Ok, speaking from a woman who had a baby 6 years ago & still hate my stomach, you can slim it down but it does take a lot of work!  I have came down from 180 to 148 now and even though my stomach is smaller from working out & I have lost my fat middle, I do still have loose skin from where my tummy stretched out.  Some women can go down to nothing again & other's like me who stretch out of proportion, will always have a little extra skin no matter how skinny we get.  It's ok though because I know that the extra stuff is from my sweet son and I wouldn't give him back now!

1.75 miles yesterday!  Yay, I'm increasing!  Thanks so much to wrm2105 & primadonna98 for your thoughts and encouragement!  The couch to 5K program is how I even got up to 3 miles so maybe I should just get back down where I'm kind of at now and finish it back out.  Thanks again!

Today I got 1 mile in!  It seems like maybe i'm the slacker here!  1 little mile compared to all of you!  I'm trying to work on it!  Give me some pointers!  Help a girl out!!  I did get up to 3 miles at one point but then quit for like 2 weeks when my grandparents died 2 days apart from eachother.  Ever since, I am finding it very hard to increase again.

My husband and I cycle!  It is great for dropping calories!!!  In the summer we pick a few rides to do where we'll ride 50-70 miles.  That really helps drop some weight.  You should try mountain biking also, it is a blast!!

Ok, I would like to join this adventure, but not quite sure what I need to do!  I know just by looking at all the other stats that I'm probably not going to pull high numbers like everyone else, but I'll sure try my best!  What do I need to do?

Congrats on your weight loss!  It sounds like you've done an awesome job!!!  I do get bored often with things I do & i don't really have any friends that can work out with me either.  Some different things I do just to change it up are Cycling, Swimming & Hiking.  It can really change things up if you do something off your normal routine just one day out of the week.  Good luck!

It sounds like your weight is actually pretty good!  You are tall and slender now, you're BMI is good!!!!  I know how it feels to just want to get where you want to get, but keep your head up, you're healthy!!  If you are wanting to drop, I would definately up the exercising.  I was a waitress for 7 years and although you do work your butt off, it's not quite the intensity that you could be doing for losing weight!  Keep up the good work though!

Just another opinion here!  If you read my bio, you will see that I am also a woman with an obese mother over 300.  All my life I have watched my mom struggle.  Now she is diabetic, insulin dependent.  There have been many concerns stressed to my mom about her weight.  No matter how you do it, it is hurtful.  Your mother knows she's overweight and if she doesn't want to fix it herself, there is nothing that you can do, other than setting a good example and living a healthy life for you.  I realized this a long time ago.  Someone would say something to my mom, so she would retaliate and go eat a piece of cake.  It's like telling a teenager they can't do something, they're going to do it twice as much just because you told them not to.  It can be very sad to watch a loved one, let alone your mother, go through obesity.  Just cheer her up when she does do something healthy and set a good example for her!

Just give it some time.  Usually, when you start a program, it takes a while for your body to adjust.  I know it would be hard, but don't step on the scale for a few weeks.  Just keep doing what your doing and then after you've done it consistently for a few more weeks, then do it.  I think you might be surprised!  As long as your clothes are getting more loose, you're definately doing something!!  Keep up the good work!

Weight Loss how to stop overeating Mar 29 2008

Here is a little something that someone else taught me!  I am a major over eater!  Love food!  Love it!  When I know that I've had enough but my mouth doesn't want to quit, I mess up my food:  like pour my drink in it or rub a napkin in it.  Do what ever to make it look totally disgusting and then it makes you not want to eat anymore.  It actually makes you feel kind of sick that you even ate it!  Kind of weird I know!

Hi there!!  I understand your confusion and frustration.  People are telling you to eat more, because if you are not getting in enough for you, your body can go into a starvation mode and keep your fat stored.  1200 calories is the min that anyone should get!  So, your body is probably holding on especially if you just started from eating quite a bit to limiting yourself to only 1200.

After you exercise you don't feel like eating for a while because of things going on in the body.  When you exercise, your GI tract (stomach, digestion) kind of shuts off.  Your in the whole flight or fight response, heart rate up, pulse up.  It shuts down these things until your done.

Here is a little chart that helped me!  This is from women's health magazine:  For lazy days:  take your (pounds X 15) - 500 = calories for the day

For exercise days:  take your (pounds X 18) - 500 = calories for the day

Your doing good, just keep up the good work.  It will start to come off.  Listen to your body!  If your hungry eat!  If not, don't eat.  It's what you eat that makes a difference!

Motivation Not doing so well lately Mar 15 2008

Well, first thing, take a deep breath!  You are probably feeling like this lately because you're probably so friekin' stressed out.  My sister is getting married May 10th and she is a ticking time bomb ready to explode. I have went through times when I don't want to work out and I just want to eat crap.  What helps me is this:  On a day when you really don't want to work out but have the time to and you know it, get dressed in your exercise clothes & then put your tennis shoes on.  I don't know why, but as soon as I make myself put my shoes on, I have to do it.  Once you make yourself work out especially on a day that you really don't want to, you feel so much better and i think it gives you that urge again to keep it going.  Once you start exercising again, it will make you want to eat better!!  Good luck!

Well, speaking as a PB&J lover myself, don't give it up if it's something that you love!  Just modify it a little!  If you don't like the PB substitutes, than cut calories by getting like a sugar free jelly.  Smucker's makes really good Sugar Free Jelly that only has 10 calories/tbsp.  I also use reduced calorie bread like Sara Lee's 45 calories/slice wheat bread.  Very good & I have found that this bread stays more moist than others!!

Well, even though I don't know how you feel, I can only offer support and an ear!  I do understand that even today, many people are so closed minded!  It doesn't matter the race either, because I see it from many ethnicities.  You can't help who you fall in love with!  I understand your husband not wanting to leave, but he should consider your feelings also.  If you have been there for 2 1/2 years and still not feeling accepted or liking the town at all, he should be willing to do whatever it takes to make you happy!  I know for a fact that if tomorrow I told my husband that I had to move, he would be behind me 100% (and i the same for him).  Although the racism thing happens no matter where you go, it's miserable living in a town that you absolutely hate!!!  Put your faith in God and let him lead you where you need to be!  In the end, it doesn't matter if the snotty next door neighbor accepted you for your skin or not.  It only matters that you took pride in yourself and for God!  Love yourself!  Once that starts, the food issue will disapear!  I'm always here to talk too!!
