Soy crisps, fruit, light n' fit nonfat yogurt - my weakness is the 60 cal pudding cups from jell-o. Fiberous things, though (like fruit) that quickly fill you up. Not that it really works for me when I get the munchies - which I've been doing a lot lately since classes ended. Apple wedges with honey and cinnamon. Oatmeal (the flavored oatmeal is delicious and not much higher cal than the original kind). And finally where to go when you NEED food: www.hungry-girl.com ("chew the right thing") |

Someone up there looking for a "natural" sweet treat: Sliced apples drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon. It's amazing how good it is. If you really wanna be natural - try locally farmed honey. |

About your #1. I'm 5' 6" and 135. Healthy BMI and good proportions. Only a supermodel would call me fat... I feel seriously self conscious buying diet food. It's not exactly the same - but I think we're all just self conscious. I only stop feeling like I'm being watched when I'm seriously focused on something. I feel like I can make people feel better about themselves when I pick up a candy bar. That's why I'm here, to make up for what I did to myself when I was last visiting my sister ( did anyone say fried snickers bar). I would never have eaten so much at home. And to make up for what I did to myself when I quit smoking (I'm so proud of myself) - PS. I didn't gain a pound: I'm just trying to keep it that way. |

You can get a "personalized plan" of how much of each food group you should eat each day. This comes with descriptions of what foods fall in which food groups and examples of serving sizes. A really rich resource.
http://www.mypyramid.gov/ I use this combined with the CC site so that I can count my calories and balance my food groups. Can't say much about the specific meal. But, check it out! |

PS: I thought for the past 8 years that I was a size ten (I'm 5'5", 135 - ten eight years ago I was 125). I never thought 10 was a big size, I just thought it fit. Now I'm finding that I'm an 8 in old navy and AE, and a 5 in levis (tight stretchy). The inconsistency is brutal. |

It doesn't matter whether it's getting bigger or smaller. The problem is that it's not an industry wide standard. It SHOULD be. But then - we'd all want to be a different size. I would just like to walk in to a store, pick out a pair of pants or a shirt and know it will fit (best) instead of having to try on a size higher and a size lower until I find the best fit. |

Part of the reason I put off quitting smoking - like most girls - was fear of weight gain. I had a lot of room for improvements in my habits. I quit on September 1st. Bought a bike and started biking to school (about 1 mile). I haven't gained any noticeable weight. And am now on a mission to lose some. So if you quit and you DO change your habits - it can go really well for you. |

I found it's easiest to slice while still in the skin (after halving it). Then run knife between flesh and "meat" to separate from skin and empty (already sliced) directly onto whole wheat bread. Add baby spinach, red pepper, tomato, a bit of dijon and maybe a cup of tomato soup and you've got my lunch-of-the-week. I usually keep mine zip-locked in the fridge for a day.

Invited out for pizza with some friends.
Ordered the mostaccoli (it came with cheese) and garlic bread. Didn't snack as bad as you but realized that we should allow ourselves 1 cheat day not less than 7 days apart.

Focus on the nutritional intake of your food. Your body needs some number of calories of "new" food every day - but (probably not applicable to you) it can use some of those calories to burn stored calories. What's important is getting your new calories in such a way that keeps your body nourished (you don't "work off" your vitamins). Visit the USDA food pyramid site. http://www.mypyramid.gov/ It has a tool ("My Pyramid Plan") that will tell you how much of each food group you should be eating every day. If you focus on nourishing your body, rather than calories, you should be able to combat the guilt you feel when you eat that extra bit. Remember: Your body NEEDS it. |

Coffee is good but more than once a day is excessive. I know how hard it can be - I used to be really into coffee. However, when I would wake up late on Saturdays and not get around to drinking some I would suffer horrid "withdrawl" headaches. I quit coffee over a year ago.
My favorite coffee (though, Starbucks beans might not be up to the task) was a soy latte with honey. If you want to order it iced you have to mix the honey with the shot before you add the cold milk.
These days I drink chai - usually one each day - that's good too. I may start brewing my own - but then I'd never leave the house. |
