Weight Loss Increase calories to avoid binge? Mar 28 2009

you wont lose the weight until you stop the binges so eat healthy non processed foods, i have similar stats are you and eat about 1800 to 2000 calories a day. You will probably lose the weight from just not binging anymore and drinking lots of water, combined with working out. You are binging because your body is demanding more food...1400 is definetly not enough. Sorry if its not what you wanted to hear :/

in my opinion one of the biggest diet myths is to cut out carbs, in my opinion its very important to have a whole grain carb in the morning it give you energy along with protein. I balance all my meals to have whole grain carbs, proteins and good fats.

 my two breakfast faves:

Big bowl of kashi go lean crunch with fresh blueberries if im in a rush. or

Two slices whole grain toast with a little butter, yogurt with fresh fruit and a little granola with nuts.

I really like the Triple Fruit jams from E.D. Smith.  They're also only 30 cals/tbsp and have to be refrigerated because they have more fruit and less sugar.

I'm pretty sure they're sweetened artificially. I used to love the triple fruit one. (EDIT: I looked it up. Only the "no sugar added" Triple Fruit jams are sweetened with sucralose.)

I love to mix apple butter with cottage cheese. Another good one: pumpkin butter. MMMM.

what do you use pumpkin butter on?

I use bare minerals as well, its easy to use and looks super natural. It never makes me break out!

I would recommend going to the mall, and going into a nordstroms or macys and having them do your makeup...they are always more than willing to show you everything you need to know...but just out of courtesy you would usually buy a lip gloss or mascara from their counter.

Go to like Clinique or Estee Lauder. Do not go to MAC...it looks like fun....but usually turns out horrible unless its halloween!

Health & Support I feel a binge coming on...support needed Oct 24 2008

i used to be a binger...the worst. for eight months i went through a very bad binge episode DAILY. but then i made some changes in my life and i have binged in over a month! im 5'4 110, cadio 30 mins, strength 30 mins 5 times a week. I maintain on 2,000 cals a day. Eating enough and eating what i like instead of restricted has nearly stopped my urges.

But when i do get an urge this is what i do:

Drink a ton of water...so much my tummy will hurt.

call my boyfriend for a nice long chat.

remember that my pint of ice cream will not run a way and i can enjoy a bowl after dinner tomorrow.

put on your cute clothes while listening to music and try finding different outfits by mix and matching your stuff.

I tell myself i love my body now...do i really want to ruin it? sometimes one binge leads to more more and more.

get OUT of the house....go for a walk...visit a friend...go sit at barnes and noble and look at magazines.

but what works the best because i live with my body builder brother....i just tell him so he knows to throw it away or hide it. Pathetic i know but it works...goodluck!

up your calories to 1800-2000 i know this is scary but you have to do this to stop the binging. I binged for many months when recovering from anorexia because i kept restricting.  Are you still underweight? if you are then your body may still be wanting calories! Please feel free to message me, if i can help in any way. Here is my meal plan i had followed to stop the binge eating:

b: Kashi go lean crunch, latte, berries

s: banana tbs peanut butter and granola bar

l: turkey and cheese sandwich, apple, crackers or baked chips

s: carrots with ranch, wheat thins, babybel/laughing cow cheese

d: big piece of grilled chicken, steamed veggies and a carb: noodles, rice or potatoes

before bed snack: big glass of milk and natural/organic cookies.

I was always full and never felt and the urge to binge.

do not fast.  just start over, eat at least 1400 cals a day, drink lots of water, lots of fruits, veggies and whole grains. and work out. this will work way way way better than fasting.

too be fair when i was in highschool i ate like crap and still kept a healthy weight. it happens...at some point you grow out of it and realize you have to be nicer to you body.

some of my lunches looked like this...

- cheesy bagel with cream cheese, a twix bar and a coke

- fries with and three cookies

- a bag of chips and a candy bar

- tater tots with ketchup and sugar cookies.

haha it makes me laugh now but ive always had a great metabolism. When i was eating like this at school every mornign i would have an instant breakfast and my mom would always cook a healthy dinner and i would eat cookies and milk before bed!

if you are still underweight your body may still be wanting all those extra calories because its hungry and wants to be fed! this happened to me. When you get to a healthy weight the urges to binge will subside. Make sure all your meals have one carb, one protein and one fruit or veggie. it makes for a balanced day because all your meals are balanced and you wont need to binge.
