Howdy Y'all! Just wanted to check in and read up a little on you guys. I've been enjoying my "maternity leave" from my food issues. I just let the baby dictate what we're eating. I can't eat fruit at all because it upsets my stomach... BAD. Just one piece of fruit and I'm messed up for a couple of days. Veggies are still great and plenty of carbs of course. I'm making it through though! Good news is Hubby returns home from Korea in 5 weeks!! WOOHOO. It seems like the L O N G E S T year of my life. I've got to get the kiddos into bed now, I just wanted to send a hello out to all of your G4Gers and see what's happening!

Thanks everyone! No names picked, we usually wait til after an ultrasound to start the name game. Things seem more "real" at that point. While hubby was home I had him eating what I was eating and he actually liked most of it. (would have nothing to do with my Boca burger tho!!)lol. In the 6 weeks he was here he lost over 10 pounds and an inch off his waist, which is crazy considering he was only 165 and size 32 in waist to start with. He left at 154 and an easy fitting 31. He was so excited he said he'd continue on while in Korea and he was going to get his cholesterol rechecked next week because 2 months ago it was 226. Woohoo! I think that these changes I've made since October are actually going to stick this time! I'll be lurking quite a bit and will try to post more frequently. I haven't even had time to lurk for the past 6 weeks so I'm sorry for missing out on cannons firing and awarded trophies and ups and downs for everyone.

Hello to my wonderful G4Gers! My hubby just left last night to return to Korea for 4 1/2 more months apart. I think this is harder than when he left the first time! We had a great visit that was quite eventful... A new house, a missing gallbladder and ahhhhh... yes, last but not least... a new baby on the way! That's right, lose 45 lbs and then this... I'll stay on track and eat my lovely 2400 calories a day of good healthy food and minimize my post partum recovery by not gaining 40 lbs this time!! I will check in now and then on this thread, but will be switching to the "preggers" thread for the time being. Send a PM because I'll still be on here daily to keep track on my eating because it will be hard for me to eat enough for the first little bit. So do I get canon blasts and big cheers for every 5 pounds I gain now that I'm Going4Gold backwards??? LOL Really it should be canon blasts and cheers if I can keep the gaining UNDER 25 lbs by the end. That's my new goal for 2008, to go no higher than 190! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!!! |

Good morning G4Gers, I've had a busy week (and month too) that all came to a climax yesterday with my Gallbladder being removed. It went so well and I'm feeling better than I expected less than 24 hrs post op. Hubby is keeping the kids occupied and away from me so I can rest and recover faster. I just wanted to update you all. My husband is here for 2 more weeks, they extended his time here to allow him to take care of our oldest since I can't lift her. So instead of 3 1/2 weeks we get him for 6!! Woohoo! Everyone take care! |

Great Thursday morning G4Gers!!! I've had a L O N G couple of weeks with moving and stuff. My hubby is home for his 3 week break (12 days left) and we are LOVING that. Just wanted to post an update and ask for some prayers. During the move I decided to eat some yummy foods, spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and chicken fettucini alfredo to name a couple, but this led to a not so good discovery. My weight loss journey has brought me another not so welcomed gift.... Gallstones!! UGH! Ended up in the emergency room and now I'm going for a surgery consult this morning to say goodbye to my Gallbladder. Pray for me!! I wonder how much my gallbladder weighs.... Hmmmm? lol All right... miss you ladies and hope you are all doing great. Please pray for me and my pain and upcoming surgery. I've been on a nearly completely fat free diet for 6 days now to keep my gallbladder happy. Living on about 5-10 g of fat a day is HARD to do. In about 2 more weeks I'll be back to "normal" and hubby will be gone and I'll catch up with everyone. |

