You should schedule a doctor's appointment just in case. I have periodic tachycardia which is essentially an excessively fast heart beat which would seem to be what you have. In my case I'm young and the accelerated pace is benign and is causing no adverse health effects. I have a prescription for beta blockers just in case but I have never taken them. When you go to the doctors they will probably first hook you to their office EKG machine and check your rhythm there. Mine was off so I was sent to a cardiologist who had me wear a heart monitor for a couple days and they found occasionally my heart doesn't send the correct signals which is why it beats too fast. Its not something to worry about in my case and I've rarely even noticed it. |

Lol! I just had this argument with my family last week. I'm a vegetarian and every time we go out to eat their response to me is "Oh they have salads so you can eat too". AARRRGGGHHHH I cannot live off of salads....how exciting to have a salad every time we go out to eat. They mean well but I understand everyone's frustrations. |

I think as long as your daughter eats well there is nothing wrong with being a vegetarian. I think it would be best to make an appointment with her doctor since she is young and have them talk with you and her about what developing children need to remain healthy while maintaining a vegetarian lifestyle. Make sure she takes a multivitamin which includes vitamin b12 which can sometimes be deficient in vegetarians. She also needs to learn how to read food labels real well since many products have things like chicken fat in them even if the name doesn't indicate that it would contain any animal product. I have been a vegetarian for years and have no problem with it. Sometimes other people are the hardest part since they don't always understand. If she is comfortable with her decision however I think she should be encouraged. |

Someone will seriously have to pry the depo shot out of my cold dead hands before I stop taking it. I've been on it for 5 years now and as much as I would like to blame my weight gain on it and not my poor eating and exercise habits I just can't. If I gained any weight from it the only one who noticed was the scale at my doctors office (maybe 5 lbs max). I'm not sure love isthe right word for a BC but I greatly appreciate the depo shot, it has eliminated 100% all of the medical reasons my doctor put me on it, I couldn't ask for a more effective medication (not to mention the whole preventing pregnancy thing 99% effective). However I'm not advocating you go in there and ask for it. Just like eveyone else said it is important to remember everyone reacts differently to medication so you may need to try a couple before you find the one for you. I just felt bad depo was getting such a bad rep, it can really help some people. |

I got a sick hollow feeling in my stomach as I read your post. I'm so focused on losing my weight and complaining about food that tempts that it often escapes me that there are people who need to gain weight but have limited or no access to food. I agree that the environment she is in is very unhealthy and before her weight can be remedied her environment needs to be fixed. If she is not anorexic and was unaware of how little she weighed I'm assuming she wasn't hiding her body and I can't imagine getting down to 91 lbs (I'm the same height) and not having my parents and sibling absolutely losing their minds. Someone needs to intervene in that familial situation, 20 may be legally an adult but she isn't much older than a child and no one should have to be in that situation where they are dependent on parents who won't take care of their basic needs. I have to say with a situation like that I doubt she is motivated to eat. Depending on where she goes to school colleges (at least mine) are a great place to find support and options. Counseling centers on campus will know of resources to help her manage both her weight and environment. Financial aid may be able to arrange housing for her and often non-profits have campus connections, things like food banks and housing assistance. Professors can also be indispensable resources when combating difficult situations. I hope you can encourage her to appreciate her self and her body more. Forget pushing calories or excersise push her to realize she deserves better in every aspect. |

| Weight Loss | Searching for the LOWEST calorie Banana Bread/Muffin Recipe | Mar 21 2009 22:23 (UTC) |

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ellie-krie ger/carrot-cupcakes-with-cream-cheese-frostin g-recipe/index.html Okay so these are carrot cupcakes but bear with me. First of all I made them substituting egg beaters for the eggs and added raisins, also no frosting. CC put them at about 115 calories a muffin and yes they are more muffin than cupcake but they are moist, light, delicious muffins. Really these are ssooo good and a wonderful snack. So for the banana part- my sister doesn't like carrots so in the next couple days I am going to remake them with bananas instead. I plan to leave the bananas a little chunky so you can get a little piece of banana with the raisins and all. I'll let you know how that works out! |

