the best time to weigh myself? Jan 10 2008

I always weigh myself first thing in the morning after going to the restroom. I hear it's more accurate then at night after you've eaten all day long.

You know what, I'm exactly the same. I find pants that fit perfectly in the waist, but they're way too long since I'm 5'1, and are extremely baggy everywhere other than my waist. It's horrible. The only pants that fit me everywhere are always tight in the waist. :(

I hate the..."you have such a pretty face"...

I don't know why, but I hate that to. They put emphasis on face like they mean that's the only good part on my body. Oh well, though. I'm sure they only mean good things by it.

I'm going through the exact same thing. I tried talking to my mom and dad about how I'm trying to lose weight and become more healthy. They listened for a little bit and then started back up with the junk foods. What's worse is that my mom got gastric bypass about 2 years ago, went from 300+lbs to 200lbs, and is now back to 250lbs because of the junk food.

The only thing I can recommend since you don't have your own income is to talk to your parents and see if they can start buying additional healthy foods along with their junk foods. It's really hard, I know personally, but you can do it! Just remember that you don't want that gross stuff in your body and you'll succeed. :)

Weight Loss Diet Pills Anyone? Jan 10 2008
16:49 (UTC)

The only diet pill I've ever tried was Alli. It was such a waste of money. I never got any of those gross side effects and it really didn't make me lose any more weight than I would have just cutting calories/fat intake by itself. The only thing I liked about the Alli program was the promotion of a low fat, low calorie diet. They say that you'll get those gross side effects if you go over a certain amount of fat (I believe it was 14 or 15 grams) per meal. Honestly, from my experience, diet pills are just a waste of money and you're better off just watching your calories and exercising more.

I love my eyes and my shoulders. I also love my lips. I love that I'm able to work full-time and go to school full-time to get my degree. I love that I have a boyfriend who is the most amazing guy ever! I love that I'm finally losing weight after so many years of being uncomfortable with myself. Oh, and this thread rocks!

I took Alli a while ago. I never had any side effects, but I didn't have any benefits either. I didn't see any significant weight loss other than what I lost from the calorie counting and working out. I don't recommend it because it's too expensive and a waste of money.
Weight Loss Rude people. Dec 07 2007

The meanest thing someone has done to be regarding my weight was back in February 2007. I met this guy through a friend and we talked daily. We never met in person though. He started telling me how much he liked me and how he hoped that I would be his first girlfriend. It was really cute.

We then decided to meet at the movies with our friends. I told him how nervous I was because I knew he'd think I was fat. He promised that he would never turn me down even if I was as big as I made it seem. We met and everything was great.

We were by my car at the end of the night and he almost kissed me when his friends drove up and told him that they were ready to leave. He smiled, laughed, and apologized for his friends. He told me he would call me when he get home.

That was the last time I talked to him. He would never reply to my texts, calls, or anything. He then sent a long message to me over MySpace telling me that I was a fat cow and the only people who would date someone like me would be desperate.

That's the meanest/most rude comment someone has ever made about me.

I understand the mother thing. My mom has a beautiful face, but she has had a poor self image since I was really young. I remember growing up around her and learning that only skinny people are pretty. I think that's part of the reason I have such low self esteem. I want to be able to lose weight and maybe inspire her to do the same.

Start with a california roll. It should just have crab, which is always cooked. (crab doesn't exactly have any substance to it raw, I think it's just kinda liquid). If you like the taste and texture of that, then you can move on. If you don't, you quit before you get into the heavy stuff.

My personal favorite roll is spicy tuny. Mmmm.

Good thing I'm going out to dinner shortly! I'm getting hungry!

Speaking of sushi, I just tried it for the first time on Monday. I had a smoked salmon roll and a cucumber roll. Great taste, disgusting texture, lol.

Well you said someone should never have to explain their beliefs. Well id think a murder should have to explain his, or someone like Hitler should have to, i dont think you should turn the blind eye and accept those beliefs, and if you agree then that opion of yours needs to be changed.

I stand by my opinion that everyone has a right to their own views. I do not think murder and vegetarianism are remotely similar and I do not believe murder is justifiable. What I do believe is that you're trying to come up with things to argue about and it is becoming extremely childish.

Why should I change anything I've said? I am not even a vegetarian. The reason I'm here is because you OP is coming off as very rude and you're putting people down because their beliefs. If someone wants to become vegetarian and eat Boca burgers, they should be able to do so without someone slamming their opinions and beliefs.
