Awesome Alle!!!
Amflasin and r4eboxer....let's keep plowing ahead.  I took one day as a free day (no exercise and ate what I wanted), but otherwise my calorie deficits are 600-900 calories and I still weigh more than I did a week ago!  Grrrrrr....let's see how tomorrow treats us.  Do not give up!!!

How is everyone doing with motivation this week?  I was struggling a lot on Monday since I have been busting my buns and staying at the same weight for over a week, but I got over it.  Just keep moving and shaking and it has to drop off at some point!!!

Yes, call the doctor.  They will probably help alleviate your fears.  I have heard that throat cancer is on the rise in females due to performin oral sex on males who are carriers of HPV and do not know it.  Males often times do not have symptoms (obviously can't develop cervical cancer!), but are able to pass the virus on to their female partners.

Edit:  Oh!  It is gone!!!  So glad to read that.  :O)

Today I am not exercising and I am allowing myself to eat whatever I want (regardless of calories) as long as I am actually hungry, I think about it first, and decide the food I am eating is what I actually want.  I figure one day of high calories and no exercise may be good for my body.
I have been keeping my calories at 1800-2000 and my burn at 2700-3000...but I wonder if perhaps I am actually burning more than that.  Anyhow...I figure eating higher calories (around 2500 probably) and higher than normal sodium for one day is okay.  I have heard it can shock your body and help you lose a bit.  We shall see.  It is worth a try anyway.  If not, oh well.  It has to come off eventually because I am not giving up!!!

I am feeling SO frustrated!  I just cannot break away from 220!  I am exercising a lot and am keeping my calories in check.  What is my problem????  Ugh.  Honestly I want to say "Whatever" and go grab a McDonald's cheeseburger.  I know that isn't the answer, but that is what I want to do.  Instead I will drink some Crystal Light and exercise for another 75 minutes.  Yippie.  :o(

You know, it is interesting.  I chose a locally based 5K for my first one, but my hubby did the Portland Marathon a few years back (and ran the entire 26.2 miles in under 4 hours - 9 minute miles for four hours!!!).  Anyhow, people are so encouraging and so supportive in the races.  The people who finished first in mine started jogging back through the race course to cheer the rest of us on!  When hubby, son and I first arrived, I felt extremely intimidated.  We were some of the first people to arrive (other than those who were setting up).  I had this exact thought, "Who are you kidding Fat Girl?  Is this supposed to be a joke?"  WHOA!  Where did that come from?  Somehow I put it out of my head.  Then I had a great run/walk!  I am impressed with myself that I did the course in under 40 minutes.  That is the fastest I have ever done that many miles...but they were flat.  :o)  Anyhow, if you get there and are intimidated, shake it off.  Other people are even more intimidated than you are and you can do it!  There were the skinny-minnie college girls wearing their "jogging skirts" and "jogging dresses" (yep, they exist!) and there were very heavy set ladies...teenagers in jr. high jogging with their moms and women in their 70's!  Lots of people walk the entire way or walk during portions of the race.  You can finish the race!!!
PS: I would really like to do a sprint triathlon too!

Thanks for the encouragement all!  It felt great and I look forward to doing it again.  :o)  Hopefully shedding some of the extra baggage will help me become faster.

And YES!  This is a lifestyle change.  I read an article that asked, "If you forgot to brush your teeth last night, would you give up on oral hygiene?  Of course not!  Then don't let a slip up with eating right and exercising lead you to giving up on your healthy lifestyle."  I love this quote!

Do It!!!  It feels so good when it is all over and you are walking around with your number on your shirt and drinking water.  :o)  Plus, if you sign up for a run/walk 5K and only compete with yourself, it is perfect for a beginner like us!

Hopefully I will hit 218.6 this week.  I would love to kiss the 220's goodbye forever!

Thanks Guys!  I may try to find one around Christmastime too...but I definately would like to do this one again.  I like it because it is women only and I am one of those people who realize men and women are built differenty, yet racing with men would just intimidate me!  I like being with women...lots of skinny-minnies who were super-fast, but plenty of us chubby girls who plodded right along too!

A French vacation and you maintained your weight!!!  VERY impressive.  :o)

I ran/speed walked my first 5K this morning.  My time was 39 minutes and 28 seconds.  I was hoping for 37 minutes, but I still am pleased and look forward to next year...29 minutes anyone???

Today I ran/speed walked my first 5K!!!  (3.1 miles)  I did it in 39 minutes and 28 seconds.  I am hoping next year I can do it in 29 minutes 59 seconds or less.  Had a famous star cheeseburger (delicious!) for lunch afterward from Carl's Jr.  :o)

Down two pounds this week!  Actually, Tuesday and Wednesday I was down 2.6 pounds, but sodium was up later in the week because of some yummy food.  ;o)
Anyhow, I am trying to keep my calories at around 1800 a day and trying to burn around 2700 calories a day.  I would LOVE to be at 193...or even 189 by Christmas!
I haven't been at a "healthy weight" since I was a child, so I do not even know what a good weight would be for me, but I think the 180's are looking great right now.  My hubby is nice and fit and he agrees.  We shall see!

ALLE: I hope you are accepted!!!!  I have my BA and my MA, and thoroughly considered my PhD, but decided on BSN for now and PhD later.

JOE: Yep, it could be muscle and it could be your body is just fluctuating.  Happens quite a bit.

TRINAROSE: I went through the same thing, but at least you know the honest to goodness truth with this scale!

Congrats to everyone for hanging in there and for pushing through!  We can do this together!

Yahoo Ladies!  It is so great to see you all in here!!!!
SDMerrill - you are here today and that is what is important!!!
I dropped 2 pounds this week...sitting at 220.6, but I think it is actaully closer to 220 because that weight was after I had 10-12 ounces of Crystal Light.  But anyway, two pounds dropped this week!!!
I am hoping to be at 193 by Christmas...maybe even 189!!!!