Hi Gang... I've been away for a while and quite busy. I felt like I needed to separate from my computer for a little while to take care of packing and children. I still have LOTS of packing to do (it's hard to do all by myself!). My husband will be home for 3 weeks on Mar 21 and we get the keys to our new house on Mar 24. So very little time to spend with him because we'll be getting stuff packed and moved out all weekend. What a nice Easter present we will get this year!! We are all excited. Then he will have to go back for 5 more months... that stinks. On the weight loss note (since that's what we're all here for! On a second note... I have now lost 40 pounds! I'm at 168.2 as of this morning. Haven't seen the 160's in over 10 years!!! woohoo Molly, so sorry to hear about your heart/workout issues! That must have been scary for you. I've been gone for a while but just saw someone mention that you are off insulin... WONDERFUL!!! That is such a huge thing. Love it!! Everyone else in G4G hope you are doing great... lots of new names up there, gotta love that! I don't get on the thread much anymore but I get on my account every couple of days to post things and make sure I'm on track, send me a PM anytime. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | When did you move your child from a crib to a bed? | Feb 28 2008 15:17 (UTC) |
6 |
| All 3 of my kids were out of their cribs by 18 months for safety reason like previously talked about. My oldest went to a mattress on the floor for 6 months, then a full sized bed w/ railing because she moves A LOT while sleeping. My second went to a twin with railings and the foam puzzle mats on the floor all along her bed because she moves but was coordinated enough to handle herself on the higher bed. My youngest went to a twin with railing only and no foam mats since he doesn't move much when he sleeps we never had a problem. SO, basically it depends upon the child. Go with your gut. It never hurts to start out with the mattress on the floor and if they have no incidents move it up with the railing and mats, whatever you are comfortable with. | |||

Hello to all G4Gers!! I don't have time to go back and read all of the past posts from this week but wanted to check in and say I had a nice week with my parents. I didn't count cals a single day while they were here and probably just broke even at maintenance level for the week. I don't feel like I gained real weight although I can tell that I'm bloated from not eating the greatest for a whole week. I will weigh myself in the morning just to see where I'm at since I haven't weighed in 8 days. Then I'll go back into "detox" mode (LOL). Gotta get this junk outta me because I feel ICKY!!! I can't believe that as bad as I ate this week I used to eat worse than that every single day!! YUCK!!!!! I hope you are all doing great and had progress in goals this week. I made some "to die for" strawberries this week... HUGE long stemmed strawberries that I filled with some cheesecake (cut out the center with a paring knife) and dipped in white then milk chocolate. Can I get a YUM!! I only ate 1 and was extremely proud of myself because I made 24!! It was SO good though. I need to go get the kids into bed, but wanted to get on while I had a free moment. I'll post my weight next week after I feel normal again! LOL |

| If you are open to Splenda you could always use the Splenda "Baking Blend" which has a much better taste than straight splenda. Use 3 egg whites instead of 2 whole eggs. Use a light margarine and that's about all you can do to help this out since there's already no oil in it. Maybe you could use a blend of whole wheat flour and all purpose flour. I wouldn't use all wheat unless you don't mind a more dry dense muffin. | |||

Good morning all! Got up and started cleaning, now I'm about to clean myself up and get more done preparing for my company tomorrow. As I've played with my calorie intake over the past 2 weeks I have noticed that about 1450 is the "magic" average number for at this particular point in time. If I eat less than that I don't lose at all. I eat between 1350 and 1550 everyday to come out with a good average through the week. I find that I eat more on the day after I have done a lot of work. I'm glad I finally found what works for my body for right now (probably will change as I get smaller but I'll adjust as needed). Forks...Looks like you have great goals for the year. Did you take a full body picture of yourself in Jan to be able to compare it to a new picture next Jan? My mom did that last year and forgot about the picture until last week, when she found it she was pleasantly surprised! She had lost about 20 pounds over the year and saw the difference in the picture that she didn't notice as the year was going by. 4sq... So glad you are on the downward slope again. A good motivation booster! RG... I'm stressed just listening to what you have to deal with... You have crazy energy!! (off topic, if there is such a thing on here!!) On top of other stuff I'm overwhelmed with right now I have a little (BIG) problem that maybe someone can give me advice on. My laptop crashed last weekend and I'm going to have to do a complete system restore. I had my photography business for about 6 months and had all of my information on that laptop but forgot to back it up since I was doing it for such a short time it didn't really occur to me that I should. ANYWAY... Now I'm facing the fact that I may have just lost ALL of my accounting information that was stored on there. I'll find out Monday when I get it restored but if it is all gone do any of you have any ideas on what to do? Unfortunately I was dumb and did everything on my software, invoices and all and I didn't keep hard copies because I'm an idiot as previously described. When I moved in August I closed the business because I can't do it while DH is gone anyway. ANY ADVICE?? I feel like such a dummy because I have backed up literally everything else right down to pictures and word doc.s, but NOT my own business info... STUPID STUPID STUPID!!! |

