My main isue with technology is that I had to download a bunch of new software so I get my homework from the website one of my teachers uses. It really screwed up my computer.

I think #29 put's it well: The perfect guy is someone in the middle, with the excitement and confidence (thought not necessarily arrogance) of the 'bad-boy', but the loving qualities of the 'nice-guy'.

I tend to gravitate towards these types of guys and 'nice-guys' simply because the prove that not every guy acts like my father. When I was younger I always thought that I would never get married because I did not want my parent's relationship.

One line I like:

They say that Britain and American are two countries seperated by the Atlantic Ocean.
And they're right.

I love Eddie Izzard! My favorite sketch is when he's describing Techno Fear and Techno Joy.

I'm also a fan of The Riches.

Thought of another one: Durian.

We would see them (and smell them) all the time in Malaysia. Despite having the worst stench in the world, they are supposed to taste pretty good.

kaptain9 making pasta yourself is one of the easiest things ever. Flour and egg yolks. I use a rolling pin because I don't have a pasta machine and last month (before my "lifestyle change" I made foi gras and wild mushroom ravioli. Yum!

Hmm, maybe I should try making my own pasta. I've just always thought that a pasta dish made with high quality, authentic ingredients by someone who actually knows what he's doing would be a better dish than the standardized dishes found in most American restaurants.

hehe I'm joining the spaghetti squash craze.

I've wanted to try alligator meat. Apparently it tastes pretty similar to chicken.

And it would be amazing to go to Italy and have real pasta.

The assignment's due at the end of November, so I should be able to get some fresh ones! Thanks to everyone for the feedback, the ideas you gave sound really good and I'll have to try them.

That sounds good, like a shrimp scampi.

I think they should be in season pretty soon, if they aren't already, so I'll have to do some experimenting.

You lose an average of like 100 hairs a day. Unless it's coming out in huge clumps, you're probably okay. My hair falls out a lot, too... and my hair is thin.

It is coming out in clumps though, which definitely isn't normal for me. That's why I'm starting to get worried.

I have to wait until tomorrow to talk to my endocrinologist. There wasn't any bloodwork done after my biopsy so I'm not sure if there were any changes in my thyroid level.

 FREAKY!

It seems like a combination of shorter broken hairs and hairs actually from the scalp. I asked my friend to give me a ride so I can get my hair cut (I needed it anyways, my layers were looking odd).

I don't do much else to damage my hair. I rarely blow-dry it and have never once straightened it.

Nope, I've been using that stuff for months.

I've been thinking of two possibilities:

  • I haven't gotten my hair cut in a very long time (trying to grow out a stupid short haircut that was five inches shorter than I wanted). I don't know if this could affect the way my hair grows.
  • I recently had a thyroid biopsy, and know there's scar tissue on my thyroid. I don't know if this could affect the way my medicine works.

I'm actually less stressed than I should be, given my current workload. Not to say that I'm not stressed, it just seems like it's not enough to make my hair fall out.

Yeah, I'm with ya. Last year was my freshman year at college, and I didn't make much friends, so at the beginning of this year I was pretty lonely. But I'm meeting more people at my new dorm, so things are looking up.

I'm going to be pretty anxious tomorrow: I get news of whether or not I got into an organization, and I'm trying out for a sports club. I'm already getting nervous.

Aren't you glad you went to your class? I always feel proud when I make myself go to a class I was considering skipping. And philosophy sounds interesting.

Fitness New Rules of Lifting for Women Sep 16 2008

I'm a fan, yes. I really like the structure of the workouts and was able to see improvement physically and in the weight I was lifting. Though, if you found the first workout easy, you should try increasing weight. The only way weight lifting will work is if it challenges your muscles.

If you are interested in a different workout schedule, I think there's one available on stumptuous.com.

I was definitely intimidated when I first started using the free weights! I felt like I was intruding, and that I would be looked down on for not being able to lift as much as the beefy guys that inhabited that area. What I found was that the guys there either didn't care, or thought it was cool that I was into weight lifting.

I was raised Catholic.  My mom still gets a disappointed look on her face when I reiterate that I am not Catholic anymore.  I have an uncle who is a priest, my family is quite.. erm....devout.  If I told my grandma I was an atheist and had no intention of getting married in the catholic church, she'd be devastated.  In some ways it's been hard, but I can't be anything other than who I am, nor do I want to be.

I can relate, I once told my parents that I didn't care if I got married in a church, or even by a priest (I'm not sure if I can anyways, I was never confirmed), and my dad was horrified.

Well, I was raised Roman Catholic, and went to a Catholic private school, but I'm not Catholic just because it was pushed on me. Those beliefs just make sense to me. There are times when I don't agree with the political stance of the Church, but if you take away all that stuff and just look at the basic beliefs, that's the stuff that I like. And I can honestly say that if I didn't believe in God, I would have gone through with suicide a while ago.

My first day of freshman year has been my worst out of my college career so far. I had to get a friend (who I had just met a couple of days ago) to help me move in the 'fleeing-the-country' way- grab everything and run! I had a crazy junkie for a roommate and had just gotten news that I could change rooms. My first class was a lab, there was someone there saying that "If you don't have goggles, you won't be allowed in the lab". He also said that any one without goggles would have to go to the student center in the middle of campus to buy the goggles. So I end up being 45 minutes late to my first class, and I find out that I could have just gone down the hall and bought a pair for like $5! Yell

One trick with labs is to read over the experiment before each lab. You might have to do this for homework reasons too, but if you thoroughly read and understand the experiment, you won't have to worry as much if you can't understand the T.A.

You will be able to make up the lab, either by going to a different section of the same lab, or (they have this at my school) there might be a scheduled date where you can make up the lab.

And if you are considering dropping the class or switching sections, do it soon because most add/drop periods only last for the first couple of weeks.
