Last game I went to one of the stands had grilled chicken sandwiches. Maybe look for that w/o the mayo. It's gotta be much healthier than the alternatives. Good luck and have fun at the game! |

I love love love Cooking Light! I get the mag and I'm on the website almost everyday. A few of the recipes I use are the oven fried chicken from 06 along with garlic fries. They are so good. Covered in garlic fresh parsely and a little parmesan but they get crispy when baked in the oven and you can't even tell that either are not deep fried. Also there's a recipe called Dracula's revenge. It's penne with a cheese sauce, italian turkey sausage and tons of garlic. hope this helps! |

Hi all- Sorry I didn't reply sooner but we have been at the hospital since early Friday night. I just want to thank those of you that said medical attention is absolutely necessary. I could not agree more. The strain that my boyfirend put on his body trying to stop drinkling alone was life threatening. He has been in the cardiac unit since Friday due to a heart rate exceeding 150 and blood pressure through the roof. I'm happy to say that those are both stable as of this morning and will be moved to a normal room tonight (if all stays well) The heart wrenching thing is that we are waiting on more test results. The drinking has pretty much started to destroy his liver. Today we shold find out if it is just fatty deposits on his liver which he can reverse with proper diet etc or it could be the begining stage of cirrhosis. Again I just wanted to say thank you to all. I will keep you posted when I can....

Just an update. He went to the hospital today because the pains he's been having were finally too unbearable. So far they said he has alcohol induced gastritus, ulcers, and the lining is practically shot in his stomach. They are going to do some more tests as well we think.... |

Thank you all for helping me with suggestions and opening up about your own personal experiences. It truly means a lot. pgeorgian & cnj- I have that fear. He thinks it will go away on it's own and I know it won't. I'm just terrified with him thinking this way because I can tell he is detoxing and it could be deadly. I will help him anyway I can but it is ultimately up to him. |

I think I will try Alanon. I've been through my own personal battles in my life with certain things and have overcome them and I do know it is a hard thing to admit first of all but then following through is the toughest. It's an every day battle. I just have to keep telling myself just because I did it dosen't mean he can or is ready to deal with his problems. It's just so upsetting. |

dove2424- thanks for the idea, I've checked for meetings, doctors, etc in the area. gi-jane-I'm sorry that you went through that. It's so terrible to see someone you love and care about so much have absolutely no control. It's gotten to the point where I feel guilty if I have a drink so I just don't when I'm around him anyomore. i know he's the only one that can do anything about this. I'm just tired of all the drunken fights and the apologies that follow the next day. I wish I believed him last night when he said he would get help but I just don't. It's really straining me emotionally, mentally, etc. Thank you for the advice, I really mean that. |
