Hun, I get this all the time, too. I totally understand how it makes you feel. I'm usually the same way and excuse the comments because I figure the people saying them don't have a clear view of what it feels like to be in our situations. However, don't let her lack of understanding deter you from your path! This website is always wonderful and refreshing to fall back on when the people in our immediate lives aren't too understanding of what we're going through. In my case, I get the "I'd MUCH rather be in your shoes and be able to eat without gaining a pound!" constantly, even when taking into account how underweight I am. It's much more "acceptable" and desirable to be underweight in our culture, so instead of being motivated to eat more and overcome our issues, we're congratulated for being unhealthy by some. This is a highly insensitive, highly dangerous outlook. |

Original Post by hgielrehtaeh: Despite you thinking children 12 and under shouldn't be on "any" website, they are. Just because it seems like the right age to cut off and deem "too young for internet" doesn't mean that's going to stop them. If we ignore the issue by setting a universal rule and thinking everyone will apply themselves to it, we're going to wreak a lot of havoc. For this reason, it should be imperative to monitor and make known what kind of information is being more mass-distributed than we are aware of. So what if you "discovered it first"? Someone else discovered it, made a thread about it to inform more people (in case they were unaware), and made a few more people aware in the process. Yes, these public forums are indeed public, but most people aren't under the impression that their posts are viewable through Google because a lot of other forums do not have this same set up. There's nothing wrong in spreading some awareness to people who may potentially have a problem with this upon gaining knowledge about it. |

| Oh man! I remember the anticipation! But honestly, once college applications are out of the way, all you have to do is sit back, work your senior year, and wait. It's not NEARLY as bad as the filing period and applying. Best of luck to all you calorie count seniors! :) | |||

For those of you who are contemplating whether this person's post is legitimate or not based on their profile or whatever criteria, does it even matter? Say this wasn't real, and you offered your advice, what did you lose? I think the simple fact that, yes, she is underweight and needs to be guided to some help should override your necessity to try and point out fraud. It's not a light topic, and if I were the original poster, I would feel offended/hurt that people would take my serious question and desecrate it by trying to make me for a fraud. We shouldn't take someone's call for help lightly, whether we suspect things or not. And to the original poster-- everyone thus far has led you in the right direction. I am also underweight. It will be difficult when you begin trying to gain, but with the guidance and support of a doctor, family member, or friend, you will definitely be on your way to a healthier you! I highly recommend visiting a nutritionist or doctor who will help you step in the right direction towards weight gain. |

Hola seaerra. :) Welcome. Have you talked to your doctor about low-intensity work outs? Like, going for a long walk? I don't think that should be a problem with you, but I'm not a doctor, so be sure to find out! Walking can go a long way. |

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
Take the Diet Profile Test and learn to avoid the pitfalls and self-sabotage that often come with your personal profile.
