If its the diet I think it is, it sounds like she is doing to Lemonade diet.   My uncle and his girlfriend did the lemonade diet last year and they both lost about 15-20lbs in 14 days.  I thought AWESOME! So i have to try it.  I think I lasted about 6 days.  It wasn't that I was hungry but i was craving.  I ended up lossing about 10 lbs., but when I stopped to diet and got back to eatting real food I gained it all back, but i didn't really ease myself into it like your suppose to.  there is a book on this diet, and it has all the nutrients you need.  but i really don't know if i would ever do it again.

Hey guys!

So this week i kinda fell off the wagon.  I ended up going out last night, had a few drinks, eat then thought eating Jack in the Box potato wedges and 2 tacos seemed like a good idea.  i don't even really like fast food. but when i drink apparently i do.  not only did that make me feel like crap this morning, but i recently quit smoking.  well thats another down fall i have. when i drink i think smoking sounds great.  so needless to say i didn't feel real great this morning.  but i did weigh in......as of last week i went back up to 195.......as of this morning.....192.50.   so i guess thats some pregress considering i went out last night.  suppose it could of been better, but i'm happy that i atleast didn't gain.  well good luck  to the rest of you. and congrats to those who made there goal for the week.

ok so dumb question.  i drink skim milk like its going out of style.  i preobably go through atleats 2-3 gallons a week.  its funny cause when i was a kid i was lactose intolerant.  i still am, but it doesn't bother me as bad. plus i hated milk at a kid.  so my mom started buying that lactaid milk cause she was always a firm beleiver that you need to have milk with every meal. lol. anyways.....so recently i was interested in trying soy milk.  but i'm not really sure how it tastes.  i don't want to spend the money on something that i'm not going to like.  and i don't really know anyone who drinks it.  what do you guys think? what does it take like?

I worked at the movie theatre years ago. when i was in high school and it would get me every time when you would have people come in and order a jumbo popcorn, milk duds, hot dog w/ everything, pretzel not only cheese but extra cheese, and then order a large diet pepsi.  whats the point.  seriously i hate to say it, but i used to judge people like that.  i thought it was sad.

Original Post by princess-adora:

Hi guys! I've been reading without being a member for the last few weeks, but I reckon that if I really want to actually lose weight, then I have to start paying more attention to everything, and not just the number on the scale. I weigh in every day before getting dressed (and after visiting the toilet, pesky water weight!) and I'm currently hovering around 187.

I started off in November at 197, so I've lost about 10lbs (which has JUST hit home, ohmigosh yay!) but it's taking forever and it's so frustrating watching the numbers go up and down. I don't exercise much, which is very bold, but I do drive every weekday, which apparently burns calories so I guess I save that way.

You guys are pretty amazing, with all the losses that are happening, but when I see the number of people on the 120 and 130 end of things, it's mega depressing as I'll never ever get there (if I want to remain healthy anyway, I've a large frame and am at least 5 foot 8). Maybe some day I'll make it to the 150s though :)

Oh, I've seen a lot of posts about water and the 8 glasses a day "myth". I dunno about anyone else, but I drink at least 2 litres a day, and it helps a lot. I think drinking so much even helps to push the excess water out of the body, if that makes any sense!

I'll be 24 in March, and I'd love to be a few dress sizes smaller by the time that happens, but what will be, will be.

Hey Princess-adora!

I know exactly how you feel.  I'm 5"7"  and about 195lbs.  I used to be roughly 140-150, but my dad past and since i have just coped by eating and drinking.  Don't get frustrated, cause your not the only one who is in the 120-130 range.  I'm sure as heck not.  I also have a large frame.  I've talked to numous people and doctors and they have all said that for my body type i should typically wiegh anywhere from 135-140.  So you too can do it.  Don't look at the negative, look for the positive.  And so maybe one week you do't loose weight, and you don't gain, but maube your pants are feeling a little looser.  I think you should only wieght your self 1 a week, if that.  It you do it more your going to see the number going up and down.  And that will just frustrate you even more.  I knowit does me.  But honestly i could care less how much i actually wieghed.  As long as i'm healthy, fit, in shape, and feleling good then nothing else matters.  It's just a number.  And a number its something that your should allow to bring you down.  Nothing can make you inferior without your consent.  So it you let it piss you off and annoy you then your letting your wieght get the best of you.  From now on just look at the number and say, "ok well its not what i wanted, and i was expecting a little more progress, but who cares i feel great!"  And as long as you feel good, and stay positive, positive results are soon to follow.

