Hey everyone!

Good info on the Diet Coke thing....

Humorpam--just like i mentioned before you can do this! WE are in together!  I'm proud of you for getting back on plan.

Tried solving the cookie dilemma, but looks like i will have to be bringing my own veggies to snack on when i go out to the folks.  The farm dog got another bag of cookies, and my co-workers a bag of cookies. Sigh!

Lost some of the "turkey" weight i gained.  down to 296.6 from 299.

new mini goal is 290 by end of December...

Have a good week everyone!

Yay!!! to slainna!!!! and Congrats to lbaxley! Good job!!!

alldolledup-hang in there! retaining water bites, i went thru it last week.  Try drinking lemon water...

humorpam-you will get to your goal, remember it takes small steps, which you have been doing.  One small pound at a time and you will get there!  May i ask how close are you to your goal of 300?   How about setting a mini goal for new years or valentines day, st pats day, easter, memorial day, flag day. you get my idea....you can and will do this girlfriend as you have the power within you!

bigmommah--so very sorry to hear about your father in law, and being sick, doesn't sound like you have had a good month.  Hopefully December will be a lot better for you.  Sending a great big girlfriend hug!  And way to get back on the wagon!

mightyaphrodite--welcome to the site! i've got over 100+ to lose, and yes it can be daunting, but remember you will feel so much better in the long run. You and are at about the same weight!  And just remember to tag this forum so you can find us easier next time.   I totally hear you when you say it can be more than a matter of will-power and sometimes stronger genetic forces (my mom).

devbanana- Don't ever apologize for being happy!!!! You rock girlfriend, Big hug and congrats on losing total so far of 20#.  Keep up the great work for the next 20#.

bigbeautifulangel--we are in the same boat together, i am hypothyroid, as well as type 2 diabetic and take the same medication you are on, metaformin as well as meds for the thyroid.  Losing weight can be done, it can be frustrating, but it is possible.  I have been as high as 385, and am now 296, the lowest i have seen in 7 years.  And have had to learn lessons about how diabetes works with my body, as well as the importance of eating healthy, and eating breakfast.  Had to make some life changes, but has been worth it.  please hang in there.

kellahhh--welcome!!  Congrats on doing something great for yourself! Because you are worth it!

And welcome everyone else i may have missed!  This past week i lost some of the weight i unfortunately gained over turkey day. back down to 296.4.   6.4 away from my mini goal.....

Hope everyone has a good week...here we had our first big snowstorm! Laughing

Kate--way to go!!!! proud of you for working out first thing in the am.  Good save on the gobbler for dinner!

I spent my black friday helping my husband work on our old car we are fixing up, in my parents very cold garage.  Think i burned calories just trying to stay warm!! ha!, going back there again on Saturday, tomorrow.

Anybody have ideas how to deal with a parent that likes to push the food all the time, most everytime you come to visit.   It has gotten to the point that she hands us a bag of cookies everytime we are out there!  They either get fed to the farm dog, (if we don't trust ourselves to leave them alone when we get them home)or given to co workers.   Today it was a bag of cookies, jar of turkey soup, container of cottage cheese jello salad. The last one she knows is my fav...sigh...help!  I know why she is doing it, it is how she shows her love to people....

Molly- read your post and i started drooling on the keyboard...ha!!! that all sounds so good.....anything with garlic...ooooohhhh, i am going to have to try that idea with the peppers...sounds very yummy...

devbanana--Congrats!!! to get to 235! that is totally awesome!!!Cool, isn't that great to know that you are gonna have to get new pants, bet your next ones are gonna have belt loops! ha!

alldolledup-- i am so glad you found out what it was that was happening that was causing the getting sick after the workouts....ya had me worried girlfriend!, with all your workouts, you are building muscle, remember that muscle weighs more than fat...., could be salt intake.....?

I'm up 3# the last couple days, as of Weds and i'm thinking it is the increased salt intake on some of the foods i've had or so i hope, will find out tomorrow....dang cornbread stuffing...etc.. plus all the dang baking like Julia Child crossed with Martha Stewart last few days, ugh...!!!

if there is sodium in anything with me it goes right where it shouldn't!!!!!Cry

tanya-yeah....glad to hear it! (loud clapping)

pattikins--hang in there, with the whole cravings thing, you can handle it!

Hope everyone has a great weekend....

Hey everyone!

Welcome to all the new people since i've been on.  I've been moving a bit slow due to a outpatient back procedure on the nerves in my back, two weeks in a row.

But i'm down to 295!!!!  Singing girl, woohoo!!! your dowwnnn!!!

Molly, girlfriend, you made your goal when i wasn't lookin!!! you rock!!!

ummgood, you can do it!!!! still remember to make good choices at Disney, the best you can...

tanyamoniq, not to be too sarcastic darlin, but my motivation and the kick in the butt would be the scary picture of myself in underwear on the refrigerator!

