Good Morning Everyone, and Thank you for explaining the personal challenge Spacedreamer. Have you considered buying some type of work out dvd or tape, or exercise mat to help with the cardio?
I hope everyone is doing well on their diet, or life change. I myself woke up this morning feeling pretty negative about mine and I would like to share my feelings and ideas with everyone if that is okay.I have always been one of those people that most would say gives up too easily or is not one to follow thru. What I mean by this is I am great in the beginning when I start something new. I have all of this motivation, and then as time passes, and especially if I do not see any major improvement I simply move on to something different leaving another project left undone. With crafts, and other short term activities, I have learned how to deal with it. I just do everything that I have to do in one day and that way, I feel that sense of accomplishment and its not a lingering process.
However with weight loss, Its not that easy. I am concerned because I do not feel that motivation or excitement that I did in the beginning. I find myself feeling as if I am not getting anything accomplished, and due to that, I am doing less, and less.
So, I have came up with an idea. My personal challenge is to begin a daily to do list for each day of week which will include specific times for meals, exercise, and other daily activities so by the end of the day I will have that feeling of accomplishments, and I can look at my chart, and know that I accomplished all of my daily goals. I also feel that it will help me not get caught up in my work, and daily activities, and find myself not making the time to exercise, and eat properly.
Now I do not know if you would consider this a physical challenge but I have tae-bo. I done one 15 minute workout. After wards, I felt really positive, and motivated. Then the next day, I felt really sore, and kept putting off my next tae-bo work out. Then things occurred with my husband, and I ended up not doing it again. So, I would like to challenge myself to do 3 tae-bo work outs a week. They must be scheduled work outs, and they must consist of at least 15 minutes.
So, My question is Do these things consist of personal and physical challenges or Would they be more considered personal goals?
Sorry about the long post but I am really feeling negative about my current situation, and I like to write or type so I felt writing all of this down would help. I felt that perhaps some of you could relate.
Best Wishes, Gina |

Spacedreamer, I am sorry as well, and I agree with Shellbysmomma, If you are not getting back what you are putting into the relationship then a change needs to be made. I have always said, and felt strongly that A person can not do the same thing every day and expect a different result. If things are really meant to be with your boyfriend, He will begin to change, and give you what you need to feel secure with him. If not, Time will heal your broken heart, and make you more aware of what you will and will not accept from a relationship in the future. That will make you a stronger person, and partner. However, We are here if you need us. Best Wishes, Gina |

Oct. 25th 276.8 Nov 02th 277.0 I am not thrilled about my weight gain. I realize that its only a few ozs and I even know why I haven't lost any. I will admit that this past week that I have not been as active as I was in the week prior, and I even snacked a little through out the week. However, I am determined to get back on track and Today is a brand new Day! Best Wishes, Gina |

Hi Everyone, Nycgirl, Congrats on your weight loss, and engagement. I wish you a lot of success in November as well. EnterSandLady, My first name is Gina. I always wished my mom would have called me Regina though because I had a best friend with that name when I was younger. SpaceDreamer, I have sent you my water intake, and exercise time via your message. The challenge sounds really good. I definitely think I will try it. I am new at this so We do this every day for a week? I really need this motivation because when I first started my life style change I was very motivated but I have found myself being less active even though I am still eating properly. I feel this challenge will help me. Good Luck All! Best Wishes, Gina |

Thanks for the recipe. I am always looking to find ways to prepare a meal with low calories for me, and my family. Ladies, I want you to know that I tried the tae-bo instructional tape today, and it is definitely no joke. LoL. It is a 40 minute tape where he shows you the basics of stretching, and his routine. I am only able to do 10-15 minutes of it so far and I definitely feel every minute of it but I am so excited that I was able to start this. After my tae-bo, My husband said that we needed to stretch so I was able to do a few minutes of moderate exercise afterwards to simply stretch out after the work out. We did basic stretches, leg raises, and flutter kicks but then I did 6 sit ups unattended. I am so proud of myself, and even though I am extremely tired, and sore. I feel great. I just wanted to share it with you. Best Wishes, Gina |