Ok, I'll start with my monthly numbers for Jan: Fat - 24.5% (687 grams) I had some pretty high fat days spread out through the month but it all worked out ok. Here's my weekly weigh in: Last week 176.8 I was up ALL night with my 2 yo throwing up now so I'm pretty tired (6 am here). I'm going to lay back on the couch for a bit but wanted to do this while he was quiet. I'll check back later! |

Fat - 14.4% (22 grams) Cals: 1316 (still thinking of a snack to get me up to 1400) Had a good day overall: 6:30 am 3 pieces of toast w/ butter spray; special K vanilla crunch bar; an orange 9:30 am garlic chicken and spinach wrap; 5 baby carrots; granola bar 1:00 pm PB2 and apple jelly sandwich; gala apple; 3 reduced fat oreos 4:30 pm Roasted chicken breast; 1 cup of steamed broccoli; baked red potato 7:30 pm (need to fill in a 100-150 calorie snack here, possibly a cup of pudding) Without the 7:30 mystery snack I'm at 1316 and an A- for the day. |

*Dances around the living room singing with 4sq* WAY TO GO!!! I LOVE getting down to that next "10" too. Very very excited for you. Forks... Unfortunately I haven't gone for walks since before my daughter got sick (2 weeks ago) but I have played out in the backyard with the kids and did some raking and went shopping, so I was out for a little here and there. It seems a big part of my problem was I didn't eat enough the first few days because I was fighting all of those hunger pains. I know that if I actually feel hungry I need to eat because my body has adjusted well enough to tell me when it actually NEEDS food. Now I've bumped my cals for a couple of days and I'm feeling great today. Got 6 boxes packed and moved out to the garage already and it's only noon!! WOOHOO Blondee... LOVE that baby!! She is GORGEOUS! Makes me wish for another one myself.... Hmmmm... nope the moment passed! LOL 3 is enough for me right now! Really though, glad you joined us on this thread and you have a beautiful family. We've been missing the other Tam for a couple of days (I think, unless I just missed her posts). *Yoo HoOOooOOoOOo... Tamee... are you there?* Molly... There is something about your "grumpy" attitudes that aren't so grumpy to all of us!! lol I've seen grumpy and Honey.... That aint you! Boots... Did you get shoes yesterday?? What kind did you end up with? Not sure if you posted this already and I missed it on the previous page.. sorry if I did! Glad to hear your workouts are going so great! It's nice when you start to feel stronger and more able, very encouraging! I can't wait until my husband returns in Sept so I can start going to the gym. He said that once we're all settled again that he'll join one with me and we'll go together. I'll probably join 24/7 because they have a child care center. I'm having a great day today...SO FAR! I'm eating a mini meal every 3 hours which seems to be the key for me. I am seriously considering getting a treadmill with our tax return money. I would love to start jogging and it's either get a treadmill or buy a jogging stroller... any opinions??? I know the stroller would be cheaper. BUT, summers in Vegas can be H O T. I'm talking close to 120 degrees. Not exactly walking weather. I'm going to eat now, I'll check with ya later!!! |