Ok so I know I just posted, but I'm at work and really bored.  I was sitting gere thinking about some stuff and wanted to get someone elses opinion on it.

So I'm used to workingout in the evenings.  Thats what I've always done. I usually go right after work so I don't end up making some excuse as to why I can't go. But lately there are all these people who are at the gym now ( new years resolutions).  Before it was pretty easy trying to get a machine.  If at all anything I maybe had to wait 5-10 mins. Tops.  Now its to the point where I'm waiting 30-45 mins.  And as soon as a machine opens up, its like a stampeed, everyone goes running for it.  So I started going later.  Instead of getting there around 5:30-6, I would go home, make some dinner, chill out for a while and then go around 8.  By the time I'm finished workingout and go home, take a shower and start to wind down for the night.  Its already like 10:30.  Now don't get me wrong 10:30 isn't late in my book, but when you have to get up for work at 5:30-6am it is.  I'm not a morning person, so I need as much shut eye as I can get.  But I still don't get it.  I'm completely ready for bed, and I can't sleep, my mind is racing, I have so much energy.  And I know that come from workingout.  And I know that that is a good thing, but not when I need to sleep.  So the whole point of the long and drawn out question is........do any of you workout in the morning?  Before going to work.  My gym opens at 5am.  I was thinking about starting to get up every morning and going to the gym around 5, so that I would be done by 6.  Have and hour to get cleaned up and ready for work, and still be able to be at work by 8.  And then have my workout finished for the day.  The only thing I would have to worry about for the rest of the day is what I put in my mouth.  But I'm not sure I can do it.  Does anyone do it?  Is it hard to get up that early and get motivated to workout?  Do you have energy for 3 hours and then crach and burn midday?  Any imput would be appretiated.  Thanks!!

Hey Everyone!

I haven't been on in  about a week.  I've been sick with the flu.  Fun stuff, let me tell ya.  So I missed weigh in day.  But I did manage to weigh myself this morning.  Last weeks weight was 193.......as of this morning I was 190.5.  Not to bad for not being able to work out for a week.  I'm happy with it. I've managed to lose about 7.5 lbs since i've started so I don't really think I'm doing to bad.  Anyways, I had only a little bit of time to read over the rest of the posts.  But Congrats to everyone who reached their goal for the week (last week).

Thank you Scarter.  Your condolences are appretiated. I actually have suffered from anxiety my whole life.  But two years ago something just happened.  I had panic attacks 24/7.  I would wake up in the middle of the night having them.  From dawn until dusk I was miserable.  I haven't over come them by any means but I have sought out help to atleast learn how to live with them.  There are still a few things here and there that make me uncomfortable, but I gues baby steps is all you can do.  I have actually been put on meds for my attacks.  So that is probably another reason I have gained some.  But it makes me feel better and I know when I don't take them.  I body basically shuts down and I get very skiddish.  I may have to do some research on the overeating/weight problems and see how anxiety affects it.  Thanks Scarter, you put somethings into perspective for me.Wink

Hey guys!

Kirsten actually introduced me to this thread.  My name is Kristen. I'm 22 soon to be 23.  I've3 always have been a little over weight.  When I was a kid I was a twig.  Skin and bone.  But once puberty hit, guess what, the hips came out and the cravings started.  Up until about 18 months ago, I weighed roughly 145-150.  But I'm also 5'7", so for my height that really isn't that bad.  It was just a matter of toning.  While I was dating my ex, I started to get severe panic attacks.  To the point that I became a hermit.  I couldn't do andthing.  I was miserable.  I couldn't go to the movies, stand in line at the grocery store, sports events, etc. etc. I couldn't even eat.  I ended up losing about 45 pounds in a matter of 2 months, it was gross.  There is a picture in my gallery from 2005, and you can actually see how thin I was.  That pic. was taken when I was starting to gain the weight back.  But since then, my father pasted away, and everything changed.  I didn't know how to cope.  I was daddy's little girl.  I'm not the crying type and I don't really open up to much.  It makes me feel weak, and I don't want to be weak. So instead of coping the normal way, I starting eat and drinking.  It will be 2 years since my dad past in April.  Since his passing I have managed to gain about 60 pounds. I now weigh about 194.  I have lost about 4 pounds.  Whoopy...right?  But its a start.

