Weight Loss Sodium Nov 30 2007

I was recently at a diabetic clinic and after that was over I asked the dietician about what was a healthy sodium level for me as I have heart disease and high blood pressure and she told me between 1700 and 1400 was a good level for me. I hope this helps.
Motivation Unsupportive Husband! Nov 17 2007

I have been where you are now with a unsupportive husband. The mental scars they give can really pierce like knives. I was not strong enough to ignore the painful criticism. I lost weight and only to let my husband sabatoge me. I finally found a program that worked for me and then I lost him to heart disease and needless to say I gained back all that hard work I had done to lose weight. I am now slowly taking it off again and I have a lot of support. As you see I do know how it feels to have your partner in life throw those knives at you and yet you love them so much leaving them is out of the question. Hang in there and know it will eventually get better. I do not want to go into detail here about the knives that were thrown at from my husband but if you want my support and to just be able to vent to someone who really knows about the hurt a husbands comments can cause then put me on your friends list.

It has been arough year to be a Husker fan but now with Tom Osborne as interim athletic director we expect things to change and some already have. Memorial Stadium is once again sold out and it was a game like days of old yesterday with the Huskers putting a world of hurt on the Wildcats with a score of 73 to 31. I will stick with them though good or bad.

I am a New Yorker who has lived in several states since leaving Barker, New York thirty odd years ago and now am living in Peculiar, Missouri I just moved here in August on my birthday. I lived in Raymore, Missouri prior to that for three years. I could also use a few friends as I am relatively new to this.

I have not lived in NY for a long time but was born in Medina went Barker for school. I lived in Niagara County until 1975. My late husband was raised in Jasper and yes I know where Utica is. My husband's ashes are buried in the cemetary at Jasper. I really miss Seeing everything in New York state not the city. I have fond memories of growing up on farms in New York. My favorite food stand was Reid's in Lockport. They have the best regular and white hots with sauce. It makes my mouth water just thinking about them. I don't know if beef on wicks are still available in Lockport or not but I know Reid's is still there.

Once a New Yorker always a New Yorker. I now live in Missouri.

I'd like to get some New Yorkers on my friends list as I only have two friends so far.

Foods Artificial Sweeteners... bad.. too bad or ok? Nov 10 2007

I'll have to get the recipe to you later as I have not brought my recipe books to my apartment since moving here in August. Friendship bread (cake) is kind of a sweetbread. You make or recieve the batter and you add ingredients for one or two weeks I cannot remember now how long but you use a gallon zip bag to make it in and do not refrigerate. On the last day you divide it into four portions and give them to your friends and keep enough to make the bread. I had been given so many starters that as did my friends that we hated hearing that someone had some and nicknamed it enemy bread. The starter can be frozen and then when you want to use it you let it sit for twenty four hours before starting it. I have used spenda in all my baking and not had any ill effects with it. I even made zuccini brownies using splenda and gluten free flour mix and they turned out pretty good.

You can check wth the manufacturer  to see if the particular modfied food sarch is gluten free or not. It is surprizing what you findwheat products in. I bought some beef jerky thinking it would not have any wheat in it and I let my nine year old gradson have some and when he complained of a stomach ache I checked the ingredients which I normally do to start with and  didn't this time I found some wheat in it. Always read your labels!!!! My son-in-law and one grandson have celiac's disease

Try making some chili with no beans or tomato soup from scratch or low sodium.

I also am in trouble if it is bad for you as I have diabetes and always buy it by the box or bag as it is cheaper than the packets. I use splenda just like sugar in all my recipes including cookies, pies cakes and stuff like that. I even used it in my amish friendship cake and it still fermented like sugar does.

If you use the recipe section under my account you should be able to come close to figuring it out. The filling is generally mustard, mayo and the yolk, sometimes they put sweet relish in but you would be able to tell if that was in there.

I am not sure about the wax paper but you can get parchment paper in the same area you got the wax paper and it is made to go in the oven. I use it all the time for my cookies (no sticking or mess to clean). I also use it for anything I am baking like meats, squash, veggies, etc.

I have never tried them because of the sodium and price. I was recently at a Avon party and found in the book some insulated containers from Curves that a person can put hot soup in the top and a compartment on the bottom for crackers. Of course you could use any hot meal in it. They also have a salad bowl from Curves in the book. There is usually healthier choices available other than high sodium and over priced frozen dinners. Hope this helps.
Motivation Slow-paced dieters? Let's rally!! Oct 31 2007

I have to diet slow as I have heart disease, pancreatitis, and diabetes. I lost weight four years ago but put it all back on after my husband's death and am now in the process of taking it back off. I have lost 26 pounds since the diagnosis of diabetes in March. I babysit my three year old granddaughter and find it hard to exercise as I have her from dark until dark. I do take her walking to a close by park sometimes. I am in desperate need of motivation and my health should be enough I know but it is hard. I am getting there though a little at a time and that is what my cardiologist told me to do. Keep at it.