Or the other as pattkins is telling you is true.  I'm 39 and have osteoarthritis and spinal stenosis.  The first type of arthritis is wear and tear type.  So imagine what the weight is doing to your joints in your back, knees.   Trust me you do not want to go thru some of the procedures i've had to go thru in the last 4 years. So please take care of yourself!

Or do you have an outfit that you really want to get into? hang a pic of that, or some other goal you really want to do like after 20# get a manicure, you get the idea... remember girlfriend you can start over and you deserve to do this, you will feel better all the way around.  It takes baby steps, but lets do it, cause you are not alone!  The weight i've lost has helped take stress off of the joints.

alldolledup:  i'm glad to hear you are seeing a doc about this, as i'm wondering if you have probs with your esphogus or hiatal hernia, could be any number of things. I don't claim to know the answer... Are you just throwing up after your workouts?   Do you eat a heavy meal before working out, what type of workout are you doing?  Are you drinking enough water, not getting dehydrated? are you lactose intolerant?  Keep us all posted how you are doing....

Does everyone have a game plan for making it thru turkey day?Laughing

Ciao til later,

Annie

Hey Gang,

Just checking in, i know it's been i bit, i've been moving a bit slow.  I had a outpatient procedure done on the nerves of my back two weeks in a row that has set back my activity.  But i've still lost! down to 295!   Someone was mentioning being turned off by certain foods, this i can relate to!

Welcome to the new gals and remember you can and will do this for yourself because you deserve it.  Kiss

krismasself, great plan you have for turkey day!

Does everyone else have their turkey game plan ready?

Have a great day everyone!

Welcome momof2kt!  We are right around the same weight as well right now. I had the same problem with not eating breakfast, just wasn't hungry.  Had to have a doc wap me along the head with a two by four saying, my body needs some type of fuel.(since i'm also diabetic non insulin, and hypothyroidism), and that i would increase my chances of loosing weight better. It was one of my "ah duh" moments as i like to call them.  I do get hungry in a few hours, but i've got a snack planned out now!

pattikins--glad to hear the ekg came out alright.

lbaxley1048--don't be so hard on yourself! 2# is great loss, If your clothes fit great, use that measurement.  Heck I just got off of a long plateau where i was right in the same weight spot, had someone take my measurements, here i was loosing inches not the pounds.  So i figure my body had to catch up!  Keep up your great 'tude!

forgot to put in the last post, i weighed in today, i am officially out of the 300# class!!!!! woohooo!!!! cartwheels all around!!(if i could do one)might hurt something important...ha! anyway......  296.6!!!!! yesssss!

Next goal....275

lbaxleyl1048-   good job on the food choice!  And you are so right, you would have really felt yuck after all that grease.  So kudos to you and your fiance on making a good choice together!    I commend you on all your hard work at the gym, and your right make a person think twice about what you put in your mouth!!!  I am so proud of you right now!!!

Pattikins--- kudos to you as well for sticking to your own pizza!  You are all the better for it.  You are leading by example to your co workers even if you may not realize it!  12# way to go!!!!!  you rock!

singinggirl--as long as you get back on track is what matters!  That is great and "romantic" that bf and you are going for evening walks, your movin your groove thing honey!  Congrats on the lowest weight!

mollymouser--I hate dentists just as much as you do...good luck tomorrow!

To whomever is looking for an endo in the Mpls area,  I see Dr Thomas Smith at Woodbury Clinic, decent guy, explains things to you.  Makes sure that your tests are on scheduled time.  Haven't probs with him yet, I'm in my 1st year with him....

you are not the only one!  I had my thyroid removed this past year and am on replacement meds.  I had been having a really difficult time as well.   What i found some of my problem was, the starches i was taking in.  I was taking them in the later part of the day.  I tried getting most of them in earlier part of the day, so would not be heavy at supper.  It has made a difference, as i've been beginning to lose some weight again.

If you don't already, just for like a week or two keep track what and when you eat stuff.  Be honest with yourself, to see when you might be a bit heavier on the starches.....   I'll admit it, i'm a carb addict, and working on it.....

Keep in mind your thyroid is part of your metabolism, or was, not having it, changes your body....also take a look at any other medications you might be taking if they are interacting....or vitamins....just another thought....

Hang in there!

it means you are hypo thyroid.  i am as well, i also had thyroid cancer and no longer have a thyroid so am on the medication.  It takes some time to tweak the right dose, but once the right dose is found, you will feel so much better, and feel back on track so to speak....and i highly recommend getting a referal to a endocrinelogist, one that specializes in this, don't mess around with your regular doc, as much as he may seem to know....and also learn all you can on your own about being hypothyroid..   The about site has a lot of good info from Mary Shormon? has great columns.....be a informed an knowledgeable patient.

The higher the number the more you are hypo.......also check to see if they are following the new guideline numbers for TSH....it is on Mary's site.....

Good luck!!!!Wink
