02/29: 124 03/07: 123 03/14: 122.5 03/21: 121.8 lbs Not quite a pound, but I'll take it! My main goal for the coming week will be to stay away from those Easter chocolates (I'm looking at you, Cadbury mini eggs) and really watch what I eat. I've got a semi-formal work function coming up on April 5th and I want to look amazing in my new dress. Enjoy the weekend everyone! |

My internet died yesterday, but thankfully now it is up and running. I had to guesstimate how many calories I had that day, and I guess I didn't eat too much, because my weight went down. I also had a pretty good week and was able to get all my exercise in. Yay! 02/29: 124 03/07: 123 03/14: 122.5 Goals for next week: Although I've been upping the exercise, I've started to skimp on drinking water again. I don't know why it's so hard for me lol. So this week I'll get back on it! 8 glasses a day for me! Congrats everyone, on your losses so far! :) |

The snow started long ago this afternoon (I'm in Oakville), so I'm all hunkered down in the house with the fireplace and some marshmallows at the ready for smores with the fam. Might be a challenge to keep myself from eating more than one though! Aside from not being able to go to the gym, I am actually kinda glad that the weather is going to be crap this weekend. Now I have no distractions/excuses and I can stay at home and get some work done lol. Stay warm everyone! Oh, and my name is Carlita, and I'm 25. :) |

Weighing in, and I'm happy to report I'm down from last week. Granted, I am kinda back to where I started, but at least it's not going in the other direction. :) 02/29: 124 03/07: 123 Goals for next week: Weather permitting, I will get my butt to the gym more than I did this week (sad to say I only went twice). I'm going to be ambitious and aim for at least 4. Trippdz:Wow, congrats on 35 pounds gone! I would love to suggest something like a weightloss challenge at my office, but I work with some uppity older folk that would probably be offended if I did! (Although they could definitely stand to lose some). |

I am so with you guys on banning the scale! I knowthat I can't really gain 2lbs of fat within a day, but I worry about it anyway. Thankfully I have gotten over my compulsion to check my weight multiple times in a day... and in doing that saved myself from a whole lotta stress. Now I do it only a couple times a week. Crossing my fingers that when I check again tomorrow the number will go down this time - I've been super vigilant this week and TTOM (and those stupid cravings) are long gone. :) |

I'm from Ontario too... live in the GTA and loving this snow... no, no, I jest. I can't wait for it to go away so I can start jogging outside! The treadmills at the gym can get boring real fast. Then again, with all the snow I haven't exactly been so good with getting to the gym these days lol. |

My first weigh in! Last week - 123lbs This week - 124lbs.. (I blame TTOM's water weight for my gain, and this horribly uncomfortable bloated feeling I'm experiencing right now. bleh) I am still forcing down that water though. Next week I will aim for 7 glasses per day. Hope everyone else is having better luck! |

Original Post by jaylynn7: Did you consider that you might be putting on muscle, and that you are not just putting on 4lbs of fat? Not sure if your workouts include lifting weights or cardio (or both), but that could be a possible reason for weight gain. Those four pounds could also be water weight - make sure you're well hydrated and keep an eye on your daily level of sodium in your food log. And I wouldn't recommend eating only chicken and fish. Not only does that sound totally unappetising, but very hard to maintain too. Just my 2cents. |

Oops! Guess I missed that part. Thanks momo! Well, here are my stats: 25 yr old female My daily goals are to:Eat at minimum 1500 cals a day (days I exercise I will have more), and to drink 8 glasses of water everyday. My friends laugh at me when I say this (and you might too lol, thats okay), but I actually have a really hard time drinking so much in one day! It's taken me months to be able to work my way up from like 1 or 2 glasses of water to about 6 per day. I dunno why that is, but I do know that my stomach hurts if I have too much at once. And then of course I spend all my time in the bathroom. Anyone know why this is? Or have any tips? This looks like a great group - hope everyone is doing well with their goals so far :) |

I can totally relate to how you are feeling. I just started that TTOM too. BLAH! I'm not sure how long the bloating and whatnot lasts, but I find cutting back on salty foods and drinking more water helps a little. And I do allow myself some chocolate if I feel like it - even a tiny piece can make me feel loads better. Just keep reminding yourself that it will all be over in a week. That's what I tell myself when even the chocolate doesn't seem to work. :) Oh, I almost forgot to add: Try not to peek at the scale during that time! I say what you don't know won't hurt you, hehe. |

So I went up one pound... but I take solace in the fact that it could have been more, considering it's TTOM! It's soo hard because I feel like I want to eat everything in sight, even though I'm not hungry. Congrats to everyone for another week of losses... or gains! You still made it, and there's always next week, right? (: |

Oops, I didn't weigh in last friday! Sorry, there was a lot going on in my house. Thankfully it didn't make me gain... How did you choose your goal weight? I used to weigh 110 not so long ago, so I thought it a reasonable goal to want to get back to that weight. I have definitely put on a lot more muscle than I used to have though, so I guess if I hit 115 and stay there I'll be happy too. Just need the number on the scale to start moving (downward!) first! |

