if you haven't physically done anything to your toe, its most probably not broken. It's more likely that you bruised your nail and now its all purple and painful. I've had this in both big toes because of tight shoes.

It depends on how he does it. My boyfriend does it just to tease me (in a nice way) and I laugh along with it. I think if I got pissed off about it, that's when he'd become more mean about stuff like that. If you're boyfriend is actually leering at these women (whether friends, other girls or celebrities) then I think it's time to dump him ;p

How about something like brie or camembert without the 'skin'? they're both really creamy already, so i guess when melting it should be even creamier :)

I've always loved the name Danaë (pronounced Da-na-ee) which is a Greek name. My mom was going to call me this but at my dad's begging, they named me after my grandma - Katerina.

I like both names :)

Weight Loss Determining Frame Size Jan 29 2009

I personally think that the frame size is very inaccurate. I'm of a medium build as I am quite tall but not of the tallest or biggest people that I know, yet I am not petite either. Nevertheless, my fingers do overlap on both my wrists, only because my wrists are tiny!

been using Chrome since it came out and it's great! I agree with another previous post - Adblock would be awesome to have!!

Health & Support Lost Tampon Problem! Sep 06 2008

my advice is to go see a doctor and get a test to see whether you have a bladder infection or even a vaginal infection, which can go away with antibiotics. You don't want to have consequences because it seems as if that tampon was in for a looong time (and thankfully you didn't get toxic shock syndrome as someone mentioned above).

hope this helps!

Weight Loss Mediterranean Diet Jul 24 2008

Extra virgin is the best :) I bought virgin once and i hated the taste of it! Then my parents came to visit and bought me a huge tub of extra virgin Greek olive oil (I'm Greek btw ;p). It has such a different taste than any other oil and I can't think of anything I would switch it with. For example, my mom usually uses sunflower oil to make popcorn, but I use olive oil, just because I like it.

I guess the whole canola oil or other oil switch would be because it has slightly less calories and is less dense overall than olive oil. Loads of research has gone into it and has shown that olive oil actually is really really good for you. I guess if you watch your calories it's worth the better taste (and health benefits!) in the end.

About the spout thing.. I get the same! I've been looking everywhere for a food safe spray bottle to put my oil in so I get less whenever I use it :(

Good luck!

Among the usual healthy foods (fruit, veggies, fish etc) the diet also contains... *drum roll*

OLIVE OIL. It's the Mediterranean staple. Put it on your salads, cook with it, fry with it, etc. (Watch your calories though, it can be easy to over do olive oil.. as I have found out ;p)

Fitness Better to eat before or after? Jul 23 2008
12:04 (UTC)
12

It depends really on the person. I tend to eat after I workout because eating before makes me nauseous, just like you. Some people eat only a small snack before workout to boost their energy which may be beneficial in the morning seeing as you need something to keep you going. Perhaps you can try eating something small and then waiting for about an hour or so until the food has digested. I doubt it makes a difference eating before or after a workout, it's really a matter of choice.

Hope this helps!

Health & Support Except for pregnant women, why do people say they "crave" a food when they really just want the taste of it? Jul 19 2008
16:18 (UTC)
13

I've read somewhere that it's a body response to whatever's missing. So for example if your blood sugar is low, you may crave donuts or something similar. Personally I believe it's mental cravings rather than real. Happens mostly when you cut out foods and then just feel the 'need' to eat because it's forbidden.

Pregnancy & Parenting constipation Jul 19 2008
16:09 (UTC)

Can't really answer about the alcohol, I doubt it did harm. Many women continue to drink throughout their pregnancy and their babies are fine (I'm not endorsing it though!).

About the constipation - it's completely normal during pregnancy. There are loads of different changes going on in your body during pregnancy which tends to reduce the motility of your gut causing you to not go as often as you would like. My advice is to keep eating healthily with plenty of fibre and if it really gets too bad for you, just go see your doctor.

Hope this helps!

