I work for a MMA gym. When i started i couldn't do a pushup only "girl" ones. Now i can do 3 minute rounds non-stop. What i did was as many as i could do and the went to girl pushups. Only if i could only do one reggae pushup that's what i did. To learn proper form (and to build my core muscles which surprisingly have a lot to do with everything) i did planks. (you are in pushup form with your elbows on the ground and hold that position for 30 seconds at a time for three full minutes, maybe a 5-10 second rest in between.)

I'm 5'7 1/2 i'm currently at 136.5 but 125 is my goal too

it's been 4 years since i was that little and it will be just a few weeks before i'm there again. So exciting!

If your goal is just to burn calories, I'd go sit in a sauna for 30 minutes at 120 degrees...

My mother was vegan at the time of my birth and eventually went to the "dark side" as she became more popular and successful (she's an executive chef). I on the otherhand didn't waiver from my upbringing until i was about 15 and had my first scoop of ice cream...went all down hill from there. I spent the next 7 1/2  years eating all the cream and cheese and eggs i could get my hands on, lol. I am now a born again vegan and have been for about 2.5 months. Even though this a lifestyle I am completely proud of and extrememly comfortable in because of the way I was raised, I am much more understanding in my reasoning and feel liberated that I had the ability to make the choice on my own this time.

 

BTW...How much does fake meat taste like the real thing...I think my mom lies to me about how similar they taste...

i only eat 3 oz of fish a day and am never striving to meat protein requirements. what do you consider not enough protein?

if i am only having a salad i usually do a cup and half of lettuce and tablespoons of toppings.  if i am having a soup and salad i have 1 cup of soup and one cup of salad... but it depends on your personal preference. spending calories on salad is not a bad thing...so make it as big as you need and count it up!

One of my co-workers came to my office one afternoon and asked me what i was doing for the evening. I had made plans to watch american gangster with my hubby and another couple and told him that. His reply "do you need any company? I could come over and watch the movie with you only problem is i wouldn't have a ride home so i could sleep on the couch and you could just take me to work in the morning with you"I couldn't resist poking fun at his stupidity. "why would i need company? i just said i would be with my HUSBAND and my friends...what makes you think sleeping on my couch is a good idea...dont' you have some work to do...we laughed about it all night...

i have never heard of vanilla bean almonds before either. Instead of croutons on my salads, i love to cube a sweet potato and roast it with cayenne pepper sprinkled on top. it tastes amazing! throw in some mandarin oranges and your choice of cheese.( I am partial to goat cheese on this particular salad) oil and vinegar...mmmmmm so so good!!

according to mypyramid.gov carbs should be at 60% and protein and fat should be at 40% - ideally - I'm super stoked that i'm at 48% carbs today for the first time ever!!! cause i'm vegetarian it's been hard to kick the pasta! ha

 

so with 50% you are looking good!

i have no problem eating in front of people but i agree with most when they say that they feel they are being judged. I use that fear of judgement, to my benefit. It keeps me from caving into my junk food cravings. When I am waiting in a long line at the grocery store with the candy staring me in the face, I use that fear of judgement to keep myself on track! This works at home too because i have a two yearold whom doesn't eat your typical toddler foods. She eats what mommy eats so it has to be healthy!

I have lost 24 lbs so far and have 10 more to go.  For words of incouragement I have had what i consider a regular consumption of alcohol for many people in their early 20s (with quite a few moments of overindulgence) but i have kept careful count and stayed on a decent track. So dont' lose your young spirit by being to stingy with your calories because it can still work!

you know what i say go for that blackbean sandwhich!!! black bean burgers and other meat substitutes are amazing! i love them! i have been vegetarian my whole life and have just recently decided that i need some form of meat to maintain a well balanced meal. so breakfast and lunch are strictly meatless and for dinner i have 4oz peice of fish occasionally chicken but not often. I was just reading your post thinking about how good that meal sounds! Thanks for making me hungry, hahaha! I say try it!

Honestly, I have nothing going on around that time but i do have 10 more pounds before i hit my goal so I'm in...it will be nice to not be embarrassed in a bathing suit again. It's been 4.5 years since the last time i felt sexy laying out. :) motivation and accountability is the name of the game!! good luck everyone

i worked at a fast food place when i was 15. This may have been easier for me because i am and have been vegetarian since birth but i would just bring something with me to snack on like grapes baby carrots etc and have a side salad on my break.... which fast food joint do you work at??
