To be honest, I get tired of hearing that too.  Yes there are unhealthy ways to lose weight like starving yourself or purging but I think if you are "following the rules" of dieting and drinking plenty of water, so what.  When people say it is too much weight to lose and it is unhealthy, I think they are just trying to drag you down because it is not the average weight loss of other people and if it isn't average, then it cannot be good.  I say good for you, just monitor yourself like you have been doing.

I quit smoking after smoking for 4 years.  It took a lot to quit.  I believe to be successful you must be ready.  Just be aware of the want to put something in your mouth.  You have been so used to cigarettes so your hand wants to direct something to your mouth out of habit.  I chew gum to stop the craving for food or a cig.  Just normal gum, not nicorette.  Even if you do gain a couple lbs, you will start feeling so much better that you will want to run around and play with your kids, which helps burn off extra calories!  I feel great and I am happy to be able to play with my daughter.  You can do it to and trust me, you will feel awesome!

You are eating so much because you are growing.  Everyone goes through it in the teenage years.  Your body is using so much energy because of puburty (sp?), it is telling you to eat more.  It will not last long.  It happened to me when I was about 14.  I did gain weight because I wasn't eating the right foods.  It lasted about a year and then it was done.  I actually stopped eating lunch all together after that year because I just was not hungry and survived on just breakfast and lunch.  That helped me lose the weight.  I didn't get cravings to graze again until I became pregnant.

My advice, eat all you want!  Just don't eat what you want.  Eat foods that are low in calories.  There are some foods out there that your body burns more calories trying to digest them than the calories that are in the actual food.  I think they are called empty calories or something.  Google it.  I know apples and one and so are grapefruits.  With these kinds of foods and other low calorie foods, you can eat and eat and eat and not gain anything.

Parents always seem like hypocrites, and they are by definition.  But usually, when a parent tries to offer their guidance like "Don't smoke" even though they do or "Lose weight" even though they are overwieght and don't diet they are trying to help you to avoid making the same mistakes they made.  Your father may have tried to diet and found it discouraging that he couldn't lose weight.  Maybe your father needs motivation to take care of himself.  He doesn't want to see you get the same problems he has, but he doesn't tell you this because he doesn't want to express the fact that he does have those problems because he might not have come to terms with them.  I suggest you both try to lose weight together.
