Vegetarian Fat vs. Protein - what does your body actually need? Jan 28 2008

I find for me that protein doesn't fill me up or keep me full at all. I think you are consuming more fiber then before. Eating a raw diet, you are mostly likly consuming more fiber from your foods than before. I do know when I do have some pre-made raw foods like the Lara bars, I look at the fiber content, and it is higher then just a normal energy bar and I stay fuller longer on it (lara bar) then on a cliff bar. Also when you cook beans you are breaking down the fiber content, where as by consuming them sprouted, you are getting more fiber, and a living protein. just my 2 cents..
Foods flax seed Jan 28 2008

Flax seed should be used in the oil form or ground (freshly) for your body to actually absorb the omega-3's from it. Because the seed is so small it normally doesn't get chewed up in our mouths. And to get the good stuff out, the hull has to be cracked. You can grind it up in a coffee mill, just plus for a couple of seconds and you will crack the hulls. Don't by the already ground flax seed meal, cause anything beneficial will have disappeared from it by the time you go to eat it. Hope this give you some more information

Foods Agave nectar instead of honey? Jan 28 2008

I am with redkitty, I love agave nectar. I have had it in tea and it don't overwhelm the tea like honey or maple can do.  Agave is more of a subtle flavor. It is great in yogurt as well.

Also the sugar free syrups have some sort of sugar substitute in them, like aspertame or sucrlose, which are not good for you. The are finding out that aspertame is causing holes in the brain and when it comes in contact with metal and warmed up, it chemically turns to formaldhyde. Suclorse is a by product of antifreeze, so can't be really healthy for you.

#28 bad week weight went up this morning to 259.8.  Well chips, brie, wine and bread, plus lots of chocolate. Totally off food plan this past week. No excuses, just my reality. But today back on. Logging food, and drink water. I will get back down.

Foods Do you have fennel experience? Jan 04 2008

I love it mixed in a salad. Fennel is one of my favorites as well. Roasting it with other veggies is yummy as well. I will also throw a little into stews and soups for an added taste.
Foods is 2 oz (1/2 cup) of pasta a normal serving??? Nov 30 2007

I normally measure it out cooked with a measuring cup. If I have left overs it is lunch for the next day.

I guess it is the normal serving size, but think about it we are encouraged to eat 6 to 11 servings a day...so if you have 2 slices of toast in the morning, and 1 cup of rice at lunch, then you can have 1 to 2 cups of pasta in the evening. Nice!! I love pasta as well...so to be able to have that much as my main course is sweet. Also try angel hair, because it is so thin, you get more...and it looks like there is more pasta as well. ;)

Weight Loss Anyone do their measurements? Nov 27 2007

I take my measurements every few weeks. Since I just started that one, I have yet to track it against anything, but I look forward to seeing the difference. I seem to gain weight evenly, so it will be interesting to see if I lose it evenly.

BTW - CONGRATS!!! Hopefully I will see some great changes in my body as well.
