Check out Eat to Live - greens are approximately 50% protein. Granted you have to eat a large amount of them but that is also the point. Fill up on greens! |

| Vegetarian | Considering going vegan/ raw food- questions about getting enough calories! | Aug 13 2009 14:42 (UTC) |

Hi Mimi, To try and answer your question, higher calorie raw foods include: avocados, seeds, nuts, oils (flax, olive, coconut, etc.), sprouted legumes (chickpeas, lentils, etc.), agave nectar, dates, bananas... You might want to try eating raw until dinner for a week and see how that goes. While it might seem tough at first, I think you could easily meet your calorie goal on all raw or high raw foods without feeling uncomfortably full. Good luck! |

Kaystu - If you've just started aerobics/weight lifting, it is unlikely to be added muscle at this point (takes quite a while for a woman to actually gain weight in muscle). However, when I increase my exercise, I definitely see my weight creep up but I think it is due to water retention. You've worked your muscles and now they are repairing themselves... I notice when I stop working out for a week or so, I lose a couple of pounds and my pants actually fit a bit better. However, I know long-term it is definitely better to keep up with the exercise! |

Hi everyone! So, I'm still at 128... I was 127 Saturday and Sunday but, of course, popped back up to 128 today. I had some salty food last night so I'm going to chalk that extra pound up to water retention. How is everyone doing? It seems like people started discussing this but what are people doing for diet/exercise? I practice yoga about 4-5 times/week, trying to get that up to 5-6 and also add in either running or kick boxing. I used to run long distance but pulled my groin (ouch!) last spring and just have not gotten back into it. As for diet, I am a vegetarian and am trying to focus on whole foods - lots of fruit, veggies and legumes (however sometimes I overdose on the fruit at work). |

I would also love to join. I definitely need to get back on track. In January/February I lost about 8 lbs and have been able to keep it off but would definitely like to lose these last 8 lbs or so. I like Mondays as well - keeps me honest over the weekend! I agree that these last few pounds are tough to lose and sometimes it is even more difficult to keep up the motivation! Should we have our first weigh in on Monday, October 27th? SW: 128 |

So, what is everyone's plan for taking the weight off? What have people been doing? What has worked for you and what hasn't? I have been trying to eat as many fruits and vegetables as I can during the day. Instead of feeling like I am limiting myself ("dieting"), I feel like I am eating to get the most nutrients in my body. This has helped me fill up on the good stuff and stay away (to a certain extent...) from the other stuff. I'm also trying to get to yoga 5-6 days/week. |

Yes, I'm definitely in! I lost about 7 pounds and have been stuck here since March. It is time to get the rest off! Happy Friday weigh-in! Should we just edit our initial responses so it is easier to keep track? 7/10/08: 128 7/18/08: 126.5 (-1.5 yeah!!!!!) Hopefully I can keep this going! 7/25/08: 8/1/08: 8/8/08: 8/15/08: (Goal Weight: 120!) |

healthybmi - how I have stayed in the 12_s since February? I'm a bit surprised myself!!! I have been trying to cut out snacks - that is a big thing for me. I sit at a desk all day and I'm constantly hungry. People always say to eat 6 small meals so I would bring snacks to work for before lunch and before dinner. I was constantly hungry! It didn't make the rest of my meals any smaller (although I normally eat salad for lunch and usually for dinner as well). I think that has been my biggest change. I still have something once in a while but not on a regular basis. what about everyone else? how have you lost? what do you eat on a regular basis? i've been at 127.5 now for 2 days (i was up a few pounds because it has been 99 degrees in NY and it was that time of the month - what a horrible weekend!). i'm hoping to keep that number moving down! |

hey, i am totally with all of you. i'm 5 7 and hover between 127-129. my goal is to get down to about 120-122. it seems low but i'm small framed and carry all my weight on the lovely thigh area. what a treat! how is it going for everyone else? i was at 133-135 for years and i finally dropped into the 12_s and have stayed here since february. that has been a success in and of itself! however, it is like i'm stuck. i keep trying to lower the number but it does not budge. any suggestions out there? |

Hey there - I would love to be part of this group. I started "seriously" trying to lose when I reached 140, joined CC at 135 and currently hover between 126-128. I have been stuck here since the end of February and now want to make a commitment to lose the last 6-8 pounds. My commitment: 90% raw foods - only exceptions are coffee and an occassional glass of wine yoga 4-5 days/week run/weights 2 days/week rest 1 day water - 2 liters/day goal weight - 120 lbs (hopefully by July 1 = 1 lb/week) How is everyone else doing?