Avocados are excellent! If you can try to sip milk throughout the day like water if that fits into your plan. I think steamed milk can be rather comforting so perhaps you can take a moment and enjoy a cup. Is there any food that you really enjoy, like a particular comfort food? I think it would be fine to eat that in moderation if it gives you nutrients and comfort. Good luck! |

I love this topic! I too have wondered about people's user names. I don't know if mine is odd but RidinWarmWinds is the idea of just going with life; particularly going with life while sitting on a tropical beach with a fruity drink watching the waves roll in. I think coma red is a pretty catchy name lol. |

Thanks for all the replies! I like the idea of learning how to breathe properlyI used to be good at that when I was swimming more regularly but I think I've lost the nack. I know the doctor will give me the best and most definitive answer and I don't shy away from going when I'm sick but even when I have a hard time breathing I don't feel like I'm in any immediate danger, I know that if I ease off after a little bit I'll be back to normal. I do think its worth checking out though so I'll probably make an appointment next week. Thanks again. |

I'm a day late on this post of course but congratulations on your weight loss that's great! I was wondering if you had your body fat % checked at all? Perhaps with your workout routine you've been building up muscle instead of fat which would be great. I'm not an expert but I believe that its fine for athletes to weigh a little more because of all that muscle mass. In any case I agree with all the posts that switching up your routine a bit would help. See if you can go swimming this summer, I find that it combines exercise and stress relief (I'm not much of a yog person myself). If you can do it out in the sun (wearing sunscreen of course) I always find the sun and the water really perk me up and for a little while you can just forget about things, which I think does a body good, lol. |

Thanks for the responses. Yeah I only went so hard to get sick once and learned my lesson, that was after participating in a race, but I can feel that it would happen again if I kept going. I'm not so much interested in speed as intensity, just to increase my calorie burn during a workout. I don't mind walking but it doesn't burn as many calories. Also its 30 degrees outside and I know that makes it harder for anyone to breathe so I'm sticking indoors until summer Thanks for the idea about psyching myself out I think I'm going to put a piece of tape over the speed display on my treadmill and see how that goes. I just really didn't want to go to the doctor and have them tell me I'm just out of shape lol that would be such a waste. |

It is so hard to lose a pet. Last year at the end of February I had to put down my dog Shira whom I'd had for 10 years after she developed sudden kidney failure and I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach for a couple weeks. Then last night I had to put down my cat Mandy whom I'd had for 14 years and I still haven't stopped crying. They turn into little people and true members of your family. You'll always miss your pets but it gets easier and you'll be able to remember and love them while growing to love your current pet more and more. |

I agree with the vitamin part be sure to take a B12 supplement!!I do not find it difficult to maintain a healthy and balanced diet while being a vegetarian and I have been for years. There are tons of meat alternative products that are actually very tasty and provide plenty of protein. People always seem to bring up protein when you become a vegetarian but I have never had a problem getting enough and I don't have to spend that much time paying attention to it either. Don't forget tofu too, it gets a bad rep but it is amazingly versatile and can be marinated to taste like just about anything. I have a tofu cookbook from the 70s which I think was the best yard sale buy ever, lol! It has tons of unique and delicious ways to make vegetarian meals that feel like they are chock full of meat. Good luck on your new lifestyle! |

Hey all I think I missed you by a couple days but wanted to throw myself into this since I'm new to the forums. Age- 23 Height- 5’4” Weight- 134 (I started at 145 starting to lose steam!) Goal Weight- 120 lbs to lose- 14 Desired Date to Reach Goal- May 22 college graduation!!! I hope to find some buddies on here to help me with motivation because there is no one around me who is supportive! My sister is so skinny people wonder if she has an eating disorder (she doesn’t) I got stuck with the super slow metabolism in my family. I have some health problems too which is ridiculous at my age so I need to be very careful to keep my weight down. Anyway I wish I could say that I’m excited to be losing the weight but I’ve hit a plateau I guess and now I’m just bummed and frustrated. Also I’m a vegetarian so any other veggies out there who want to bitch about meal choices together I’m all ears lol.
