Fitness Beginner- need advice for walking/jogging Aug 29 2008

Wow, you guys are amazing!

I got my butt up out of bed early this morning and worked out. I used the cardio bands. Felt like my arms were made of rubber. But I had more energy all morning at work.  I will do my walk/run after work tonight. (Have to get my workout done after work, my boyfriend is taking me out on a date tonight!!)

My office assist and myself are going to join the Rec Center on Tuesday. They offer a trainer at a discount if you have more than one person. We called today and set up our appointment!! I can't wait to go.

I don't want to give up this time. Each time I've tried a work out program I expected results over night. This time, I am setting more long term goals. My first goal is six weeks from now I will have been working out 11 weeks. On my 12 week I want to be able to jog a mile. By Christmas I want to be buying jeans two sizes smaller than I have now. Next summer vacation I want to be in a two piece swim suit.

Long term goals that can be met, I just can't give up AGAIN!

I pat myself on the back right now, I've never made it to 5 weeks before.

You guys have given me so much information and help. I can't wait to share and hear all of our mile stones with each other!!

Everyone have a great three day weekend, eat healthy, workout, and enjoy!

I have a few aerobic tapes. Some of them work with the bands. Should I alter one day walking the next day aerobic workout? I have looked into some bikes at Wal-Mart. It's so heartbreaking when I've been working very hard at this.

When I was younger I never had a weight problem. Through a bad marriage, etc, the pounds just kept coming on. I've tried the workout bit before, but after a week or two I gave up. This time it's been 5 weeks!! I have only missed 3 days of walking. My son is 12, he and I have been going out each night. He rides his bike while I walk. Between him and my boyfriend they are very encouraging for me to not give up.

I am going to be a grandma in January for the first time. And I don't want my grandchild to refer to me as the fat granny. I want to be healthy and fit.

I have enjoyed reading everyones advice.

I hope someone can give me some help.

Here's where I'm at right now:

5'2"/175lbs/43yrs YOUNG/work two jobs/single mom-in a great realtionship.

I have been walking for 5 weeks yesterday. The first night I went and walked all I could do was a mile. Thought I was going to fall over dead by the time I got home. I am now walking between 2-4 miles per night. I am also jogging about 6 blocks.

I invested in the Nike-ipod, wonderful thing to have. I have been watching my calories and fat intake. I've started eating 4-5 small meals a day. I have even been getting up early to fix myself a healthy breakfast. I don't drink pop. I have my coffee in the morning then drink my 6-8 glasses of water each day.

I gained 3 lbs within the first two weeks of walking. I have finally been able to get those 3lbs off BUT NOTHING ELSE IS COMING OFF!!

When is the best time to weigh? What else can I do to make the scales move downward? I don't want to be 110lbs, my goal is 130-135. How in the world can I get there?? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any and all help!

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

I have started the SI6 program. I'm only four days into it. So far it seems to be a good fit for me. I feel my muscles a little more each day, but not to the point they hurt.

I have read some input that some of you have posted. I just want to work my way back into looking and feeling good. I want to be able to look at myself in the mirror and not be shocked in horror.

Does anyone have any extra advice, tips or etc on what helped them?

Thanks!!
