Im in! I wouild love to shed some pounds by November...I might be visitng Mexico and would to not have to wear a cover up 24/7!! I dont think I have 30lbs to lose...well maybe I do, but Im setting my goal a bit higher and then Im gonna see how I feel "in my skin" when I get there! I freeze a lot b/c I only cook for myself! I find that most grains/pastas taste okay when they have been properly frozen. I freeze whole wheat pasta, brown or white rice, and couscous in individual serving size baggies. I fill the baggie with COOLED item, squeeze out all the air, then lie flat and seal (so you can stack them). This way I always have a healthy grain on hand for meals. I also buy the tender style chicken at my local Sams. It super cheap and they cook really really quicky..even from frozen solid! AND...the best one yet...I make individual sized lasagnas! I make everything I need for lasagna....super healthy with lean turkey, LF cheeses, and WW pasta...and then I put the stuff in the throw away MINI loaf tins. I usually make around 8-10 and then freeze them with some foil on top. I can stack them in the freezer so they dont take a lot of room!! I will usually put one in the fridge in the morning and let it thaw and then cook it that night or the next. Its so easy and is normally two servings for me (with a fresh salad on the side!!)! I always hated making so much lasagna and thinking that I needed to eat it all! And my sister and I trade off making them....if I make then I share with her and vice versa! I hope this helps! |

I try to drink lots of water before and after to purge all extra sodium out of my sytem..and it will helps me eat less!! I always try to get brocolli chicken. Or any chicken (not breaded or fried), with veggies in a lighter (colored) sauce. Shrimp with the same veggies and light sauce would work too!! I eat only half or none of my rice and try to order brown rice (then i eat it all!!) if they have it. Also, hot & sour soup is low in fat and calories!!! Mainly I try stay away from fried, breaded, and thse noodles are loaded with sodium and grease!!! Also, one chicken egg roll has between 120-170 calories...just an FYI in case you have room to splurge! |

I had my BMR tested at my local Hy-Vee (chain grocery store). You might be able to find a store in your area that has a registered dietician on staff. Their dietician was able to test me, only took 20 mins, and it was only $45! Hope this helps!!

christianrock.chick: I have another healthful use for that pumpkin...homemade dog biscuits! Pumpkin is very very good for dogs and is homeopathic way to keep them "regular" and free of anal gland problems. Ive been making these treats for my dog and she loves them..and they are super cheap & easy!! ( I read your journal and see that you are pet lover too!) 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 2 eggs 1/2 cup canned pumpkin 2 tablespoons peanut butter 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Whisk together the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add water as needed to help make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff. Roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick roll. Cut into 1/2-inch pieces. Bake in preheated oven until hard, about 40 minutes.

I would like to join the group..hope its not too late!! Im 5'2" and currently 144.5lbs (down from 154.5lbs on March 2)...goal is 124-128! I got down to 126 two years ago..and I thought that I was looking "thin" for my body type (big boobs/butt!) Just curious....any chance that I can post my weight on Thursday night/Friday mornings? Ive been doing a challenge with a friend and we weigh in on Thursday nights!!! I like being held "accountable" with a weekly weigh in...it kind of "guilts" or "embarasses" me into sticking to my dieting/exercising!!! |

I struggle to grocery shop on a tight budget...but I manage. Im only cooking for one...so that makes it even tougher!! Things that are cheap and work well for me are: whole wheat couscous, quinoa, wild rice, brown rice, lentils (all bought in bulk at Whole Foods so you dont pay for packaging!), a bulk package lettuce & a 3lb bag of chicken tenders (bought at Sam's Club & tenders b/c they cook really quickly), canned black & kidney beans, green & jalepeno peppers, green-red-white onions (cheap!!), whole wheat pasta ( I stock up when its on sale at Wal-mart & I make extra portions to freeze for a quick meal later!), whole wheat tortillas, and LOTS OF SPICES!! Spices are relatively cheap and add no calories (or sodium if they are salt free) to your meals!! Eating healthy can be relatively cheap...you just have to be willing to put a little effort into it! I love the challenge!!! |

How about a banana cream pie..minus the fresh cut bananas of course! You can easily lighten that up by using skim milk for the banana pudding and light or ff whipped topping. We sometimes mix it up by using one of those chocolate pie shells and then adding shaved chocolate up on top!!! Yummy! |

| Maintaining | Invitation to dine (Just before vacation next week) should I go? | Apr 23 2008 21:03 (UTC) |

Im sure your friend would be fine if you asked for a rain check. Simply explain to her that the timing is bad with your vacation coming up and that when you return you would love to take her up on her offer! Also, as far as vacation goes! Try to have lots of fruits and veggies, drink tons of water, and have your heaviest meals at lunch time. At least then you will have a some extra time to burn it off instead of taking the extra calories to bed with you after having a big dinner!! Have fun on your vaca and dont obsesss if you gain a pound or two!!! |

janujen: WOW! Four pounds already! I cant wait to see how you are doing after a week or two with your increased fiber intake!! UGH!! I get so frustrated when I see on "My Account" page I wont be at my goal weight until late August!! Thats seems like an eternity from now! Oh well...slowly and surely keeps the weight off, right?? Im going to start to a weight lifting class that is 3x a week! Hopefully, I will see some quicker results with a more structed lifting routine!! I didnt have a chance to be "bad" this weekend as I had to take my dog to the emergency vet! I was so stressed over the whole situation I forgot to eat on Sunday!! She is fine, just minor surgery...but the poor thing will be wearing a cone for the next 2 weeks. See my gallery for a pic!!! Hope your weekends were better than mine....3 days until weigh ins!

