Another good day with a 1,081 deficit. Working out helps so much with sticking to your goals. More to eat with less time to snack!

2/9:  757

2/10: 1,210. Yeah, today was awesome.

2/8: Deficit of 657. Wow, and I thought yesterday was going to be bad. It's amazing what avoiding the candy bars at the airport will do. Usually flight delays mean loads of calories for me.

Total for the month:  1,840/17,500

2/6: 679 deficit for a total of 1,683/17,500

2/7: Today we celebrated my brother's engagement with a huge party and lots of food (it was a pot luck, combining Chinese and German cultures). I had no clue what I was eating half the time so I counted today as a free-counting day. But I don't want to mess up the long term results, so I'll make it -500? I suppose that makes my running total...

1,183/17,500

I'll be busting my butt this next couple weeks at the gym, so I should be able to catch up. This is fun!

Wow! I love the idea! Wish I'd seen it sooner! Sign me up for the 17,500 challenge! I'm just now easing into working out and eating right, so 17,500 sounds good. I'd be happy with 5 lbs in Feb.

I guess I'll start today since I logged my cals today for the first time this month (and today was a good day :-))

Foods To eat more or not to eat more? Nov 26 2008

Thanks, y'all :-). I did end up having a snack and I felt fine about it. I just kept it to around 100-150 so that even if I did underestimate, I still had a good deficit!

Just one of those situations where it's no big deal if it happens once or twice, but I could see somthing like this happening all the time with me since I tend to guess on my cals :-D.

Is it too late to join? It seems like all the challenges are closed right now but this one seems like it might be still open. I started CC on Nov 17th so I could use that as my start weight. I really like challenges but I've had trouble finding any I can fit into or that are still open!

11/17: 197.8

11/21: 197.0

CW: 195.4

GW: 185 (I think the first few pounds were water weight and I'd like to push myself)

Weight Loss Does Anyone Else Experience This? Nov 28 2007
19:21 (UTC)

I don't have the lack of sight problem, but I do have the lack of tape measure problem and I think my solution might help. I got a flat, thin belt and just put tape on where the end met the other side and called that my "starting point." All I did was for chest, waist, and hips because I can easily tell which is which since my hips will always be the biggest and my waist will always be the smallest. I'm sure scotch tape vs. boxing tape vs painter's tape would give a nice tactile difference, though, if necessary.

Doing this, I can tell I've lost somewhere near an inch off my chest and about half an inch on the other two. I can't really get more precise than that anyway since I can never tell if I'm pulling the belt as much as I was the first time I measured.

Hope that helps!

And yes, my weight has done that too so far, but I think part of it is my personal eating habits since I tend to be more motivated at random times during the month.

Cheers,

Tracy

Just wanted to say hi to everyone! Best of luck making it through the holidays a smaller person!

I have to have my weight lost by early March so if I don't lose during the holidays, I'm afraid I can't lose much until after June! I have to be able to alter my wedding dress in time for a late May wedding ^_^.

Feel free to add me as a friend!

Hey genius! Thanks for setting all this up! I picked up a new, more accurate scale (which has me at the same weight right now, btw) just to make sure I could see the exact number throughout the holidays! Body fat and water percent (?) and everything (35% body fat...quite the eye opener ^_^).

Now, as a very competitive person, how exactly are we judging a winner? Percent weight loss?

And one last thing, are we doing a weekly weigh-in (I might have missed where this was discussed...)?

THANKS!!! CHALLENGES ROCK!

That was a great idea! I went ahead and added those two things you added to mine and uploaded a new version of the spreadsheet (v1.1).  I'm doing a 7-day average and used the equation I found here for calories burned: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ harris-benedict-equation/

BTW, if you ever mess up the formatting again, you can go to the example log, copy everything you'd like to fix, then go to Paste Special... and paste formatting only on top of what got messy. I usually use the paste formatting thing for big sheets like this ^_^.

Glad you liked it!

Thanks!

I made a few patterns and then copied the formatting down. I think there's some way to make it do the whole dark-light-dark-light but I don't know about two darks and five lights ^_^.

Weight Loss Tips on ignoring food cravings! Nov 05 2007

I'm a tea drinker, also. Usually I'm just looking for something to do since I grab a snack when I get home out of habit, so the act of making hot water, brewing the tea, adding my fake suger (and a touch of real sugar to fake myself out) and the cream makes it a snack that's no more than 50 cals (depending on how much sugar I put in) and lasts for nearly an hour since I'm a slow drinker. I do this at coffee shops too for studying.

And I love the grooming idea also! Nice! And my eyebrows really need plucked...

Weight Loss how much is 'binge'? Oct 30 2007
10:36 (UTC)

When I was in 5th grade I binged frequently. Ainedb's description sounds dead on and I agree 100%.

I went through a depression (luckily I have a good relationship with my family that helped me through it) and I would just eat and eat and eat. I'm not talking about having a second helping of dinner, but I mean sneaking a tub of cookie dough upstairs and eating until I felt sick. Brownies, whole packages of cookies, whole family sized bags of chips...I can't even remember all that I would find to consume. And yes, the thought of being "discovered" was horrifying. I'm still finding spoons and containers from years ago that I would hide to conceal the evidence. It's an awfully hard thing to break. I didn't have any idea what I was doing at the time, but looking back, that was binging.

So, no, I would say that eating 5 brownies because they tasted good and you just couldn't help taking another bite isn't a binge, but if you did it because the emotions inside you took over and you felt you just had to do something to get your mind off the world and the brownies just happened to be there, then it just might be. It really depends on why you do it, I guess.

Motivation Soup and Salad day and 1900 calories-what?!? Oct 19 2007

So I usually get Caesar salads at Chili's when I go there because I always imagine it being healthier than what I would otherwise eat. WHOAH! I looked it up and there are 1010 cals if you eat the whole thing (I never do but that's not the point ^_^). That Caesar dressing is LOADED, hah. Yay, CC for helping not down 1010 cals when I think I'm eating ~200.

It's still probably healthier than fries and a burger, but 1010 cals? I can think of many other things I'd rather eat for that much.

We went there tonight and I had half a turkey sandwich and a cup of soup. I guess it's all about portion sizes when you eat out. I was actually surprized at how fast I filled up. Drinking water or tea helps curb the appetite as well.

Weight Loss What size do you wear and how do you feel about it?? Oct 17 2007

I'm 5'7" and a size 14 (Old Navy jeans fit perfect). I think I look great for a 14, but I'd like to look like a "hot" size 8 or 10. Mostly because ever since puberty I've been a size 12 and 14/XL's are hard to shop for.

I was told "you never get back to your high school size" when I told someone I want to get down to at LEAST a 12 like I was in high school, so yeah, a 10 is now my goal :-P.

And I definitely think it matters your height and how you are proportioned. My friend is 6' and an apple-shaped size 10 but looks the same "thinness" as my 5'3" pear-shaped size 0 friend. It's just on how they wear it.

A while back discovery health had a thing wear you could visualize what your body looks like at different weights based on basic features like body shape, height, and skin tone, hair color, etc. Anyone know where it went, or something similar?

I am surprised how many 0-2's there are here. I always imagine everyone is the same height/build as me so it always seems so thin! Lol. I'm sure everyone is gorgeous. But I did expect to see more 6's than I do...

Weight Loss Losing my girls? Oct 17 2007

I heard push-ups can help make the chest area look firmer. I decided that mine look saggy due to the fat around the boobs (you know, close to the arm pits), so if I could just get rid of that fat faster than I get rid of the boobs, they may look relatively "normal." Haha, oh the science of it all ^_^. Too bad push-ups are so un-fun to do Tongue out!