Wow Forks... You'd think we were the same person today. PMS tasted good in my house as well, I wasn't going to fight it today. Why does it have to last 10 days every month for me (just the pre part is 10 days....) Started out great: Kashi Golean with light silk; a gala apple; 2 pieces of toast w/ butter spray a Boca Burger AND a turkey hot dog AND a chocolate peanut butter granola bar for lunch at 10 AM!!!! getting worse now.... 1/2 piece of pepperoni pizzeria pizza; 1 crispy taco and 2 churros (that's 2 in case you missed that number) all of this by 3PM!!! SOOOOO..... by 4 I was wanting more to eat so I grabbed a handful of baby carrots and crunched away for a while then drank a HUGE cup of water. Now I plan on eating an orange as my evening snack (if I can even make myself eat it now, I'm feeling pretty gross) Through ALL of this (and I logged every little bit) I still got a B+ for the day!! I love to see that everyone is talking so much today. I have missed it all since I was EATING so much and also was out shopping and basically moping around the house wondering why I have this horrible urge to eat constantly!!! Quick, someone slap me back into reality!! I have a feeling the stress is slowly getting to me... I need to take a day when my parents are here and just sit in a quiet (padded) room and stare at the walls. OR I could go shopping with my mom while my dad watches the kids....... I think I"ll go with the shopping I won't be on the computer much next week, think of me shopping and know I'm in a much better place. LOL Lots of new members coming every day that I'm going to have to catch up with when I've got more time. It may be a couple of weeks though because my grandmother is coming 5 days after my parents leave. |

2BB... LOVE your story!!! My daughter is 12 yrs old and I have to tell you that we have never stopped praying for that same miracle for her. I know that God is so Awesome and so much bigger than our brains can ever imagine and it's SO wonderful to hear a story to remind me of that. WOOHOOO for 2BB!!! How inspirational. Forks... I have to say that PJ's are SOOOOO comfy and I wear my house shoes all the time too. Not to the store or anything like that, but I do wear them every other moment of the day... my feet like being free to breath!!! lol Boots... YAY for all of your progress!!!! That is so great that your trainer has already noticed results! Soupy (since that name seems to have stuck with us)... WELCOME!! 4sq... I would love to be able to exercise the way you do though. That is worth a whole lot while getting healthy!! |

Howdy!! I love reading all of the posts at the end of the day while I eat my dinner, my relaxation time! WOW, 2BB, you did some typing today. Is typing listed in the activities for calorie burning??? Forks, how'd your walk go with your daughter? 4sq, I hope that you can break through this soon because you have been doing so great! Maybe your body was just needing a break from the "iron woman" routine cause you've been exercising so great. I'm so lazy RG, I'll be praying for you and all the chocolate loving stress you'll be dealing with!! Get some Ghirardelli extra dark chocolate squares and have one when you feel the need... it's good medicine!! I know there were so many other postings I wanted to re: to but I can't see them now and my computer is on it's virtual last leg. I'm trying to weigh getting it fixed and just buying a new one. Had a good day today, feeling SORE!! I raked my yard today, I haven't raked in 10 years!!! Yes, it's winter and in most places I'd be shovelling, but here in the desert, we're just raking! Calories: 1393 I don't post all of the nutrition info anymore because I have found that when I try to copy and open multiple windows it makes my browser have an error and shut down. Gotta love technology! On a very good note, I met my next mini goal ahead of schedule. I wanted to get to 175 by Feb 2 and I'm 175.9 as of today, 3 days ahead of my "master plan" moowaaahhahahahaha. Next mini goal was set for 165 by spring break week in the end of March. That's 10 pounds in 7 weeks. Things are slowing down for me and I'm glad I thought of that when I was setting my mini goals. I made them increasingly farther apart. I have also adjusted my end goal after talking to my mom about it for a while. I had it at 130 and the only time I've ever been 130 is when I was 18. Otherwise 140 is a comfy weight for me and is easy to maintain. Therefore I set my end goal at 145 which is the highest number officially out of the overweight category for me, but if I lose a little more after that while I figure out what maintenance is then it will be great too. SO, 33 down, 30 to go.... YAY TO HALF WAY! Hope you all have a great night!!!! |

