Original Post by pattikins: Patti - I think you've given us ALL some tough love motivation, not just Tanya. Thank you. Tanya - Motivation is tough. It's too bad I don't have any pictures of myself in underwear, because I imagine I would have lost this weight yeearrs ago. Sounds like good motivation to me. Ummgood - welcome!!! Good luck on Turkey Day - I think we all need it... but, let's try not to be too hard on ourselves... It's just one day a year, right?! Well, except for Christmas....Christmas Eve with the in-laws....those special Valentine/Anniversary/Birthday dinners.....ugh. I've not done as well as I'd like on my calories this week, so I'm dreading that scale tomorrow... I'm hoping for at least one pound dropped this week. Just one! Please! Just give me that dern one pound! Happy Thursday, everyone. |

Wow, I am sooo glad I found this post. I read back as much as I could cram in. I feel you! All of you! I know these feelings! It's so rare to find other people who are honest about this problem. I haven't met many people who can relate to the sudden, crazed need to fill up on anything you can get your hands on. My thing is a variety too... I want ten different things, but I don't want just a little bit of each, I want as much as I can get of everything. It's like some deep-seeded fear that it won't be there - like I need to stock up. It's been quite a while since I've eaten so much that I wanted to throw up. I feel great. I've lost a couple of pounds. However, that urge is there. Luckily (kinda) my husband is unemployed right now so he makes dinner at night and he makes just enough. I drink water or eat a banana and read a book to distract myself from the urge. It's better after dinner when I'm not hungry anymore but BEFOREHAND! omg I get home from work and it's like I haven't eaten in days, although I've had plenty at work. I just don't go into the kitchen. I'm doing okay with eating at work - I work pretty isolated in my cubicle so I could binge away with no one noticing if I wanted to - but I just stick with eating what I've brought from home. Plus, I'll bring a lot - like, three pieces of fruit and a yogurt and a sandwich cut in half - so I sort of just eat it all day, instead of all at once. It helps me think I'm constantly eating, almost tricking myself into thinking I've eaten a ton. It doesn't help that the cafeteria makes the whole building smell like bacon every morning, and I see people walking by with trays of fries, mashed or au gratin potatoes (potatoes are my biggest downfall)... I can just imagine going up after I've had my yogurt and loading up a plate with home fries, eggs and sausage... but somehow, I resist... mostly by not letting myself have any cash at work... they don't take the debit card. Anyway, thank you all for being so honest and I'm really looking forward to reading your journeys. |

| Foods | What do you plan on doing for Thanksgiving? | Nov 11 2007 14:11 (UTC) |

| We eat Thanksgiving at lunchtime at my husband's grandmother's house... so I'll be eating a really light breakfast and then probably won't be hungry for any dinner. I'm not planning on denying myself anything at the actual meal though. It's Thanksgiving! And it's a Southern Indiana Thanksgiving - with chicken n'noodles and every vegetable baked in its own casserole. One helping is my only rule... and I'll take the dogs on a nice long walk when I get home. | |||

Hi everyone! I'm hoping some of you can share your experiences with losing a lot of weight... I'm kind of concerned about extra skin once the weight is gone. I joke with my husband that my boobs are going to be empty sacks of flesh once this is over but I think we both secretly dread it's going to be kind of gross... So, have you lost a lot and had problem with extra skin? Is it visible under your clothes? Have you had to dress a certain way to hide it? Or, maybe you just shrunk back into place? I'm pretty young - 25 - so I'm hoping it will just snap back in - haha - but I'm sure this is going to be an issue eventually. Thanks!! Amanda |

That's only 800 calories.... that's not enough. You should eat 1200 to make sure you're getting all of your nutrition and keep your metabolism healthy. I'm sorry to hear about your stepfather.... sometimes things happen and we go over, and that's okay. Just get back on the boat. I think you should eat on the low end of your usual range (1200) and maybe go for a walk or do some extra of your usual workout if you're really concerned about that one day of extra calories. |

| They make me sick as well and my doctor said it was probably from the extra iron I was getting - I don't know if she was right... I just try to get my iron through my diet now. | |||

| Find some yummy, healthy chili and soup recipes on allrecipes.com and spend an hour on the weekend making a batch. You can eat what you want then refrigerate or freeze the rest to eat during the week or later! It's a good way to load up with veggies, by putting them in soups - and a bowl of soup or chili with a slice of wheat bread is always a perfect filling, healthy meal - especially since it's getting colder. | |||

I know, it is hard. I definitely agree with the milestones - I have over 100 pounds to lose, but I set my first goal at just 37 pounds. Set even smaller ones than that, and maybe reward yourself for meeting each small goal? I know it's hard and women and mothers are so busy but it's worth it to take the time to plan meals. Can you get your significant other to help you out? Without planning, I wouldn't be able to stick to my diet AT ALL. Good luck to you, and don't beat yourself up! |
