| Stretching helps with your range of motion. For me, it's a great way to wind down after a good workout. I'm not sure abotu the overall health benefits though. | |||

| Motivation | Who is YOUR cheerleading squad? | Feb 01 2008 01:32 (UTC) |
1 |
| I, unfortunately, do not have a cheerleading squad. I live alone, and my family lives about 350 miles away from me. Instead of having a cheer squad to keep me going, I'm fueled by my obsession with ballet en pointe. I started dancing ballet about five years ago, and as much as I would love to progress onto pointe, I'm too heavy for it. | |||

| Recipes | I hate fish | Jan 12 2008 15:41 (UTC) |
|
| I hate the eating fish as well. The only kind i can eat is canned tuna. I use some light mayo and chop up a few pickles to put in it, and I have some high fiber bread that I use to make sandwiches. I swap vanilla yogurt for mayo on the bread though. It's super yummy =] | |||

| I've never popped my own popcorn, I buy 94% fat free Act II popcorn. they sell them in mini 100 cal bags that are filling and convenient. Popcorn can be unhealthy when lots of butter and oil are used, but if you take those two ingredients away, it's a great snack. | |||

| I buy 94% fat free Act II popcorn. They sell it in regular and mini sized bags, the mini bags are filling and are only 100 calories. I also found some Act II kettle corn that is amazingly low in fat and calories. If you want ice cream, there's a brand called Skinny Cow that's pretty good. They make ice cream sandwiches and ice cream bars. | |||

| i used to make a lot of cheesecake, but it was so fattening, so i swapped the ingredients for lower-fat and low-cal alternatives, and its still as delicious as it was before. it helps that i'm bordering on being lactose intolerant, i dont eat as much b/c i know i'll make myself sick if i do =] | |||

| Vegetarian | Kosher Gelatin in Yogurt? | Dec 14 2007 03:40 (UTC) |

This doesn't have to do with the yogurt, but does anyone know if there's kosher jello cups? Or the mix? I've never seen it at grocery stores, and I don't eat pork (for religious reasons). It looks so yummy!
oh, fun fact. Altoids have gelatin in them. Who knew? hah (okay, I'm sure a lot of people know....I just felt kind of silly when I bought a pack and then found out they have gelatin in them) |

| I listen to everything...so I'm not too embarassed about any of my music. I do feel a little corny listening to some of the musicals I have on my Ipod though, like Newsies and The Lion King. I hated Hilary Duff for the longest time, but I love her music now. =] | |||

I'm such an animal lover! I have two dogs. Kiowa is a 20 month old Australian Shepard Akita mix. Bandit is 5 years old and he's a Rottweiler Shepard Chow mix. Both are pound puppies and they're soooooo loyal. I love them. I have two bearded dragons, Savage and Miguelito, and two fire-belly toads, Richard and Augy. Oh, and a cat named Jazz, but she only comes inside to sleep in the winter. She's more of an ally cat that just eats at my house and then leaves. |

| Young Calorie Counters | AP Classes | Dec 14 2007 01:58 (UTC) |

| The people before me are correct. Taking an AP class and passing the AP test with a score of 3 or better (for most colleges, not all) will get you out of the basic course in college. If you've passed all 14 tests by the time you graduate, then you'll definitely be getting college credit for those and graduating sooner (assuming the college you go to accepts all of those AP credits). | |||

| I used to do this all the time. I would eat when I got bored or eat when I was stressed. Now that I live alone and do my own grocery shopping, I don't buy any bad snacks or foods. I keep a lot of fruits n' veggies to snack on. I try to resist eating when I'm bored. I find things that keep my busy (that require the use of both of my hands, which leaves none free for eating). I've gotten pretty good at french braiding; I use that to keep me busy so I don't eat. | |||
| Motivation | Is it possible to get back into an excercise habit? | Dec 11 2007 20:17 (UTC) |
2 |
| I'm having some trouble getting back into my exercise routine as well. I hurt my hip in May and I haven't been able to dance since then. (Dancing is my favorite workout- I'm not a runner at all). You can definitely get back into it though. I just take things one day at a time and try my best to get a workout in, even if it's only 30 minutes. I try not to get down on myself when I miss a day or two, I let it go and focus on tomorrow. Biking is a good workout, I'm not sure if it makes up for running though. Maybe planning your day ahead of time will allow you to make time for you to run. That might help you stick to it. Goodluck! | |||

If there's a local community college near you, they sometimes offer dance classes. You could check there or a studio. I dont know if they sell tapes for it like they do yoga or anything like that. Hope you find something that works! |

I'm a dancer, but a hip injury has kept me from dancing since May. I started swimming over the summer, but its too cold so swim now. I started dancing again, and my legs are in amazing shape. Ballet is particularly great for keeping your legs toned and strong. If you aren't a fan of dancing, you can do squats and lunges. |

| Foods | Fiber One ideas | Dec 07 2007 00:28 (UTC) |

I don't know if you get the Hungry-girl e-mails, but they use Fiber One in a lot of their recipies. The ones that stand out in my mind are onion rings and pie crust. They grind the fiber one to make pie crust out of. For the onion rings, you cut an onion into rings. Grind the Fiber One to a bread-crumb like consistency. Then dip the onions into an egg-substitute (like egg beaters), and cover them with the fiber one, then bake them. I'm not sure how long or the temperature, just look up the hungry girl website. =] |

| I don't think you're wrong by wanting to improve yourself for someone else; however, I do agree with everyone else in that you should want to improve yourself mainly for you. Improving yourself for others can be extra motivation, which never hurts =] I'm trying to lose enough weight so I can attempt ballet en pointe, but I often think about how much more confident I'll feel when dating after I drop some pounds. =] | |||

Thanks Cetairla! I'm definitely gonna try those
Dyyla, You definitely aren't alone. I always want to eat more. I can eat all day and not feel satisfied. it's weird. I usually just eat mini healthy meals throughout the day and low-cal snacks in between to trick my mind into thinking that i'm eating more. Chocolate and ice cream are my two biggest weaknesses, but I found that Special K chocolate cereal is a good treat, and it helps me to not keep any chocolate or ice cream in the house. (i'm too lazy to get up and drive to the store to get it!) |
