I love my i-pod for working out. Makes the minutes just melt away. My 2 boys have shuffles and I have a nano I think its called. And, we just got a i-mac so we are just loving the i-tunes. Boys are learning to make play lists and jump around dancing in our family room enjoying all the music. I have copied all our CD's into our old HP computer before it died but they all transfered over just fine. Now I've started buying from i-tunes which is tempting but enjoyable. I figure for $9.99 an album that I enjoy playing a lot for the weekend than occasionally after that is pretty cheap entertainment for a gal that doesn't get out much due to being a single mom. |

Yippee for you Sofia! Sounds like you are now armed with the right information. I love CC+. Once I found how to track my calories intake and calories expended it was a whole new world. I have been stalled at around 200-205 all summer but this morning 198.5! So good news for me as well. Keep up the good work.

Well I am right there with you. I've dropped about 50lbs down to 200lb about. I am 5'3". I was in a 22 and now 14/16 depending on the brand. I do have 50lbs more to go at least. People seem to feel I am in the normal category now but my BMI still says crazy too much. Just to get down to the overweight category of BMI I'd need to reach 152lbs. I know I have large bones but that seems alot. i think the answer is somewhere in between. We'll see when I get closer I guess. |

Interesting... My analysis currently is this: Fat - 18.2% (18 grams) which if calculated on percentage of total grams would be 9%, 41% and 49% respectively. 9% 41% 49% |

Could be a delayed stress thing. I figured out years too late that I convice myself physically that I am hungry due to stress. I had to learn to eat what should be a reasonable portion an then do something else and wait a couple hours before having another small, measured meal. Good if it just happens to you once. |

good morning ash and welcome! hope you like it here. I have been a member since last fall. I am now at 196.5 today down from over 250 last summer. It is just a lifestyle thing. Eat healthy, acknowledge food varies in calories and select reasonable choices and lots of exercise. I made my goal of improving my fitness to ski this winter and I got in 14 days so far and lots of fun with my young sons who took up snowboarding. Maybe a little more spring skiing but on to roller blading and biking. I am just loving this. |

When I log time on the bike I search on "bike". there are alot of choices depending on level of effort, etc. I look at a couple and use something in between. Also, I think the calorie count one is sensitive to your weight as it will change the calories expended. |

Original Post by kimothyschma: Me too. Just LOVE plain, non-fat, organic yogurt. I just passed on a yogurt at Starbucks this morning because they only have flavoured ones. It was non-fat and organic but with peaches and 20+grams of sugar seems too syrupy. so my favorite way with plain yogurt lately is to sprinkle 2 tbsp of wheat germ and add 1 cup of frozen fruit. |

| Foods | How do you learn to like salads?? | Mar 27 2008 18:54 (UTC) |

Im not a big salad fan. I buy lettuce (romaine) each week and a variety of veggies, fruits and nuts to put in but I rarely end up using the lettuce. I really seem to prefer just lots of cut up veggies and try to add some to most meals. I serve with lunch and dinner and for snacks as well. also fruit and nuts as well. How much nutrition can I be missing in the lettuce? Also, no loss for the dressings, I just don't bother. |

Hi Lauren. I notice that right after the second or third day of TOM I see a couple pounds come off. they stay off too. I don't worry any more that the last 2 week the weight doesn't seem to budge cause I know a couple pounds is adding for TOM. Seems to be still over all losing month to month. I like to look back and see where I was at TOM each month so I note it in my weight log. Good job closing in on 50lbs! I was close to 250 and now in the 190s and it feels great. Would love to see the 180s though! Its great to see consistent results each month as it keeps me motivated. Erica |

| Weight Loss | Burn Calculator | Mar 26 2008 21:39 (UTC) |

The number at the top of the burn meter is what it estimates you will burn for your whole day including sitting and sleeping. The big number estimates where your are with that at the time of the day you are looking. If you add exercise both numbers will go up. Just keep looking at the top number (larger) for what your at for the day and compare it to your total calories eaten and hopefully you arrive at a deficit. You need to have a deficit over the week of 3500 calories in total to loose 1 lbs. If you have no deficit you should maintain. If you eat over and have a surplus you would be gaining. Hope that helps. Most are aiming for a daily deficit of about 500 calories. Good luck. |

Happy to share mine. Only half way there, maybe. Slight set back a while ago when I got a new scale and found my old one was 7+/- lbs out. Eeek maybe that means my original weight was even more than I thought. Anyway, happy with progess and hoping to keep it going this year. This weekend has been a bust though. Almost no computer access and away on vacation. Skiing anyway will burn off loads of calories so I shouldn't gain in any event. |

Original Post by haley_2008: Way to go Haley. I am very happily sporting size 14's and some are getting too lose. Funny how overnight they become loose. These are very new pants and even the next week can be loose again. Only loosing 1 or 2 lbs a week?? i like the loosing weight but not all the expense of buying new pants.

| Weight Loss | "loose skin" dilemma | Mar 18 2008 23:26 (UTC) |

I have heard that it takes up to a year for the fat to reaarrange after weight loss, etc. I would wait a year and then see how you feel. In the meantime, GOOD JOB, WAY TO GO! I ditto jjewis that your prospects are great being so young. For myself, I am 42 years old and down 55lbs so far and want to loose that again. I am hoping my skin will cooperate but we'll see. I intend to give it the year once I get to my goal before I loose hope. So far so good. |

| Weight Loss | Is it ok to skip dinner if your already up to your calorie total for the day??? | Mar 18 2008 18:45 (UTC) |
2 |
Well I skipped dinner last night in favour of a bottle of wine! Very bad I know. I had lots of calories 1150+ spaced throughout the day and exercise. I have generally sworn off any wine for the sake of the calories so one day is okay I figure. The bad part is it did lead to raiding the fridge for a few unaccounted for snacks late at night. Nothing too bad. Few slices of shaved turkey breast, few flavoured rice cakes. Came out okay. just a headache today. |

Definitely add as much water as you possibly can get down. All the time, have a glass of water. Yo'll be running tothe lou but it does wonders for puffiness. Also watch alcohol, coffee and sodium as you have guessed. But in any event combat this with more water. |

I think it would be a good idea for you to actually count your calories for a few days or a week to ensure you are eating in a moderate deficit. So say your total burn was 2300. You could aim to eat around 1800 per day. Aim for healthy but watch the calories. Too little or too much can be very detrimental to your efforts. Logging calories is often a real eye opener. Just good to be sure. Good luck. |
