| The Lounge | I hang on to money too much? | Oct 11 2009 07:33 (UTC) |

That's funny, my boyfriend is the same. We are starting to rub off on each other though, he's been getting more money conscious and smarter about spending, he's also been putting a portion of his paycheck into savings. As for me I'm not quite as uptight, I don't deny myself as much. And then think that at least your not WASTING the money, it is going towards something that you worked hard for and is yours and is providing a necessity to your life I was actually trying to tell myself the same thing. Anyway thanks for the tips! |

I like names with some thought put into it. See what she's like for a day or two, her personality, interesting markings, colours etc. I named one of our cats Alomar because he has extra toes and his paws looked like a baseball mitt, so I named him after the baseball player Roberto Alomar (I was 11 and he's the only one I knew :P)...we just call him Al though. My brother got a calico kitten, I thought of Jenga since her blobs of colour sort of fit together like jenga blocks. Also Maui (like 'mow-ie', kinda like the sounds cats make), Terra (like tera firma, her blobs are like the continants of earth). A friend had one named Pebbles which is cute. My dad's dog's name is Isis (Egyptian goddess), which fits her because she's a pure white blue eyed husky, so it sounds like 'Ice'. One of her puppies I named Sabbath because he was the 7th and last born. I had a black rat when I was 8 that I named Pitch, more unique than 'Blackie' (no offense to anyone but I really hate that name). Anyway, I say be creative :) |

Maybe you could call animal control and find out what they would do exactly? I think you should report it though, the fact that they don't at least keep that female seperate while she's in heat shows they are a) stupid and shouldn't own pets or b) don't care as much as you think and shouldn't own pets. |

I also dreamed I had a baby last night, there was no actual being pregnant or giving birth part though. It stayed a baby for a couple days and then it suddenly was a few years old. I remember thinking just how well behaved this baby was (never cried) and that having one wasn't so bad after all. |

ok..what about an RRSP GIC? (sounds like it might be the same as an IRA?) Tax wise maybe it's better than a regular GIC. Is there someone I could talk to that isn't affiliated with a bank so I can get unbiased advice/explanations in person? |

Original Post by splitrail: Cayo Coco at the NH Krystal. The beaches there do look amazing. I got an email back from Achieva that says I can't add more funds to a GIC until it matures. So what I'll probably do is put 5k into the tax free GIC, then the rest into a regular GIC. Then I'll have to decide if I want to start adding to a TFSA, or get another TF GIC for 5k. The latter would make more but again I wouldn't have access to it. Although if I started getting one each year, then after the initial 5 years, I'd start having a mature GIC every year. (I hope my reasoning makes sense to everyone :P) |

I could lend you my kitten that has been constantly walking back and forth in front of me trying to rub herself on my face while I'm trying to type on here (I'm on my bed with the laptop). She seems to be an insomniac too, I think her favourite time to try to get attention and play is the middle of the night. I have to lock her out of my room at night because she will just keep walking in a circle on me and my pillow, then stick her face in mine as if to check if I'm awake. I try to put up with it in hopes she will eventually lay down and sleep, but she doesn't stop! |

Original Post by alibsam: Well from my researching of the place, it seems American's are finding ways to go there anyway. I didn't really know much about Cuba, it wasn't my first choice, but it's definitely cheaper than other countries. The cheapest package I found was like $460 for a week :s (that's flight, hotel, food and drinks).
My bank only offers 2.10% for 5 year, so I'll probably go with the online ones. |

Bonds sounded good until I read about them, right now I don't want to do anything that I could lose money on. Can you put more money into a GIC/CD? Or do you have to keep starting separate ones? I am trying to figure out which route or combinations will produce the most. Achieva Financial and Outlook Financial have 3.8% interest on GICs (ING has 3%), I could put 5k into the TFSA GIC, and then the rest into a regular GIC. That's why I'm wondering if I can keep adding 5k a year on the TFSA GIC (and if I have more, add it to the other one). That would make the most money, the downside would be I don't have access to the money for 5 years...well I guess that could also be a plus (no option to spend it) :P |

So I could put $5000 into the TFSA and the rest of the money into a CD (GIC is the Canadian version I believe)? Since CDs have a higher rate than savings accounts, and if I need to I can take money out of the TFSA. ING has 3% rate for the TFSA, which is a lot more than the other places, is there a catch I'm not seeing? |

