Have you had your thyroid tested? I have a thyroid condition and without being on my medication it is so crazy impossible for me to lose weight. Just a thought. |

| The Lounge | i quit smoking once.. | Nov 07 2007 02:16 (UTC) |

| I quit 7 years ago. My biggest motivation was that smoking was so freaking hard to quit that there was no way in hell I wanted to have to do it more than once. I knew if I slipped and lit one up I would be a smoker again instantly. I really liked smoking but had promised myself I would quit by age 30. I work in a salon and have seen too many old ladies come in gagging and coughing with emphysema. Also, smoking makes you stink and it is rude to make other people inhale your poison, yuk. | |||

| Why mess around? Call your doctor and ask. I am anemic. I get as low as 2 and have to be tested monthly. It makes me dizzy and I used to pass out alot. I bet you'll be fine but don't ask a bunch of internet friends...lol...call the doctor. | |||

| V8 juice is great. Try the low sodium kind. Also if you aren't a big veggie eater try making some homemade veggie soups. My son boycotted veggies. He is 2 and he will eat them in soup. I make a big batch every week. Keeps well and really fills you up.Congrats on the weight loss. | |||
| Weight Loss | Why is it sooo hard???? | Oct 31 2007 16:52 (UTC) |

| That is really tough! Just a suggestion. Try putting fat free or sugar free candies on your own desk. I have done that before and a lot of my co workers were relieved to find a safe treat because many were also avoiding the bad snacks. My area became very popular. I work in a salon and clients are always bringing in doughnuts and stuff. Some times I do give in and eat one once in a while to get it out of my system. It is pretty hard to never give in. Sounds like you have a lot of will power. Hang in there! | |||
| Weight Loss | Weight loss is impossible (difficult) after childbirth? Try not to flame me ;) | Oct 31 2007 04:13 (UTC) |

| I think it is probably different for everyone. I know I was able to lose the pregnancy weight with my first child but it was work. Breast feeding burns off 300 calories a day but it also made me very hungry...lol. Lack of sleep really sucks. Might find comfort in food? You are really busy taking care of children but some of the activity might not burn off a lot of calories. Maybe for some people it is difficult to lose the excess weight because they never had a weight problem prior to pregnancy and having to lose weight is a all new ball game. Who knows. I think calling it an excuse is sort of rude. Having weight issues sucks regardless of why you have them. | |||

| I am not trying to lose weight. I am only allowed to gain 15 total during pregnancy. I have gained 9 all ready. I am only 5 months. When I saw that I had lost 2 was really excited. Then it came back. I am trying so hard to only gain the 15. It really sucks. I can't exercise at all. I am at high risk so I have to take it easy. Mainly I just freaked to see the 2 come back. It gave me some hope that once the baby is born I will be able to use this site and get all this blubber off for good. I am just so fed up with being over weight. Sort of panicking that I am never going to get back to a healthy weight. Just having a minor freak out, sorry. Thanks for the advice it helps out a lot just to have any one to chat with about this. My family just gets angry if I talk about it. It's really hard because then I bottle it up inside and it turns into depression. I look in the mirror and feel so bad about what I see and I know it is all my fault. | |||

| I am so for gay marriage. I just can't understand why anyone would have a problem with it. Gay people should have the same rights as straight people and it is sickening that they don't. God loves everyone in my opinion and if he doesn't love someone because they are gay then poo on him. What a horrible God that would be. | |||

| I think it is so sad also. If they are using the site to eat healthy and make sure they are getting enough calories then great but the posts seem to indicate the opposite. I don't want to be a part of the problem and support it either. Can moderators delete these posts? Maybe direct them to one specific area to post? I don't mean to be hurtful in any way but I just hate to see the site aid in the disease in any way. | |||

| A customer was getting his hair cut while I was working at the salon. I am a manicurist. I noticed he was looking at me a lot because I could see his reflection in the mirror he was in front of. He was really hot. I am super shy and was turning very red. He left and then came back to give me the cutest bunch of daises. He said he was sorry for staring but he was just blown away by how beautiful I am but didn't mean to embarrass me. It was really sweet. | |||

| Weight Loss | One Bad Day? | Oct 26 2007 22:13 (UTC) |

| Don't let one bad day ruin all the progress you've made. Just learn from the mistake. Sometimes I will eat something unhealthy and feel so bad about it. I try now not to sweat it so much. If I slip up at breakfast I eat a really extra healthy lunch to make up for it. You can even plan to let yourself eat a fattening meal once in awhile by saving up for it with your other meals. I think it is not a very real expectation that you'll never eat a donut again. If your so strict with your diet you might be feeling deprived so you have a whole day of blowing it. LOL, hope that made some sense. | |||

| I think that is a good weight loss. I think slower loss is better long term. You want to make a realistic lifestyle change. If you diet to the extreme and work out like mad chances are the weight will come back when you realize you can't do something you hate long term. You don't have much to lose so I think it will come off a lot slower than someone who has a lot to lose. Keep up the good work and it will keep comming off. You should be really proud of yourself. | |||