What motivates me: It feels very silly to say it, but eating healthy and exercising is what motivates me to continue eating healthy and exercising! I know that if I don't get in some cardio or weights in the morning before work I feel, and probably look, like a zombie. I'll have zero energy, and thats not good. One day I even fell asleep at my desk for a bit after lunch, but thankfully no one saw me! (Or at least I hopeno one did, lol). Same goes for eating well... while I allow myself treats or dessert whenever I feel like it, the few times I really go overboard I find it will make my stomach ache or I just feel "blah" after eating. Feeling like that is just not worth overindulging to me, no matter how yummy it may have been! |

Original Post by kat0386: Hehe, you're right. It's just frustrating to see such a teeny tiny movement, even after I'd been doing everything right this past week - eating lots of fruits and veggies, drinking lots of water, exercising, staying within my calorie limit, and so on. I will try to keep my head up though. Keep at it everyone (and I will too)! (: |

Hey Mandi, thanks again for setting up this group! I try to work out for about an hour 5-6 days a week these days. When I first started working on my weight I think I only did it a couple times a week. Maybe three at the most. But now that I'm a little over 10lbs away from my goal I have to work that much harder. It's taken me from October until now to lose only THREE POUNDS! Craziness I tell you. Anyone else having that same sort of issue? Surely I'm not the only shorty that's cursed with super-slow weightloss here. :P |

Hey all, hope everyone is off to a good start! Weigh in for: 01/11 Tonia, if I am not mistaken, I think you can tag forum posts just like you can with your favourite foods, etc. That way you can look it up in your 'tagged items' whenever you like. |

| Weight Loss | Binge Eating Before Bed Within Calorie Intake | Nov 05 2007 20:35 (UTC) |

Is there a reason why you can't eat or have a snack around lunchtime... or at any other time during the day? Maybe you won't gain weight because you stay within your cal limit for the day, but I hardly see how this is going to help your body or your metabolism in the long run. And thats a LOT of food so soon before bed! You might want to take that into account when you're rethinking your eating habits as well. |

I would go for the sushi. Like the others have posted, I too don't see the point to this diet/cleanse (also, I looked up the recipe and it sounds revolting, no wonder people lose weight on this, they probably throw it all up... bleh). What I want to know is why you would rather waste three days - where you could be eating healthily and exercising for steady, more easily maintainable weight loss - just to see a 2-5lb drop on the scale that you know is going to come back as soon as you start eating solid food again? Why go through the trouble? |

You're not eating enough. I work out much like you do, 5xs a week I run, 3xs a week I lift weights, and if I feel like it I might do something light on weekends like yoga, or walking. The only difference is that I eat back ALL of the calories I burn. I was in your shoes not too long ago, and after talking to a nutritionist (and checking out this website, of course!) I realised that because I wasn't eating back the calories I burned through exercise, my metabolism was slowing down. It was holding on to whatever fat I had and thus I was not losing any weight. I have since upped my intake and my weight has been coming off, slowly, but surely. So go eat! :) EDIT: I don't know if this helps, but for the record I am 5'3", weigh 122 (trying to get back to 115) and I eat between 1500 - 1600 calories on the days that I exercise according to this site. |

My sister also has degenerative disks in her lower back, and she still manages to run 20mins a day, three times a week. Her pain runs from medium to mild though, and she has been seeing a PT (physiotherapist - not personal trainer) for about six months now. She has worked up to that run from walking and riding a recumbent bike for only 10mins every few days. Have you considered seeing a physiotherapist? They can give you all sorts of stretches and recommend exercises that will help strengthen your lower back, making it easier for you to exercise on your own. As for the nutrition, well.. I'm still working on that myself. ;) But this site has some great tools to help, and everyone on the forums is super nice if you have any more questions. Good luck! |

Try Cold FX. I tried it not too long ago after I started experiencing some cold-like symptoms... within three days they were gone and I felt great! And I didn't feel drowsy or anything while I was taking it. Some of my friends swear by this stuff, and I have yet to hear any horror stories. :) |

This is such a cute thread! I love the stories. Mine is not so cute or exciting. I love cake (don't eat so much of it anymore, unfortunately... or fortunately, depending on how you see it!), and I'm a little on the short side, apparently. Too bad "shortcake" was already taken. :)

Instead of adding milk to my oatmeal, I like to make it with yogurt. I just cook about 1/3-1/2 a cup of oats with water (sometimes in the microwave if I'm lazy... actually that happens a lot..), then add a few spoonfuls of vanilla or fruit-flavoured yogurt and then a pinch of cinnamon if it's not sweet enough for my liking. Works for me most mornings. :) |

Totally agree with the fruit suggestion. Also, try tossing all your sugar-laden, overly processed foods. Or leave them as an "anonymous gift" in your lunchroom at work. That's what I did, hehe. A little extreme, I know... I suppose you could always try getting rid of some of the reallybad ones to start with though. I did that about two weeks ago and have been eating lots of fruits, or drinking fruit-flavoured herbal tea when I crave something sweet now. As strange as it sounds, my new favourite snack is frozen grapes now. The cookies and ice cream I used to want for dessert I don't even give a second glance to. Well, except for special occassions. ;) |