Yeah the STL question.....seriously I really think we are the only city that does that.  I guess it shows status or something.  Well, I grew up in south county, Oakville area.  But I went to school in the city. South city. I went to DuBourg.  I would have gone public, but i got bribed.  My godparents  are pretty well off. I wouldn't say rich, but there have know reason to worry. And told me that if I went to a catholic high school and graduate they would take me any where in the world that I wanted to go as a graduation present.  Hey why not!  Well turned out that 9/11 happened and they had just adopted a new baby boy so we went to Florida.  But ****, I didn;t ahve to pay for it so who cares where I went, right? Up until about 4-5 months ago I was a waitress at a country club in sunset hills.  I worked there for 5 years. I hated it so much.  But I just couldn't leave my family.  I had worked with everyone so lond that it would be weird not seeing them every day.  But I finally got out.  I do miss it every now and then.  I currently work for a trucking company off of hall street. i know, classy right?  But it works for now.  One of the members from the club is the VP of the company, and he offered me a job.  I figured that it was atleast a stepping stone to move on to something better.  The plus side is that i finally have benefits, i have my weekends off and my holidays paid.  So i'm content for the time being.  Oh, by the way, I am actually really good at enlish and grammar, but i'm really tired and have been looking at a computer screen all day, so i kinda gave up.

I'm in the same boat you are.  I love going out!  I feel like my weekend is a waste if I don't.  I also am really good during the week, but screw it up oin the weekends.  But **** happens right?

Oh wow!

I have had so many nicknames through out my life.  When i was a baby apparently I did this thing where i would stretch my neck out so far that I looking like a turtle coming out of its shell.  So ever since then my nicknames in my immediate family has always, since i can remember, been turtle.  Eventually my dad shortened it to turt, which let me tell ya. when your a kid and your playing outside and your dad comes out to call you in for dinner, people don't think he is saying turt.  Most thought something else.  As i got older for some ungodly reason my sister now calls me turtlebutt.  I don't know why, but I think its funny. And i answer.  as i got older and started working I became know as Red, Sunshine, and TRouble. I'm sure theres a few more but I can't think of them.  Then when i became legal, who am i kidding, when i starting drinking at what ever age that was, my friends dubbed me as Captain.  I love captain morgan.  Me and the captain make it happen.

DE JA VU!

I'm 22 and I can relate to wha tyou are saying.  Only on the other end.  I was a terrror to my parents.  I was always in trouble at school, social events, etc.  I just didn't care.  I felt that I was a big girl and could do what ever I wanted.  Whether I hurt someone or myself in the process.  I never really got into the drug scene, but I did get into drinking.

While I was growing up, I was always invisible, atleast thats the way I felt.  I never felt good enough.  I felt like I was always in my sisters shadow.  I have an older siser and a younger brother  So let me tell ya, middle child syndrome does exist.  But I starting acting out to get attention.  I knew my parents weren't going to notice me otherwise.  So instead of getting positve attention I strived for the negative. To me it didn't matter.  As long as I had it.  I nearly got suspended from high school, had a few run ins with the cops, drove drunk, partied like a rock star.  I just ran with the wrong crowd.  But I did it cause I knew my mom would have a fit.  My dad traveled for a living so he wasn't around except on the weekends, so he really had know clue what was going on around the house.

It finally got to the point of growing up.  Know one forced me.  I understand that your girls are you babies.  You care so much and lov ethem and only want to best for them.  But they have to figure the rest out on there own.  If they are anything like i was, i didn;t want to be told.  I KNEW all!  They are going to make mistakes and screw up, but the only way they will ever learn is by doing it.  They have to figure it out on their own.  It's like someone telling you that you won't like a certain tv show or a certain kind of music.  Well you don't know that until you see it, or hear it.

They only advise I can really give you is.....don't let you youngest come home right away. Start out slow.  Of course she is going to want to go out with her friends on the weekends.  What I would do is call her on a monday.  And ask her what her plans are going to be for the next weekend.  Most teenagers don't have plans made until the day of.  And see if she/ they want to have a girls weekend.  If there are a few of there friends that you do like tell them that they can have one friend come over.  But it is strictly a girls weekend.  Rent movies, eat cookie dough, gossip,  showe them that you not only have a "mom" side, but that you can relate to them on there level.  Show them that you can be "cool" but that you are aslo an authority figure.  Your there mom, of course there are going to be things that your disagree with and vise versa.  But maybe getting on the same level will help them to open up to you.

I can pretty much gararuntee that you youngest is doing all of this because she is striving for your attention.  When your oldest was going through her stuff, you focused on her.  Your youngest felt neglected.  Not that you neglected her, but in a teenaged girls mind you did.  So now she figures ok well thats how my sister got attention so i'm going to do the same.  Give her attention, want ot be part of her life, want to be her friend, but know when the friend needs the stop and the mom needs to come out.

I hope in some way shape or form this helped.