Okay, I definitely need to get back on the bandwagon. Does that happen to any of you? I was losing about 1 pound per week for about two months. Now, for that past two months I have been between 125-127. I have been content to not see the scale go up but I'm now ready to reach my goal of 120 and THEN I can be content to maintain. So, SMMCA - I'm ready for your next challenge! |

Hey smmca - I'm definitely up for another challenge. It keeps me motivated to have to report to others (and myself) on a weekly basis. Even if my numbers are not going down, I am motivated by the fact that I have kept the 7-8 pounds off for over 2 months. |

I have recently cut back my coffee intake to just one small or 1/2 of a small coffee in the morning and have found that I am less hungry throughout the day. For me, it seems to cause cravings for sweets and food in general. You might just cut back for a few days and see how it affects your own appetite. It sounds like it is a stimulate for some and an appetite suppressant for others! |

Hey everyone! I'm glad people are checking in. I had a deal closing at work all weekend and then ended up with the flu Sunday evening and Monday. Yuck. I'm still a bit sick to my stomach today... but beginning to feel better. I haven't been to the gym for a week though since I've been slammed at work. My goal is to make it to yoga tomorrow morning and perhaps to the gym for a short run this evening if I'm feeling up to it. How is everyone else doing? |

Hey there - how is everyone doing? I finally got back on the skinny bitch wagon this week. I stuck to raw foods in the entire week with the exception of my coffee and red wine. I figure if I can stick with this until going home on April 17th then I will definitely meet my goal! Happy Weekend... not so much, since I'm at work already :( |

I hear you but definitely just get right back at it! Whenever that happens to me, I just drink water and lots of it! It helps to get rid of the bloat and sodium from the extra food. How is everyone else doing? We can forget today's weigh in but I expect everyone to post on Thursday!!! :) |

My normals snacks include bananas, apples, and pears and sometimes I'll bring some raisins, dried cranberries and raw cashews from home. The dried fruits and nuts are the problem but I love them so much! Anyone else have healthy snack ideas? I've done okay on my no snacking today - just 1/2 banana around 3pm. |

Hey mharsch - good for you for working out and not letting it ruin the rest of your day. Don't let the 2 lbs bother you - as everyone says, it is likely from excess sodium. I started really trying to lose a few pounds in January and the weight was coming off about 1-1.5 lbs per week. However, I have not lost a pound since mid-February. I'm seriously stuck at 126-127.5 lbs. I try not to let it get me down because every morning when I put my clothes on to get ready for work, they are loose. I just won't let myself buy too many new clothes until I get rid of least last few pounds. We can do this! My big problem is I feel like I eat constantly - it is healthy food - fruits, etc. but I am going to try this next week to cut the snacks out so my body doesn't constantly feel like it needs to be fed. I'll let you know how it goes! |

Hi Smmca - I'm definitely in. I loved our last challenge. Also, April 19th is a great goal - I'm heading back home that day and haven't been there since November. I've since dropped about 8 pounds and would love to lose these last 5 before heading back! I'm currently vegan and trying to go completely raw vegan. So far so good except for about 1 meal/week. Coffee, however, now that's another story.... SW: 135 CW: 127 GW: 122 3/19/08: 127 - water weight....ttom 3/22/08: 127 3/26/08: 128 3/29/08: 126.5 4/2/08: 126.5 4/5/08: 126.5 4/9/06: 125.5!!! And I was 124.5 yesterday (but then ordered Thai food last night... love it but I can definitely feel the extra salt today)!!! Mini reward - manicure Goal by 4/19: 122 New Jeans! |

My recommendation would be to add more raw fruit and vegetables - perhaps as you reduce the crisps. In addition, I would just watch your sodium intake - I don't think it is that high but, based on solely my own personal experience, I feel much better when my sodium level is low (under 1,000). |

| Foods | inexpensive nuts? | Mar 13 2008 15:55 (UTC) |

| I would try your local coop or Whole Foods. They will have bulk nuts that are much cheaper than buying in a package and your run-of-the-mill grocery store likely will not have raw nuts. Look for raw/organic. Good luck with the new recipes! | |||

I think having a daily yoga practice is wonderful but I think you need to gradually build up to 7 days/week. Start off slow and check out different styles of yoga. After you've found one (or a couple) that suits you, you can either increase the number of days/week and/or increase the length of your practice. Yoga has been part of my life for the past three years. I recently took a hiatus for a few months and am now back to my daily practice. Just let your body tell you what it needs! Good luck! |

| Weight Loss | Looking for those around 130lbs. But want to lose about 10. | Feb 10 2008 17:13 (UTC) |

| This sounds great. I started at approximately 136-137 and am currently hovering at around 128-129. I would love to get rid of these last few pounds. I was losing about 1-2 pounds a week but now I've been at 128/129 for a couple of weeks. Need to get this jump started again in order to reach my goal (which is also April 1). Should we weigh in a couple of times a week? | |||

| Just remember that the taste of food is so temporary. The feeling of being able to walk away from that cookie will last SO MUCH longer. Remember, they'll be more cookies (I work in an office, I know :) and perhaps it will be on a day when you don't want to save calories to enjoy with your girlfriends this evening. | |||

| I would recommend going to www.corepoweryoga.com and checking out the yoga on demand section. You can try one week for free and it gives you access to approximately 50-100 different yoga classes. The classes range from beginner to very advanced and the name of the class also tells you what the focus of the class will be - such as hip openers, inversions, etc. Corepower teaches - as the name implies - power or vinyasa yoga. I've practiced at the studio for years and use the yoga on demand when I'm traveling! | |||
