Oh I was on this diet for a while as a student but that was more, why waste money on food when I need alcohol? Very effective though! |

| The Lounge | So all in all it's not been a great day... | Oct 08 2009 15:33 (UTC) |

I decided to drop out of uni a while ago and I had to wait until my dad gets back from holiday to come get me as I have loads of stuff. Me and my mum (who hadn't gone on holiday with him) had it all organised so he would come pick me up today and so I've been officially withdrawn and all that, but my dad cant come get me today as he can't drive cos hes been drinking. This is what my mum told me at 9 this morning (she was also quite annoyed with him). So now I'm just sitting in my room all packed up and have to wait 'till tomorrow for him to come get me so I've got another day of paying for my accomadation, not looking for a job back home and just sitting on my bum with nothing to do. At least the uni hasn't kicked me out and are letting me stay in halls 'till I hand my key back. Phew. I assume this was a "lets all complain about our day" thread... |

Omg yes! I find it chills me out enough so I can actually face opening the book (I often can't do that sober I just break down) but no where near even tipsy so I can still concentrate and understand. Woah that looks so bad written down! But no I hate studying. And I've just started a university course.... |

| Young Calorie Counters | How many calories? 13 yr old boy. | Sep 28 2009 17:07 (UTC) |

Your a 13 year old boy so if your body says "feed me!" then feed it, it's not like your going to get fat! Although I agree with all of above, getting your calories from sweets and juck food is bad, but if you had anorexia your mum will probably prepare whatever food you want just so she can see you eating!! But mentally I don't think counting calories at 13 (nearly 14) is good 'cos you will easily get obsessed, and as your not massively over/under weight I would just chill dude! (yeah I know, I sound old and uncool and I'm only 18 lol)

Other proper English food (unlike chinese, indian, pizza which we actually eat more of) is toad in the hole, stew and dumplings, sausages! |

Woah I don't agree at all. You have recognised slip ups and can see they one off occaisions where you messed up. You spent a long time completely sober. You are trying to have a heathy attitude towards alcohol not be scared of it. Sound recovered to me. I'm not an alcoholic but my dad was when I was growing up and I now consider him a recovered/recovering alcoholic dispite him drinking everyday. But he doesn't get drunk and I've seen him when he was and I know the difference. This is a such a good topic for this website as in my head alcoholism is very similar to EDs espechically as it is so difficult to draw the line and say "I'm now fixed" which most of the time is impossible. Many people with EDs never completely get over it and just accept their weight they learn to control it and that what it sounds like you are doing. |

At Dominos pizza we are encouraged to get the customers the best deal possible 'cos it makes them go "ohh how lovely - I'll come back" so my way for being evil was not pointing out ways that they could save often quite a bit of money and just gave them exactly what they asked for. Only sometimes though. Probably if they were rude to me. |

I've just got to uni and thought I would be the same as you but I've actually lost quite a bit (no scales) here as I just don't want to eat. I felt really homesick and normally when I feel down I walk round my mums kitchen and eat but as it's not home I just don't want to. I have loads of healthy stuff in the fridge that I could cook but a lot of my calories are comming from alcohol at the moment. Also buying burgers, pizza, ready made sandwiches (which have tempted me a lot) are so expensize!! Can't afford it we are students! |

| Weight Loss | "Naturally Thin" Diet | Jul 28 2008 13:10 (UTC) |

I agree with holsfisher. I don't binge when I'm hungry and I know I'm eating enough food so its not even a subconcious "oh dear havnt eaten in a while must eat lots now" thing. It's just me pigging out with no excuse. However I love the idea of being in the mindset where I only eat when hungry and when I'm full, having the willpower to stop. Well maybe what the book says would work if you spend a few weeks only starting to eat when your hungry and not at set meal times. I would like to try it but I could see my mum folowing me around saying "well you havnt eaten breakfast tut tut tut". Which would be fair enough actually as I do that to her. Hmm it's an interesting idea though. |

I learnt about periods and a general overview of baby making at school when I was about 11 when we started middle school and then the school taught everything else when we were 12. Recently I was talking to my mum and she said how she couldn't remember how she gave me the sex talk. I looked at her blankly and just said "you didn't". |

Yeah I did. But I'm in UK where I can drink from 18 (17 atm). I'm from one of those families who do the whole "have half a glass of wine at about 10 then you wont go at and get smashed as soon as your old enough". Didn't really work though as my family has a lot of alcoholics and we would all get smashed at family functions. There is a major binge drink culture here though and I dont know anyone who has never drank. All my friends from the strict uptight families have all drank often with their parents. The idea of never drinking till you're 21 is just weird over here. |