I fluently speak Greek and English, and I used to fluently speak German, Dutch, French and Arabic. I stopped speaking them after I left school and never got to practice again. I can pretty much understand French and German and pretty much converse in basic Dutch, but no more Arabic for me, except for a couple of words!

The only thing that happens is that your appetite changes. Weight gain will only happen if you don't take care of your calorie intake and just eat all day :p

I've been on Yasmin for about 5 months now and I haven't noticed any weight gain at all.

The Lounge Hair dye gone bad Jul 05 2008
18:20 (UTC)

Thanks guys for all the help! I took most people's advice and decided to opt against re-doing my hair myself, because I love it so much! To answer some people's questions - it wasn't really much the colour of the highlights, but more so the fact that they came out splodgy in different places, even though I did smooth out the highlighting cream.

I booked an appointment for Monday at the hair salon and they'll fix it for me by redoing some of the highlights and just filling in the blanks basically. They told me my hair's in pretty good condition (they did some test.. don't know what kind) so it shouldn't be damaged much further.

Thanks again for the help!

Health & Support Weird taste in mouth? Jul 04 2008
11:25 (UTC)

You could have what's called tonsilloliths - little pieces of calcified foods stuck in your throat. They're not harmful but they can cause bad breath and a weird taste in the mouth, even if you do brush your teeth. I knew two people who had them and they mentioned the same symptoms as you're having. Go to the doc and make him/her check out the back of your throat, you may have something stuck there.

Good luck!

Health & Support Green Tea vs. White Tea Jul 04 2008

Original Post by katy_doll:

White tea is actually just a certain bud of the green tea bush.

Hope this helps.

Actually white tea is just purer green tea, as mini_mary stated above. But katy_doll you were right in mentioning about the buds, as white tea is a mix of buds and leaves while green tea is only leaves.

All teas come from the Camilla sinensis bush and they're oxidised for different times. White tea is 'better' for you in a sense because it's a step before green tea; however, it's super expensive. I think in general you'll get loads of health benefits just by drinking green tea and not spending too much money!

Check out the Wikipedia article on tea here.

The Lounge Ladies - get your boobs measured! Jul 02 2008
22:27 (UTC)

The lady at the store told me these tips

1. When trying on a bra, close the strap at the outermost hook. That way when the bra stretches due to wear and tear, you can just move it up a hook or two

2. Make sure the front of the strap is snug against your chest. If the chest size smaller than the one you tried is too tight, then that means you need to go up one more chest size and make sure you have the right cup. If it still has a space in between your chest and the bra, it means the cup is too small and your boobs are pushing against the bra and creating that gap.

3. Put your fingers on the underwire and push towards your back - if your fingers touch your ribs then its a good fit, if they touch your boob.. not good.

4. Make sure that you don't have 6 boobs as teeshah mentioned above. A good fit gives you excellent cleavage and gives you really good support.

What store did you get yours measured at? The trouble is I can never find the 34 D's they always recommend me. I guess they only think D's are for 36+ women.

and I wouldn't be surprised to find out I am also a 32 E.

I got measured at La Senza, but I live in the UK so I don't know if you guys have it over in the US. But I think most lingerie stores do fittings; make sure you ask them and they're usually really helpful!

Foods Milk - seeking advice on skim versus 2% Jul 01 2008
06:20 (UTC)

If you like the taste and don't mind the extra bit of calories per day, go for the 2%. Personally I've gotten used to the 0% and it has the exact same nutrients as full fat milk (I've looked at the list!) but without the extra fat.

For all those with lactose intolerance - try finding milk without lactose, it exists! My friend has lactose intolerance and buys lactose free milk and she says it tastes wonderful. Here in the UK I haven't seen fresh lactose free milk, but she comes from Finland and says you can find fresh milk there.

I say sell it. It'll stop other people who were going to eventually buy leather from buying leather clothes and thus killing more animals. It won't make much of a difference, but it's something :)