| Motivation | Is hunger really avoidable? | Oct 25 2007 20:27 (UTC) |

| I think it is good to feel psychical hunger. You know, like your stomach growling. I tend to over eat out of boredom. I have a hard time distinguishing head hunger from real hunger. If I think I am hungry but not sure which type of hunger it is it's probably head hunger. Then I do little things like eat a giant bowl of greens with fat free lo cal dressing or munching on raw carrots. I can't seem to completely eliminate the head hunger so I manage it best I can. Sounds like your being hungry hasn't affected your weight loss success at all. | |||

| I like milk but I can't drink it. I could use it as a weapon against my household of men/boys if they are farting me out. I am glad because it has so much sugar in it. I think it is good for little kids to drink it. Not so sure why all the ads for adults to drink it. Sounds like baloney. Interesting to think about. Maybe I should try soy. I never have had it. | |||

| There are some really great protein shakes out there. I had gastric bypass surgery in 1999 so I have drank a lot of them. The trick is to mix them with water and not milk. If you use milk you are really getting a lot of extra calories. They make a great protein addition to your diet. I wouldn't stop eating other forms of protein though. Just use the protein drinks as a snack or meal supplement for one meal a day. | |||
| The Lounge | i hate smokers | Oct 24 2007 18:40 (UTC) |

| I hear ya! I hate smelling cigarettes, gag. I am so lucky to live in California where people can't smoke inside. I have to admit I hate going on walks with my son in the stroller and having to pass by someone smoking outside even. As an x smoker myself I can guarantee you most smokers are not evil individuals that don't care about poisoning others or themselves. Cigarettes are pure evil. If you are a smoker you have no clue how bad it stinks or how bad that smoke makes you feel. They are so additive, it is insane that the tobacco industry is legally able to make them that way. My husband who has been clean and sober for over 12 years no said quitting smoking was 100 times worse than quitting drugs and alcohol. The worst part is most people get hooked on them as teenagers. teenagers think,"I won't get addicted." Then there you are hooked on the crappy things. Try making some friends with people that don't smoke. Hope you are feeling better soon. | |||

| I am so sorry your Mom hurt your feelings and I am glad you have made up. I noticed how thin you look in your pic so I looked at your profile. You have a post about seeing blood when you purge etc. That is so scary. My step sister is anorexic and so sorry if I am over analyzing, it hits home. Please get some help. I don't think her comment was so far fetched but made with love. She just didn't go about that the right way. If I am way off please forgive me. I don't mean to offend you. | |||

| The Lounge | Stripping out hair dye? | Oct 22 2007 19:00 (UTC) |

| I have worked in the beauty industry for 18 years. Certain colors like red and black are very hard to remove because of the pigmentation. I would stay away from any sort of kitchen beautician recipes. I have seen all kinds of color disasters enter the salon needing to be fixed. Don't ruin your beautiful hair. I don't think the baby shampoo suggestion will ruin your hair but I don't see it removing black hair dye either. I think she said she was removing red. No telling what kind of dye hers was. There are many kinds that aren't permanent. Trying to compare to another person is not very realistic. I know the worst most stripping shampoo out there is prell. Guessing is scary! Go get it done at a salon if you can. | |||

The binging sounds scary. Maybe you should see a counselor about that. I can totally relate to you about constantly wanting to eat. It really sucks. I hate it too. I don't know if this will help but what I do is slice myself a big hunk of lettuce with fat free dressing when I lose the battle of not eating when I know I am not really hungry. I am needing to lose 50 pounds. Currently I am pregnant so that has to be put on the back burner...lol. I would love to chat with you anytime you'd like. Nice to meet you. |

| Weight Loss | a question for anyone that has lost 100lb or more? | Oct 21 2007 06:31 (UTC) |

| I lost 160 pounds several years ago. And yes it left me looking like a deflated balloon. I exercised during and after but the honest truth is skin isn't like fat. You can't tone it. If you are young that is a big advantage. The younger you are the more elastic your skin is. I have saggy arm flags and a very odd tummy I call my elephant butt...lol. Now that I am having my last child in April I might consider a tummy tuck but really it isn't that bad. You can't tell with clothes on. Congrats on such a great weight loss. | |||

| Thanks for your sweet comment. I am trying really hard to have that attitude. It is so hard starting out a pregnancy 30 pounds over weight. Doc said I should gain 15 pounds total during the pregnancy. Well, I am 4 1/2 months and have gained 13 all ready. The 15 pound thing doesn't seem realistic but I am trying. | |||

| I think what you posted is so right on the money. I know I am always really down on myself. The only journal post I have made so far is horrible. I just needed to vent my feelings. I have this constant struggle with myself. Part of me just wants to love myself no matter what my weight is and just accept it. The other part just keeps on fighting. So for me the key is finding a compromise. I can try to keep losing weight to be healthy and still love myself. I have no illusion of being a hard body swim suit model some day. I will try to watch my posting so I don't irritate people with my self hate. | |||
