Melinska

I'm totally with you on your comments...I've learned to stay clear of all the "goodies & gunk", I don't buy it. My husband is the major problem because he too is an emotional eater & a boredom eater and he has no problems going grocery shopping and bring home tons of sh#t. I've asked him to stop and he does for a while and then it creeps back in. He is about 100 lbs over weight and extremely sedentary....loves his tv, dvd's & the computer. He's hard to get motivated.AGGGGHHHHHH. I've just been doing my thing with the kids andd if he wants to join us he does....his loss. I just hate being married to someone I absolutely love that doesn't like to do anything. He's definately changed a lot, he use to enjoy doing so much...Sorry I'm rambling on...just gotta get it out once in a while makes me feel a bit better.

Anyway the way I treat myself to a something bad is to keep single serve dark chocolate or some single serve all natural fudge pops or ice cream.

Have a good one

Melinska, I know what you mean about ravenous...which is really making me nervous for tomorrow...hopefully I will have a loss and not a gain. Oh the joys of being a women...at least we don't sit on our balls when we get old!!!! hahahah...i needed a good laugh!

khkvd I try to stop eating by 7:30 and if i am a few hundred calories off I either take them as a bonus for some extra weigh loss or as a bonus to have a little extra on another day. This worked really well for me when I was sticking to counting. If I was hungry and it bothered me at night i would eat something like an apple, orange, celery and humus, or some almonds.

 Melinska,

I like your thought of working together it's a good motivator...keeps you honest to yourself and puts a bit of competition to keep the fire burning under our butts! We should do weekly weigh ins...forgot that idea how about we weigh in today & then post on Fridays?

I'm a Mom of 3 awesome kids, 11,9,&7. I've been forever trying to lose weight. I lost a bunch using CC and have kind of drifted away over the past 6 months or so. I put back on about 5lbs. I have not returned to my old ways,  but I have not been as careful as I was when I was using CC daily. So I've been back to mentally counting & when I recieved news of my sisters surprise wedding, & realised how close summer is ...I must get my rear in gear!

Ippo,

Let me tell you how relieved I was to read your story, a truly great and inspirational one. I have been cc-ing since the end of October and I have lost 34 so far. I am really intrigued by your story on the behalf of my husband. He is about 75-100 lbs overweight and I feel like we (me and our three kids) are losing him. I am going  to share your letter with him because I have a feeling it will hit home for him and hopefully realise that he is getting lost in the ugliness of being overweight. I am not talking about the cosmetic side of it but the ugliness we feel inside when we don't feel free and healthy. The ugliness we feel when we look in the mirror and are not happy with what we see because "that is not me", the ugliness we feel when we can not run around with our children or go to the beach and swim or ski down a mountain because you can not bend over easily or you get winded too easily. The ugliness we feel because we don't want to try new things because of the being over weight.

You and your mom deserve a huge hug of thanks. She probably felt really bad about what she said and it was probably on her mind for a long time before she saying anything to you but she went out on a limb for her child and look what she has done, the trickle down effect will affect many peoples lives.

And with that I thank you and your mom.

Count me in! I definitely have more then 10-15 lbs to lose but it is a healthy loss rate and a good goal. I will be going to Florida to see my sister in April and would definitely like to be under 200. I am 216 now and have lost 32 so far. I have not seen my sis since July (she is very fit), she does not know that I've been losing weight, and I really want to surprise her.

This week I will walk and , least five days. I will also not eat anything after 7:30 pm and track my calories everyday. I stopped counting calories everyday after Thanksgiving, I've still been losing but I feel like  I have not been eating as healthy or losing as much as I should (2 lbs a week).

When my daughter with thick long hair danced, I would make two "pig tails" high up on her head and then I would make them into buns. It's a little funky ...I think we could all use a little funky in our lives!!!!!! It works best either dirty or just out of the shower! I think the two buns vs one will be easier on your head too, less weight of the bun pulling your hair.

I've only been doing cc for about a month and my son has definitely lost a few lbs. He is 10 and is really starting to understand the entire concept of good eating and health, which I'm so relieved about because I thought we were all going to the deep end. CoolI asked him to show me his belly and back and i could really see a difference in his love handles. I am so proud of him. Now if I could get my skinny minny 6 year old to understand that vegetables are our friends and they want us to eat them, I would feel even better! Tongue out My 8 yr old is very athletic and she is starting to understand that junk food is not a long lasting fuel. The husband is a another issue, but I'm starting to see signs, so I'm hopeful. I am really hoping my Mom will start making better choices too, she is so unhealthy and I hate to see her like that.

I also have proposed a calorie counting study/project for my children's health classes and their teacher loved the idea. And according to the school nurse she said that NY State will require school nurses to measure BMI on all kids next year.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, it is great to talk with people outside the family about this.

Over the summer, we did have a very serious talk, after a few not so serious talks, and i told him much of what Bombshell suggested. I said that he is missing out on so much and that I'm tired of watching him waste his life away and that I will be doing what me & the kids want to do. I informed him that I was over holding myself back and the kids because he has chosen not to do anything to better himself. He definitely has depression issues and he brought it up to his dr. years ago, tried so meds that he had a reaction to & that was the end of that. I have suggested that he goes to therapy to work out his issues. I also informed him that I am 100% behind him when he choices to help himself.

I am trying so hard not to let him drag me and the kids down anymore and hopefully he will wakeup. I hope that the love of my life will realise what he has.

I will call him in the morning after the kids get on the bus, while he is driving to work, and ask him what he would like for dinner, 99% of the time his reply is I can't think about dinner right now, I'm not even hungry. Or i'll ask the night before, same answer. Sometimes as a family we will make a menu for the week to come, makes shopping so much easier, the kids usually come up with some good ones, his answer is usually tacos or I can't think that far. I am on the verge of not caring any more about what he wants to eat, that's his choice and he is making things for me and the kids a bit too difficult. I will continue to make foods that we all like and if he eats, he eats. I really enjoy having dinner with my kids and husband and now that the kids are gettting older it will start to get tougher and tougher to keep them in for dinner. He is setting the perfect example, that it's ok to skip family dinner time.

I'm trying my best not to nag him, and I've found myself just giving him a look, which I know I shouldn't do either. I hope he does wake up soon, I don't like doing all the things we use to do together by myself. I want him to be healthy and happy.

I cook practically every-night, chicken, fish, steak, rice, potato, pasta, veggies, etc. If he isn't in the mood for what I cook or really doesn't enjoy what's on the menu he will go to the store and buy something for himself.

If you like vodka and pears here is a really tasty low calorie one. I bought myself a bottle of Grey Goose pear flavored vodka over the summer and opened it up a few weeks ago after I started CC. You can actually taste the pear, i tried it on the rocks...a bit too strong, so I added seltzer. When i read your post i thought raspberry flavored seltzer would be good too. I like the premixing idea, good way to stay in control!!!

To be healthy and grow with my children, instead of looking at them from the coach, why should they have all the fun!!!To be able to play with my kids and not get winded! A life long dream of surfing, I know I could do it if I try, but all the bulges and thunder thighs have kept me out of the water. I also want to row, skulling, that's always been a dream of mine, afraid I might sink the boat. To put a bathing suit on and not be embarrassed because I'm wearing a suit my grandma wouldn't even wear.
