| Congratulations!! I quit drinking recently as well and what boggles my mind is why I'm not losing weight. I exercise every day now and I can finally jog a mile. Something that I have neeeeever been able to do. I probably consumed about an extra 1000+ calories a night, 4 times a week on average from heavy drinking and that does not include coming home and pigging out. Now that I've completely stopped, you'd think that the weight would come off easy, but it doesnt. I need some tips. Also recently have gone vegetarian and it seems that with all this exercising and lack of meat in my diet I have become ravenous and all I want to do is eat at night. During the day my appetite is fine but then when it comes night, I turn into this savage werewolf and need food, cookies, anything. What's going on here. |

| Here are some of my favorite recipes: Breakfast: Oatmeal Batter for pancakes, waffles or crepes 2 cups dry oats, 1/4 to 1/2 cup raisens (depends on how sweet you want them), 1/3 cup almonds or walnuts or both, then about 2 cups soymilk (or milk) and about a 1 1/2 cups water mix it in your blender and you've got yourself a batter. If you decide to make pancakes i recommend making them somewhat thin, they taste better that way =]. I usually eyeball everything so you might want to adjust your measurements. I usually can get about 10 pancakes from this. Keep in mind since your using oats, the oats will soak up some of the liquid so you can add more water or soy as you go. I prefer to serve the waffles or pancakes with fresh fruit and jam instead of dosing it with syrup. Its a very hearty breakfast and tastes great even when leftover and cold (I had some last night =] ). Snack: fruit, rice cakes, veggies with dip, handful of trail mix, or baked sweet potato chips/veggie chips Lunch or dinner: Pesto Burger! mmmm sooo good1 boca burger, 1 bun, 1 tsp pesto, a few slices of tomato What I do is I heat up the burger and the way I do that is I simply throw it right into the toaster lol. I leave it in there for a while bc I like it a little crunchy. They I get a bun, but my favorite is some French Bread (it really makes the difference) and I toast that sucker. Then just throw on the tomato, smear the pesto and you've got yourself a deeeelish sandwich. On the side you could have a spnich salad or even as the main course. When I prepare spinache salad I always incorporate fruit (apples, pears and mango always taste great together). I simply take a bag of baby spinache, toss in fruit, and some cheese ( I like blue). Then I mix it together and let it get a little soggy from the fruit juices and it's awesome. Other great veggie alternatives for dinner could be be sauteed veggies on rice noodles (asain style), or a eggplant parm, a grilled garden salad (zuchini, asparagus, onion, etc). For desert fresh fruit is always a good pick. Hope this helps! Take care! |
