Awesome job everyone!

imonadiet - I know what you're taking about! I often eat more right before it and get super bloated during. Very frustrating.  But then I love to see that number on the scale right after, as it is usually lower.

sharkythesmurf - don't worry. See it in a positive way. You didn't lose, but you didn't gain either!! Maintaining is better than gaining.

sableandargent - awesome to see that we have a guy on the thread. It's always nice to have the other perspective of things.

Hi fellow runners!!

I haven't posted in a long time. I've been busy and running out the door to work after my morning run.

I've had a bit of set backs for the past couple of weeks. I am still running 3 times a week, but I started to get shin splints. I am not sure why this is happening. I was reading in a book that there can be many reasons why shin splints happen. However, I don't know how to identify why they're happening to me. It is a bit frustrating. Actually, VERY frustrating.

Does any of you have any tips or advice? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks and keep running!

I'm a late poster today.

Yesterday I bought new running shoes. I got the Acsis GT 2130 and they are awesome. The buying experience was quite the experience. First of all, I was wearing a summer dress yesterday because it has been so hot here (Vancouver, Canada) these days. So for every different pair of runner that I tried on, I would go for a quick run outside to really get a feel for the shoes. I can only imagine what I looked like running around wearing a dress, and even sometimes wearing different shoe in each foot so I could compare.

At the end, I was down to two pairs and it was ahard decision, as both were very comfortable. The main difference between them is that the Acsis GT 2130 felt more cushiony and the impact of my feet to the ground felt very light.

My morning run today was good. I've finished the first week of the C25K program, and I'm already looking forward week two.

I got to get started looking for a goal marathon in the area. The guy at the running shoe store told me of a 10k run in mid-October. But I don't know. A 10k run is a big commitment. What do you think?

mkculs - do you do your runs on a treadmill or outside? I run around my neighborhood, and it is full of hills!! It definitely makes it tougher. But I like the variation. It keeps my cardio going.

manta - I would have liked a bit of that freezing air this morning hehe. It's been very warm here and today at 6am I was running at 64 degrees.

kyashiis - welcome to the group. I am also new! Good luck!!!

Ciao running buddies! Have a great weekend!!

Today was my first run this morning and it felt awesome. I live in the higher part of the city, and the view this morning was breath-taking. Who knew I would love running in the am!?!

Thanks for the tip manta. I will look one up. It's such a good idea to set a goal right from the start.

Hope all of you have a good run today.. off to work.

Hi Manta515 and khooder - thanks for the welcomes!

Yea, I'm a super excited to do the C25k! I'll keep you posted on my progress.

What 5k run are you referring to Manta515?

Hi gals/guys,

I'd like to join your support group.

I am very new at running, but super excited to start.

I will be following the couch to 5k program. Has anyone tried it?

The program looks doable. I also found a podcast of a guy counting the walk/jog intervals for me and it has energetic music.

I just came back from my first walk/jog and I feel great. I wasn't out of breath and kept a good pace... just felt little pains here and there, but nothing unbearable - yay! my muscles are working!!

I plan on doing this early in the morning, and I was wondering if you had any advice for this first time morning jogger?

Thanks and cheers!!

Ok then.. it looks like I'm going to have to exercise more and eat between 1200 and 1400 cals a day.

I'm in the same boat Laura.. I feel like I'm losing the lbs very slowly now that i have less to lose.

Thank you again! I really appreciate it :) :)

Kae03 thanks for the link.. i'm just not sure where you got the 1841 from. If I multiply 1416x1.375 it equals 1947.

Laura, so if my burn meter says I burn 1660 then I should eat 1160 calories a day?

This week wasn't a very good week... i blame it to TOM... I'm usually more hungry and easily pursued.

I'm hoping to have a great week and see the number drop quite a bit.

I completely agree with you stefanie! Fish, chickens, cows.... all the same...

It is just hard for me to explain it... I've been a vegetarian for sooo long, that I never imagined eating animal protein again. It is justa tough adjustment for me.

Thank you for all the advise.

That's really interesting, linme78 , that you went thru the same craving.

I'm also a true supporter of organic, free-range and grass fed!

My bf owns cow shares and chicken shares at a local farm.. so we know all our eggs and dairy product is all the above.

If I do decide to eat chicken, I would go this route as well.

Spending money in food is well worth it. I rather spend my money in food that I know is good for me, rather than on impulse shopping.

I'll keep you posted.