Calories in: 1408 Fat - 38.4% (65 grams) Hi Everyone! I hope RG is doing good with the packing, I could use your energy here in my house to help me pack!!!! I've been *lurking* today in between packing and cleaning and grocery shopping and schooling. Now I'm fully stuffed and satisfied thanks to MOLLY!!! I ordered the shiratake noodles from www.miraclenoodles.com and have to say they are quite a wonderful product!! The first couple of bites were weird because they had no taste other than the sauce the tomatoes they were mixed with and the texture was different from regular pasta. Not bad... just different and took a few bites to really get used to. Anyway, I ate a bag on those noodles with italian seasoned stewed tomatoes and 1/2 of a roasted garlic chicken breast and I AM STUFFED!! I think I'm going to LOVE having these noodles. I might have to order some of the "rice" substitute they make... Have you tried those yet Molly? Here is my day: Breakfast: Snack: Lunch: Snack: Dinner: Treat:
Horrible day for nutrition, but didn't do too terrible for cals. Got 3 boxes packed up and moved to the garage and I'm hoping to get a few more done before bedtime. Now I'll get that done and go back to *lurking* with 2BB!!

Hi everyone! caught up on reading, Sundays are always pretty quiet on here for out group so I didn't miss much. I agree w/ Skye about the junk food. I eat a couple of reduced fat oreos every day. I work it in to my day and don't eat the whole bag in one sitting! Calories today: 1336 I have run out of fresh fruits and veggies but decided to wait until tomorrow to go shopping so I wouldn't have a wheelchair and a shopping cart to deal with. My grades will go back up starting tomorrow. I miss my fruits!!! All I have is a few oranges left and half of a sweet potato. I may try some radishes as previously posted about. I would like to try an artichoke, but have NO CLUE what I would do with it. Don't know how to even begin to prepare it. Any good squash recipes you guys can post links to or just paste into here for me? Ok, my 7yo wants me to play a board game with her so I guess I'll go be a mom for a little while again!

I missed a lot in a day and a half! Just caught up on reading. I had an outside day yesterday with the kids, we went to an awesome park for a couple of hours and then all went to eat lunch at McD's (kid's choice day). It was nice!! Great Job on that brownie Forks! I don't think I could have been so strong when faced with a brownie. That is my weakness, I could eat a whole pan!!! I missed a kinds of conversations! I think some of you already know this, but I also homeschool. We love it and it's teaching me just as much as it's teaching her! 4sq... please don't get discouraged!! You are working out so much and adding muscle which totally out weighs fat and makes it look like you aren't losing. You are doing a great job, continue on and you'll see the numbers again. Play with your calories until you feel good about them, but continue the exercise. You've been an exercise machine!!! With eating McD's yesterday and other not great things... I ended upeating 1598 for the day with a HUGE 64 g of fat!!! WHOA!!! Oh well, today's a new day and boy did it taste good so I don't regret it AT ALL!! Here's my weigh in: My next mini goal has me at 175 by next Saturday, TOM allowing I should be able to meet it. I am going to be cleaning and packing today. I'm guessing I need more than 1 box packed in order to move, although I have already had to half unpack the one packed box because I unexpectedly needed the items inside. What's the point?? edited to change a date. I put second weigh in as 27th which would be really hard unless I live in Japan! LOL |

Praise God we are now totally back to normal here!! WOOHOO!! So, I was having unbearable cravings for a HUGE Angus Steak burger with the works. I called my mom and a friend and talked it out with them and came to the conclusion that 700 cals was a lot and I'm thankful that I talked it through before doing it!! I settled for an all american Boca burger with lean bacon and pickles (lots of sodium today). I made some homefries to go with the burger and I'm totally stuffed for fewer cals than that one burger would have been. Cals: 1269 Breakfast: 265 Lunch: 269 Snack: 100 Dinner: 537 Snack (bedtime): 60 Not the greatest nutrition in food today, but oh well. It could have been WAY worse! |