Hi All. I want you to let you know that I am still active here on the forum. I have been reading different post, and learning more about the do's and don't of dieting, and life changes. I really appreciate reading all of your post, and your support. For those that do not like drinking water or use Crystal Light mix. I have found at Walmart a 10 pack powder of Morning SPARK which is less than $2 and it comes in different flavors. You just add it to your water, and it only adds 5 calories. It truly does make the water taste better. As for how I'm doing, I have been doing really good with my eating, and exercising routine. I have had a few days where my stomach has been cramping but I believe it is due to being on my period this week. I should be off tomorrow and I'll be able to say definitely if it's that or something else. I didn't realize on Monday when I did my weight in how a woman's cycle can alter her weight but since I had lost weight at that point, I did decide to get on the scale again today because today makes 7 full days of being on my diet. All together, I have lost 3.2 pounds so far making my weight now 276.8 pounds. My short term goal is to be under 250 by Jan 3rd, and I would like to be able to do at least 10 sits up without the aid of my husband before Thanksgiving. So, If anyone is trying to loose 25-30 pounds short term or if anyone knows of any challenges for doing sits up, Please contact me. Best Wishes, Gina |

Hello, My name is Gina. I found this site last Thursday when I decided that it was time to focus on my weight problem. I have already lost 2 pounds in 6 days by watching what I eat, and by staying active. My first bit of advice is to search thru the site and use all the information available to you. It will help. For exz. You can use the tools at the top of the page which will help you determine your calorie intake, burner meter, and what is a good daily goal calorie intake for yourself based on your height, weight, and goal. Also, You can use the log found under "my account" to determine your daily exercise, and food intake. You can also learn how much calories are in each food which will help you in choosing healthy food if you are like me which is starting off and not really sure what is the right and wrong thing to eat. I, myself, have set my calorie intake to 1800 a day because I am 5"10 and need to loose 110 pounds. I try to exercise every day regardless if its doing calisthenics or simply walking on the treadmil. Remember that you are exercising even when you are simply cleaning up your home, or doing a normal daily activity. As for friends and motivation, I suggest finding a forum that is open, and active. You will find a lot of motivation simply by reading their stories, and getting replies back from your own post. Also, Feel free to add me as you like. Best Wishes, Gina

Today was a hard day because I was scheduled for my orientation at the local college. The kids bus was running late so I ended up missing my orientation. I had been waiting on this appointment for three weeks so I was really bummed to say the least. I decided to go get my glasses fitted, and run a few errands that was neeed even though I really just wanted to go home and go to sleep. I even took the stairs instead of the elevator because I knew I had missed my morning exercise routine. Then My husband wanted to have lunch. Of course, He wanted the fish fry place down the road. I wasn't sure what was high and low in calories. I ended up eating a large french fries, 4 hush puppies, and about 4 oz of shrimp with 16 oz of sweet tea. At that time, I thought it wasn't so bad. Then I just added my daily calories up and am already at 1,592. Remind you that I am trying to stay under 1800 calories. So, Now I have to determine what I am about to eat for dinner knowing I am only 208 calories away from 1800. Best Wishes, Gina |

Hello Everyone. I hope everyone is having a fantastic Monday. I want to say Thanks to all of you for your warm welcome. Thank you Moogie for your post. I will be looking into a challenge for me because I feel that I tend to stay more motivated when there is a challenge or goal in mind. Yesterday was a bad day for me. I wasn't feeling very well after my exercise due to a lot of stomach problems and unfortunately, I used it as an excuse to snack on way too much caramel popcorn as I lounged around on the couch. I did weigh myself and have lost 2.6 pounds. However, I am not sure that I didn't pack it back on during my relaxing day with caramel popcorn yesterday so I got up this morning determined to have a better today. By 10am, I have had breakfast, done 8 sits up, walked 10 minutes on the treadmill, and did 15 minutes of calisthenics. I posted an entry in my journal. I also have had 33 oz of water so far. Best Wishes, Gina |

| Thank you all for welcoming me. Congrats on all of your weight loss, and goal accomplishments. It has truly helped motivate me even more. I have been reading information from the forum trying to get ideas that will better help me as I am trying to become a healthier, happier me. I chose the username DestinyBound08 because I feel that I let myself go for way too long, and I am now destined to be a healthier, happy me in 2008. So, You can call me DestinyBound08 or Gina, whichever it is easier for you to remember me by. This is my 3rd official day on my diet. Yesterday was a hard day for me because I was sore, and really looking at the numbers that I needed to loose. However, I managed to get a hour of walking in, and tried to eat sensible meals and snacks all day. Today, I had for breakfast, 1 egg, 1 cup of cereal (no milk) and a glass of grapefruit juice for breakfast, and have done a 25 minute callisthenic work out. I did half before breakfast, and half afterwards because I still haven't realized if I should eat first and then exercise or exercise and then eat.My hardest task right now is doing sit ups, and push ups. I can't do a regular push up like we did in school. I am only able to do 4-5 regular sit ups. So, Any ideas would be great? I also would like to askHow often should I weigh myself? Best WishesGina |