I am a supinator and got the Asics Gel Equation 2. I did some research before I got them. I found out that I was wearing a shoe for a overpronatora and realized thats why I was having a lot of pains in/around my hips. Im so glad that I did my homework and I have had no pain since I started using my new shoes. I shopped around and was able to get them for less than $40 from my local Kohls! I am very happy with them!! |

Exercise wise this has been an awesome week for me! Ive already gone spinning three times and worked myself really hard with weights at home!! Scale wise...not the greatest! With birthday meals and TTOM I am retaining some water weight! I maintained up until yesterday and then 1.5 more pounds suddenly showed up on the scale. Im hoping with a very low sodium day, tons of water, and the gym tonight I can get rid of that weight....or maybe this week I wont lose and then I will shed an extra pound next week!!! Im crossing my fingers!! Good luck at weigh ins ladies! |

Im single, but I still try to do this as much as I can. I even do lasagnas...but I make smaller portions in those mini loaf pans and freeze them. I use a whole pack of noodles and make around 5-6 of them! They stack nicely in the freezer too!! I just pull one outta the freezer in the morning and pop it in the oven when I get home from the gym. It ends up being two meals for me, so I wont get sick of eating it!! I also make my whole grains (coucous, quinoa, pasta, rice) and beans/legumes on Sunday nights for the week! I portion them out for lunches and dinners and freeze the rest for a later date!! Again these are so easy to use after freezing..just pop in the microwave for about 60 seconds!! |

definitely try to hit up their bulk bins. you can find items like whole wheat couscous, quinoa, instant refried black beans, wild rice, low fat granola, whole wheat flour, etc! all are excellent diet staples!! |

bean and lentils are a good source of protein. I like to make black bean salad with either couscous or quinoa. then add a little evoo, apple cider vinegar, green onion, cilantro, jalepos, and red onions!!! its awesome! then i get my protein and carbs!! i also curry a lot of lentils!! I also eat a lot of boca products. the roasted garlic burgers, chik'n patties, and italian sausages are all soo good you dont even notice they arent "real meat"! |

Good Morning and TGIF!! 146.5!!! One more pound gone forever (I HOPE!). I tried to be extra good this week b/c I already know that next week is going to be a struggle! Its my b-day..which means eating out and ice cream cake...and also TTOM! Its like a double dose of sabotage. You think there is any way the two "bads" will cancel each other out? I doubt it! Oh well, one can dream!! I hope everyone else had a good week and keeps it up all through the weekend! Steph |

Everyone has been pretty quiet this week! Maybe its just because we have all been soooo busy working out and making healthy meals/snacks=-) Right?? Ive been really busy and trying to put in extra time in at the gym (I hope its pays off when I hit the scales Friday)! My sister and I finally decided on a triathlon date so Ive got to get more serious about my workouts! We try to compete in one every year...its a nice goal to work towards and its even better when you actually accomplish it! We only have ONE full day until weigh ins, so lets keep up the good work ladies!! |

jane3001- I might have a solution for your problem of not being able to find this forum. Not sure if you use the "Tag It" funciton...but I find it very helpful! At the top of the page, right under the moderators names, you will see the words "Tag It", if you click on it you can always find it easily. When you are in "My Account" you will see a phrase up on top of the page that says "Tagged Items", click on it, and you can go back to any items you want to easily access..such as foods, recipes, forums, etc. I have tagged all the food I log regularly, recipes I dont want to re-enter, and forums I dont want to search for! Maybe this will help! And if you already use this function..sorry for the long explanation..maybe it will help somebody else!! I would be up for weekly challenges. Off to the gym! |

Good Morning! I weighed in at 147.5 this morning! -1lb! Now, I just have to keep my momemtum going through the weekend...its so easy to over eat and not get my water in on Saturday & Sunday!!! I think that upping my cals to 1700 may have helped! I guess I will find out next week if it really was the increased cals!! Congrats to all the "losers"! and to everyone else...keep up the good work! Sooner or later we will all be in your shoes and we will need your encouragement!!! Does anybody have any dieting obstacles that they will be facing this weekend? Steph |

Good Luck bumble1.....cant wait to hear the results!! So, Ive been experimenting all week with eating more calories. I up-d my calories from 1500 to 1700 to see what would happen. After only losing .5lbs last week I thought maybe I needed to change it up a little bit. Im actually looking forward to weigh ins tomorrow night.... Keep up the good work everyone!! |