So far so good today! She is tolerating her food again (slowly raising it up). Thank you all so much, what a blessing you are!!! I am dreading my taxes. I started my own business last year and have never done it before this way. If I can't figure it out with my mom's help next week I will take it to an accountant. I got some sleep last night and have actually started PACKING today! Got 1 box done and did some laundry too. I am feeling motivated today. Aside from packing and cleaning I'm not "planning" any exercise. I have started doing some light calisthenics at night while I'm watching TV. I do some squats, lunges and leg lifts with ankle weights. I then eat a snack under 100 cals, either a grapple or pudding because I crave something sweet. It's getting close to TOM for me again and my weight is at a stand still, probably for a week again. Feeling bloated.... HATE THAT, but I still know that it is only my duty as a woman to feel this bad every single month that I'm not pregnant or nursing until I reach an age where I feel even WORSE for a time until this goes away for good. |

Fat - 24.5% (39 grams) Cals 1369 (I ate half of a hershy bar... so I'm proud that I stopped at half!!) Thank you all SOOOOO much. I actually cried when I logged back in and saw all of the love. HB, my husband is in the military and he is gone for a year on a remote tour, he won't return until Sept. Aside from just having a weakened immune systerm, my daughter is tube fed (has a feeding tube that goes straight into her stomach through her abdominal wall). Her only source of nutrition is a dairy based formula and dairy does not mix with a stomach bug and fever, it makes you feel more sick. So for 3 days now she has had little nutrition because she is supposed to get a minimum 2000 cals per day and she has thrown up every bit, even just a tsp of water I tried to push into her yesterday. This evening she is finally tolerating 2 ounces of clear fluid and 1 ouce of her formula at a time, Praise God! Keep praying specifically that by tomorrow night she will be back to 100%. She loses weight VERY fast and I need to get her back up to her normal diet quickly! RG... We used to have someone come out every couple of months to help with Darien until we met some friends that were great with her and kept all 3 of our kids for us to have time away (a few times over night!). Now I am new here in Vegas and don't know that I actually trust a stanger enough here to take care of her. She is usually in school during the day and that gives me a pretty good break. My parent will be here in 9 days and that will give me a good break. Thank you all so much for your concern, it's like 4sq said... there really is power in prayer and that is the most important thing because He is the only one that can heal this faster! I know He will! Molly, Boots, 2BB.... anyone else I missed, sorry... Thank you for praying! I'll check back on tomorrow and give you all an update... |

That's GREAT 4sq!! It takes constant adjusting, I haven't been active at all lately, so I'm staying at my lower range of 1300-1350... sick kids are not fun. I go to bed afte 10pm and I'm awake again by 3 am. I have a terrible headache from lack of sleep and it's all I can do to not eat an entire chocolate cream cake right now to make myself "feel" better! Any of you prayer warriors out there please pray for my daughter Darien (my 12 yr old w/ disabilities). When she gets sick it's always bad and it's taking it's toll on me since I don't have hubby to help. Gonna go close all the windows and watch Biggest Loser on my Tivo while I try to relax this headache away and convince myself that chocolate is not some magical cure for a headache so I should NOT make a cake!!! |

Fat - 23.3% (36 grams) Calories: 1321 I made pizza again today, so that always puts my sodium up higher. I did OK the rest of the day so it's not too terribly high. I have a quick question. My daughter is pretty sick right now and I was up in the middle of the night with her getting sick. I was up for over 3 hours and had to eat something. It was at like 2am. If any of you have ever had to do this do you log it in the next days foods or the day before or not at all? Just curious how others might do it... WTG mel and 4sq... gotta love that scale moving again! I need to get down 1.5 more pounds in 10 days to meet my next goal by the date I had set of Feb 2. My parents are coming to visit and I set a mini goal of 175 by the time they come. I can't seem to make myself exercise right now, I think it's all the illness that has been going on in my house lately. It has left me feeling drained and with no real energy besides basic house and child care. Hope you all have a great night! |

| I just made it and it's setting in my freezer!! I used hershey syrup in place of honey and used Devils Food flavored pudding. I also used my PB2 instead of regular peanut butter. The bowls tasted yummy, so I'm sure this will be GREAT! Got it tagged! | |||

Original Post by mollymouser: You are so much more articulate than me!!! How easy was it for you to type those words and that was exactly what I was trying to say in 5 times as many words.... I'll just shut up now and let you handle the question answering. |