I don't plan on spending it...well I mean one day it will be spent on something of course, but I'm confident it could be untouched for a long time. I am not saving for anything in particular, I just like the idea that I can make money off of it while it's sitting around :) Looking around these websites makes me feel like I have small potatoes though lol. |

| The Lounge | moving in with your boyfriend/girlfriend | Jun 03 2009 17:38 (UTC) |

It's crossed my mind because we live at opposite ends of the city and we both live at home, so visiting kind of sucks. I've been getting the itch to move out but know if I moved out I'd want a roommate for company and splitting costs. The only person I'd want to see that often is him, plus there would be no privacy issues. I made a comment about it once and he said he didn't want us to become like this other couple that is always fighting...(but they fought all the time even before moving in together). We've never had an actual argument. I know that would probably change once we see each other day in day out. I have this little fantasy of decorating my new place, seeing my bf everyday and having a place to invite friends to :P. The whole thing is just kind of frustrating. I did live with an ex for a few months and it was good. I enjoyed 'playing house', we'd go grocery shopping, he'd cook, I'd do the dishes, etc. It probably won't happen any time soon. |

The second time I went on the pill I lost my libido, and even after I went off it 2 months later it wasn't the same. It was barely back for almost 2 years. I haven't had that problem since I started dating my new bf end of December, and within the last month or so I've almost been my old self, which is like a rabbit lol...I don't know if it's more than that he's just so good at it :P |

Mine are 15" and I still have the same problem (I believe 14" is the cutoff of 'normal' boots), I only lost 0.5" on them after losing 20lb, they're just mainly muscle. The only tall boots I own have laces, which still barely cover the tongue of the boot. The only pair I could zip up (barely) was one that had elastic material down the back of the boot. I always get a little annoyed when I see girls who can fit their jeans inside the boot too :/ |

| The Lounge | How long do you wait? | Apr 09 2009 07:38 (UTC) |

I've never actually 'waited'. It didn't always happen the very first time we were together but that was due to circumstances/how things played out. I've also never done the typical dating though, except for one guy I already knew them all in some way. My bf and I work at the same place, but we didn't really interact much until the work Christmas party. Then we started talking on facebook/msn, then I went Christmas shopping with him, and then boxing day I went home with him after work - had Aunt Flo not been visiting we would have done more than fool around. Actually he had said on our way there that he didn't want to have sex yet so it wouldn't ruin anything, but I still think it would have happened haha. Once you're comfortable enough with them, I don't see the point in waiting. Number of partners doesn't matter per se, I mean I would find it kinda gross if he had been with many random girls, but as long as he checks out clear I wouldn't not date him I guess. My bf and I haven't discussed numbers, just through conversations I know he's had a few girlfriends, and a casual thing with one woman. |

but alas, I would just tell him your situation. He can decide if he wants to pay or not then. |

I got the card to mainly start building up credit history, and also so I don't have to keep borrowing mom's when there isn't another option. I rarely carry cash, or if I do it's like $30-$40 for 'just in case' money, I always just used my debit card...so I'm now using the credit card in it's place and don't plan on treating it any differently or suddenly going crazy on purchases. I just see the balance in my online banking account and get the urge to pay it lol. |

I used to think CHI was the best until I read the reviews, seems they're produced faster these days so the quality has come down. I just got the Solia, if it wasn't for the currency exchange rate I'd have gone for the Sedu (well and I liked the blue/black of the Solia :P), plus the free shipping didn't apply to Canada, so it just added up to too much. But try it out I guess, I mean all these brand straighteners have broken on someone, so the CHI you get might be fine. Personally I'd get the Sedu out of all of them if money wasn't an issue. |

I was my ex's first, he had fooled around with girls but never got down to the deed. I had been with 5 guys. While he didn't actually want to break up so he could screw around, he felt the same as your bf, like he missed out on something and that it basically wasn't "fair". Well he's since been with a bunch of women and now really wants to be with just one girl again. He doesn't like the meaningless sex with random women anymore, he still does it because he's well, horny, but feels bad after the fact. Your bf probably won't listen if you tell him it's not all it's cracked up to be. I know when I was with my first bf I also had thoughts about "is this the only guy I'm ever going to be with?". It's a hard situation... and like the other's said, it probably won't go away. |