I'm another very quite with people I don't know well and very loud with close friends (which is about 5 friends and my mum and sister) sort of person and I also apparently have a miserable relaxed face as I get told to smile a lot. The "smile!" thing has never really bothered me and generally when people say that I genuinly smile and think "oh thats nice they cared/noticed" unless I am actually peeved. The quite thing is fairly irritating though. And it's always hard to reply because, I am a quite person, not 'cos I feel particulally shy - I feel perfectly comfortable just staying in silence, but because cannot think of anything to say. I tend to say "Yeah I am..." Pleased to find other people like me! *edited to add* People who meet when I'm drunk (when I talk as much as normal people) always give me weird looks when they see me sober. I'm like too completely different people. Do any other quite people find this? |

This tread totally confused me until I checked wiki and found there is a different mothers day in the US (I'm in the UK). A while ago when it was Mothers Day in the UK, I brought a card that was blank on the inside and painted lot of flowers in it which my mum liked. My sister got her a bottle of cider, a piece of brie and a packet of rice cakes. My mother was absolutly delighted. Over the years me and my siblings have found our mother likes cheap things that mean something personally - you guys probably thought our gifts were a bit crap. |

I kinda had one once but it got so weird and awkward. Currently theres this guy who I'm not really friends with its just sex but I don't think its happened enough times to count of FWB. I agree with what someone (sorry can't remember who) said at the beginning about womens self estem. If mine was higher I don't think I would be willing to have casual sex and go of with whatever guy takes an interest in me. Although having said that I think my self estem has gone up, I know there are guys who find me physically attractive and it made me feel better. So yeah I think it can work. |

| Young Calorie Counters | i need help with my math. | Apr 16 2008 15:28 (UTC) |

Occording to one BMR calculator (they seem to vary) your BMR is about 1440. Assuming you actually burn about 1700 on days when you don't work out and you have a deficit of 500 cals a day (one gram of body fat divided by 7) you need to eat 1200 cals a day. On days you do work out you need to eat the calories your burning off, so about 2000 cals a day. Why are you diving the amount of calories the machine says you're burning in half? |

| Young Calorie Counters | Rant | Apr 15 2008 16:57 (UTC) |
|
Ohh I hate it when people tell you to suck it up, esp. when parents do it. I'm like "no I want to vent!" Oh well. Pleased that guy cheered you up though. My rant is really stupid: my boyfriend pulls weird faces. All the time. And its so irritating but I don't really want to complain about it 'cos it sounds pathetic. But OMG none the less. If he contributes in class he'll pull of face that says "well obviously" and it looks so weird! (Esp. when it's quantium behavior and clearly not obvious, damn physics). Also when he is talking about something that happened to him that was vaguely irritaing or upsetting, he screws up it face like it's the worst thing in the world and he needs sympathy imediatly. And again, it looks really weird. Actually the way he eats is irritating too. And the way he sighs. Maybe I shouldn't be with him anymore. /Rant. Wow this is a good tread. I like it. |

I love the smell of cigars and ciggarettes, esp. in smokey bars where smoke is mixed with alcohol and guys body spray. Love having that smell on my clothes the next day. I'm weird, but I'm happy being weird. I think I like the smell 'cos as a kid (like in a pram still) my parents would take me to their local and I grew up going to pubs on sunday afternoons. (My parents took me to the park first and we went to kid friendly pubs with play areas... but yeah I look back and think "wtf were you guys thinking!?"). I hate walking into pubs now and not smelling smoke and will often stand with the smokers outside. I don't smoke, incidently. |

Interesting racial analysis there. Real knife I tend to be attacted to well built guys, like tall, broad, got that thick neck thing and a lot of black guys I've met are built like that, I find myself mainly attacted to black guys. Or skinny asians... like the kinda nerdy look. I'm still in school and surrounded by white skinny teenage guys which may have effected who I find hot. Also, I've fooled around with more black guys than white guys and I have small boobs and a big butt. |

I only know one person like that as most of my friends are either chucky/ normal sized/ excersize a lot. But tbh this person looks too skinny and if I hadn't seen how much she eats I would have assumed she had an eating disorder or something. And she can't drink more than a two glasses of wine without being completely drunk. So it doesn't look that great being naturally skinny. Still totally jealous though. |

I was 14 and drunk and made out with this guy in the year above who I didn't know. And it went round school and for two days (gossip doesn't last long) people I didn't know kept coming up to me and saying "Omg did YOU get drunk and snog Tom!". I'm a geeky kid too so people were like wooooh! My best mates still find it highly amusing (they are 16 have havn't been kissed dispite one of them being really hot - she will kiss someone when she really likes them and they really like her. I like her way better). These threads are fun. |

Thanks for replying. I have no idea what I want to do and was worried about what jobs I could get without having done A Levels. I know I wont cope with uni so I'm thinking more career right now. Having calmed down a bit (I posted as soon as I got back from school and was very upset) I'm thinking of leaving and maybe going to a different college next september. I've managed to end up in tears in so many of my lessons that if I stay I'll end up doing something stupid (ex- self harmer here). So thanks lifeizsweet or making me feel not quite so useless and good luck brown_paper_bag! |
