For my answer of the QotW... It's really a bit of everything. I don't want to have to deal with any of the health complications that run in my family that can be prevented by having a healthy diet/weight. I also want to feel good in whatever I'm wearing. I'd also like to have a baby in the next 5 years, and I want to be in good health when that baby comes. I want to teach my family good eating habits. |

Congrats to everyone who lost in Jan 2008! Let's make this month even better! I was bad & didn't really keep track of a biggest loser for the month (or week), but we're all losers & proud of it! My weigh in on 2/1 was 197, which means no gain/no loss.
What is keeping you going strong? Health reasons, wanting to fit in that little black dress, or something else? |

Okay, here we go... If you are still confused after my post, you can send me a message & I'll try to help you out! :-) I put your info in on the Burn Meter tools and this is what it said... You should consume about 1550 calories a day to reach your goal weight of 143 lbs. Now, that's with your activity level at Light Activity, since you exercise daily. If you wanted to give yourself a calorie range, you'd be safe with 1400-1600 calories each day. You'll still lose that way, and your body won't go into starvation mode. Since you're eating 1400 calories a day, you'll be fine. You won't be starving & you will be losing weight. Hope this helps! |

Your BMR is 1566 (for your age, height, gender, and weight). Which means that you need a minimum of 1566 calories each day. So, aim for eating 1575 calories daily. Then, for your workouts, figure out how many calories your burning each day and figure out your deficit. Let's see if I can explain this right... BMR = 1566 Add those two up (1566 + 420) = 1986 Now, if you ate 1575 calories, you would subtract that from the 1986 we got with the last equation (1986-1575) = 411 That would make you lose approx. 1 lb a week. For weight loss, a 500 calorie a day deficit will result in approx. 1 lb a week loss. So, each day, take your BMR (1566) and add it to the # of calories you burn during your workout. Take that number and subtract the # of calories you eat. The resulting number should be between 500 and 1000 for healthy weight loss. Easy equation: BMR (1566) + Exercise = Calories Burned Deficit needs to be between 500 and 1000 for healthy weight loss. |

My original goal weight was 135, but I've decided on 155 and then assessing how I feel & look and possibly going lower. I did that because 135 was a "healthy" weight for my height, but after seeing my "after" photo from WeightView, 135 looked sooo small and 155 looked healthy, so I chose that one. :-) |

Sorry it took me so long to update the board this week! I have a bit of a crisis going on here at home. My car is on E, payday isn't until Thursday, and I might be losing my internet for a little while! Sooo, if I'm not able to update next week, go ahead and weigh in & I'll update as soon as possible. I did keep track of who lost what this time, and our Biggest Loser for the week was 2008orbust with a loss of 7 pounds! Also, jjlewis305 and mandimoore87 broke below the 200 mark!

Weigh In for 1/25 197 lbs I lost 4 lbs this week! I am so happy! I did bust my butt and did a lot of cardio this week, and strength training twice this week, so I deserve this. It feels so good to be out of the 200's finally and know that, no matter what, I'm never going back! I'll be back to update the boards a bit later once some more people have had time to weigh in. :-) |

Yay! We've got some interest! Now to answer those questions that have come up... 1) The only things that count as water are things that are not carbonated, so Diet Soda wouldn't count as water. 2) If you weigh everyday, then you just lose $2 a week. If you weighed 50 x weekly (lol extreme, I know!), then you'd just lose $2 a week. Another note, just to be sure it's understood... The "money" isn't real. You can always take that amount of money and put it away for a new outfit or whatnot, but I can't afford to send it out. :-( However, I will be making the certificate of recognition and emailing it you, and you can always print it out & frame it... as a reminder of how far you came. If we get enough interest in this, I'll do it each month. If not, then this will be the only month for it. I will also be keeping track of the "money" in everyone's bank so that everyone will know where they are as far as being the "Biggest Banker". Oh, and you don't have to post every day. You can keep track of it at home & then post it all at once on Fridays (or whatever day), but try to keep us updated once a week. Don't forget to add on the $1.50 each time you do post here though! :-) |

My answer for the QotW... I collect motivational pictures... photos of how I hope my body will look once I have reached my goal weight. I put one as my desktop background when I am working out, since my stationary bike is in the computer room and I don't have a screen saver set up. I can see it as I am doing my workout and it makes me push harder. I also listen to music as I workout, and I really love Nelly's song Heart of a Champion. There is also a YouTube video I watch when I wake up each morning that makes me workout when I don't want to... it's here. |

Here is an example of what a day's "deposits and withdrawals" will look like once we have this up and running... Friday 2/8 Water, 64 oz: +$4.00 Weighed twice this week, so -$2.00 Total for Friday 2/8 = $8.50 Total so far this month = $21.00 in the bank so far! :-) --------------------------------------------- ------ I hope this will help clear up any confusion. I'll also keep track of your total amounts on the top of the board to help you out. |

Thank you so much for posting that! I hurt my knee yesterday and the back of my right knee has been killing me all night. This morning, after some muscle rub overnight, it's fine. I told myself I would skip my workout for today & make up for it on Saturday (rest day), but after seeing that I will do it today! I've bookmarked it for inspiration in the future. |

| I workout in the mornings before eating (only drink water before and during workout). I do it because of my schedule, but I have heard that if you workout first thing in the morning and haven't eaten in several hours (i.e. overnight) then the weight will come off faster... how true this is, I'm not sure... I've only just started! | |||
